"Once upon a time." Said the voice of a vaiki from behind the curtain. "There was a handsome young vaiki who knew he was charming and good looking, but always was frightened of being seen as vain, or, alternatively, being adored because he was so fine."

A sigh follows. Evidently this vaiki felt much about the story.

"So one day, when he discovered that the girl he loved did not like him at all for himself, but just because he was popular, rich and good looking, the vaiki was distraught. He, angered, left her promptly and went to visit his best friend, who was blind, for advice... one who could judge him rightly and not by his popularity or good looks."

"So his friend said 'you must have others you meet judge thee as I judge thee'. And old him to cover his face and hide in shadows when meeting new people."

"Henceforth, I- eerrr I mean the vaiki his himself with long cloaks, masks, and in the dark of the nights, or shadows of the trees. He gradually became shier from others, and, rather than make true friends as he had hope, other began to shun him for being too odd, or "proud" due to his newly found introverted behavior. Thus, the vaiki became angry at others..."

"The vaiki no longer wanted to make friends! He began to collect all that was wrong in friendships in his mind, and became very bitter... Yet in his heart he wanted a family and friends again, but insisted that they would never see his face until they liked him for who he was. As he became harsher, this became harder..."

"... And now... Listener... I want to know. Would you like m- I mean this vaiki for who he is, even if he's not quite as... nice as he was? Would you help him recover confidence and trust in others... that is, i-if you met him?"

Oh no. Oh no no no.

“Mrs. Gabriella’s garden… Oh no…” Perennial gave a small whine and stared behind her, looking to the poor, trampled flowers behind her. She’d just been on her morning run, when she had to divert as something - probably a dog - ran after her. She’d darted into the grass, and ran into the garden without checking where she was going.

An overwhelming feeling of guilt began to wash over her, and her legs trembled. How was she gonna tell her? Was she even gonna tell her? Perennial debated before scampering back to her house. She couldn’t handle this situation emotionally, and she buried herself in her blankets and spare clothes. She began to tear up, whining and crying into the blanket, shivering.

She’d try to come out about it.. Just when she could find the words for it.
