It's hard to make a $2 skateboard look cool - or make it do anything, for that matter. Nye should know.

Sure, she could borrow a bike – it’d be cheaper than the duct tape holding together her only ride to work – but she can’t admit she doesn’t know how to ride it. Plus, bikes lack pizzazz.

It is hard to bring groceries home on a skateboard, though. Nye makes sure friends don't come over and see the fridge stocked only with ramen or the empty ice cream carton from a late-night cry session.
