There might be a small conflict on the designs in the art. That is due to a conflict on the designs in the references.
On this ref, and on the full body adult ref, the full ear is red. On the adult headshot ref, part of the ear is a dull grey. The Basics wrote:[ Username ]

-Why wrote:(While this story is in linear order, it is not a full story. These are little snip-bits of the story that highlight the issue upon why Nerthus left.)
-
It was early spring when Oenitrix bore Cadfael a little of four pups; two males and two females. All four were of the pups were strong, very likely to survive the upcoming winter and make their parents very proud. They were given names at five days of age. The names chosen were Ethol, Durnehviir, Judicael, and Nerthus.
-
The siblings grew quickly, and it was soon time for them to begin training. It was around this time that Nerthus began hearing muttering from the adults about 'heir.' Heirs were the ones chosen by to lead the pack after the death or retirements of the current leaders, this Nerthus knew. She was very intrigued about what it took to be an heir. So, one day before bed, Nerthus asked her father.
"Father? I have heard the other adults talking about heirs. I know what they are, but. . . What does it take to be one?" Nerthus looked down at her paws as she shuffled them in-front of her.
"Your uncle, Sigurd, has decided that an heir is the first born male child of the current leaders. Because you were born last and are female, you will never be my heir." Cadfael explained simply. His voice held little emotion as he explained to Nerthus the ways of the pack, and set her straight on her place within it.
-
As summer came, the pups began more rigorous training. Nerthus proved to be one of the stronger pups, as she trained near every day. Nerthus had taken to picking up large pieces of hid left from a kill, or a large stick, and thrashing it back and forth. Doing this built the muscles in her jaw and in her neck. She took to climbing the mountain in great leaps and bounds in build the muscles in her legs, shoulders, and hips.
Each day she did this. Each day she tried hard to improve her strength. She was eager to surpass her elder brother, she was even more eager to surpass her uncle. If only she could get strong enough, then maybe she could take on her uncle.
-
Sooner than the entire pack could have realized, the day came where the pups needed to decide their path. One by one, the pups decided to either leave or stay but by early winter, several weeks after her siblings have chosen, Nerthus still wallowed with indecision. She loved her family dearly, and she had made herself into a capable youth who could provide for them. However, Nerthus was repressed by the laws that governed her family; she was not happy living under a system that would treat her - or any of her children, as lesser-class citizens.
Cadfael knew that his daughter was deeply troubled, but he also had to provide for the pack as a whole. So, he confronted his daughter.
"Nerthus. We need a decision. Soon the snows will come, and prey will become scarce. The pack must move o-" Cadfael was interrupted.
"So this is my choice? Because I wasn't born first and wasn't born with balls that I am not fit? I am to be a second class citizen in this fool's regime!" Nerthus became increasingly distraught as she spoke. The anger took Cadfael by surprise.
"I will confront my uncle. If he will not change the law, I will not stay!" She proclaimed, rounding on her father. Her head was held high, a bright gleam to her eye. For a moment, Cadfael saw greatness in his daughter that he had previously overlooked. She would make a marvelous heir.
But that was not the law.

Nerthus stepped into the dark den of the alphas. A pair of bright eyes turned to face her. Upon a slab of stone sat Sigurd. He knew well of his niece and her ambitions, he was attempted to squelch it every time. He had quickly grown tired of it, and only more so as she prevented them from moving on.
"Nerthus. I hope you have come to me with your decision." His voice boomed against the cave walls, but it didn't hide the note of disdain that flavored his words.
"I have." Nerthus approached closer to the stone thrown. There was a flash of white as Sigurd snarled at her, for Nerthus had the audacity to come far closer than one of her rank should. Yet, Nerthus did not stop. Bravely, she placed a paw after paw atop the stone. Sigurd had to step back in order not to be trampled. Before him stood his niece, upon the stone thrown, tail kinked high above her back, head and ears tall as she snarled right back at him. He knew within an instant what she was doing. She was attempting to challenge him.
Sigurd too, took up the dominant stance and they began to circle each other. He growled and snarling, threatening his own niece in a hope that she would submit. Nerthus would not. She was not phased by his attempts to show his brute strength - she had trained for months for his very moment. She had already made her mind up to leave, but she would make her uncle remember her. In a flash, Nerthus struck forward. She grazed his side with her teeth as she broke free of him - of the pack. She had defected.
-
Into the light of the mountain pass, Nerthus darted. She leaped with ease upon a rock where she lifted her voice to the sky.
"I, Nerthus, daughter of Cadfael, have chosen to leave! I will not be subject to a pack where females are treated as breeding fodder and have no right to leave! I will not bow down to a coward like Sigurd who uses tradition as an excuse to bully his family." Nerthus stopped, Sigurd had emerged and so had Cadfael. Sigurd looked ready to tear her in two, but Cadfael appeared expressionless. To them, only did she speak next.
"I will form my own pack and my own legacy. And let is start with having it known that I, a female had enough balls to stand up to a tyrant." A smirk appeared upon her face as she goaded Sigurd. Sigurd snarled and made to lunge at her, but Cadfael stopped his brother.
With one last look to her father, Nerthus darted down the mountain path, and into the forest below.

