Name: Altheia "Theia"
from Greek, meaning "honesty"
Gender: nonbinary
they/them/their or ey/em/eir pronouns
Sketch of Face: to the right!
Why do they hide their face? (186/200)
Altheia interns at an observatory, which means two things - they're in darkness for most of the day, and they're constantly surrounded by strangers. While they love basking under the glow of the stars, Theia's not so fond of walking out of the dome and being blinded by the lobby lights, which is why they grew out their bangs. The wall of hair gives their eyes time to adjust, and even better, they're no longer swarmed by visitors with questions the moment they step out.
The visitors are the reason for the face mask as well - they put it one one particularly bad flu season and quickly discovered that they loved the feel of it. It was soft and snug, and even better, strangers could no longer misread their facial expressions. While it occasionally earns them some strange looks, Theia's occasionally rewarded by a kit bouncing up to them, asking if they're a space pirate. In return, they'll push their hair aside a little, wink, and pull a little star trinket from the depths of the mask if the kit promises not to tell anyone.