Never in her life had Nerthus felt so alive. She held no regrets.Personality wrote:[ Positive Traits ]
Quick, Imaginative and Strategic Mind
Nerthus prides herself on her mind, taking every opportunity to improve her knowledge, and this shows in her strength and flexibility of her strategic thinking. Insatiably curious and always up for an intellectual challenge, Nerthus can see things from many perspectives. Nerthus uses her creativity and High Self-Confidence
Nerthus trusts her rationalism above all else, so when she comes to a conclusion, she has no reason to doubt her findings. This creates an honest, direct style of communication that isn't held back by perceived social roles or expectations. When Nerthus is right, she's right, and no amount of politicking or hand-holding is going to change that fact – whether it's correcting a person, a process, or herself, she'd have it no other way.
Independent and Decisive
This creativity, logic, and confidence come together to form Nerthus, who can stand on her own and take responsibility for her own actions. Authority figures do not impress her, nor do social conventions or tradition, and no matter how popular something is, if Nerthus have a better idea, she will stand against anyone she has to in a bid to have it changed. Either an idea is the most rational or it's wrong, and she will apply this to her arguments as well as her own behavior, staying calm and detached from these sometimes emotionally charged conflicts. Nerthus will only be swayed by those who follow suit.
Hard-working and determined
If something piques her interest, Nerthus can be astonishingly dedicated to her work, putting in long hours and intense effort to see an idea through. She is incredibly efficient, and if tasks meet the criteria of furthering a goal, she will find a way to consolidate and accomplish those tasks. However, this drive for efficiency can also lead to a sort of elaborate laziness, wherein Nerthus find ways to bypass seeming redundancies which don't seem to require a great deal of thought – this can be risky, as sometimes double-checking one's work is the standard for a reason.
Jacks-of-all-Trades
Nerthus's open-mindedness, determination, independence, confidence and strategic abilities create someone who is capable of doing anything they set their minds to. Excelling at analyzing anything life throws their way, Nerthus is able to reverse-engineer the underlying methodology of most any system and apply the concepts that are exposed wherever needed.
[ Negative Traits ]
Arrogant
Nerthus is perfectly capable of carrying her confidence too far, falsely believing that she has resolved all the pertinent issues of a matter and closing herself off to the opinions of those she believes to be intellectually inferior. Combined with her irreverence for social conventions, Nerthus can be brutally insensitive in making her opinions of others all too clear.
Judgmental
Nerthus tends to have complete confidence in her thought process, because rational arguments are almost by definition correct – at least in theory. In practice, emotional considerations and history are hugely influential, and a weak point for her is that she brands these factors and those who embrace them as illogical, dismissing them and considering her proponents to be stuck in some baser mode of thought, making it all but impossible to be heard.
Overly analytical
A recurring theme with Nerthus is her analytical prowess, but this strength can fall painfully short where logic doesn't rule – such as with relationships. When her critical mind and sometimes neurotic level of perfectionism are applied to others, all but the steadiest of friends will likely need to make some distance, too often permanently.
Loathe highly structured environments
Blindly following precedents and rules without understanding them is distasteful to Nerthus, and she disdains even more authority figures who blindly uphold those laws and rules without understanding their intent. Anyone who prefers the status quo for its own sake, or who values stability and safety over self-determination, is likely to clash with INerthus. Whether it's the law of the land or simple social convention, this aversion applies equally, often making life more difficult than it needs to be.Art wrote:Header HeadshotCredits wrote:Form Layout is credited to: Lady Yunalesca
