    How they lost their limb:
"I... would rather not say." Draco muttered, losing his tough-guy confidence as soon as the subject was brought up. He looked down at the stub that was left after the accident that left him armless. "Oh, just spit it out!" His friends said, cheering him on to tell the tale. Draco sighed and stood up, revealing the stub as it's profile was outlined by the fire. "Well... where do I begin..."

    •••

About 3 years ago, Draco had been out in the woods with his friends. It was a simple game of truth or dare; Draco, not wanting to seem like a weakling in front of his friends, took the dare route. Little did he know what they had in store for him. Among those friends was someone who hated him with a passion; they hated his guts, his strength, and his tough-guy demeanor. Draco didn't know that this gator hated him so much. The gator had hidden behind the guise of a friend for so long, and Draco had trusted him. "Draco, I dare you to try and steal The Bear's special golden necklace."

"The Bear" was a ferocious and well known bear that inhabited the woods across from town. She was mad, aggressive, and ruthless. Anyone who even entered her territory during the day was rumored to be shredded, only barely getting way with their life, while those who attempted it at night have never returned. A while ago, a Gator lost a necklace on The Bear's territory. The Bear kept it, and hasn't let anyone near it, treating it as one of her cubs.

Draco, knowing his strength, decided that the task wouldn't be too hard for him. Everyone in town knew how much of a hunk he was. He was proud of it, too. He thought he could handle it. So, later that night, the group of gators headed onto The Bear's territory, eager to see Draco carry out his dare.

    •••

    (Draco POV)

It was pitch black outside. I could barely see anything, only able to make out the faint outline of my friends as they trailed behind me. I tenderly crept into the underbrush, my feet cracking twigs as sharp leaves rubbed against me pelt. This forest was thick and almost infinite. Once you got in, it was unlikely you would get out. I had a purpose, however. A simple dare, yes; but completing it would solidify my popularity and place with the locals. I was to retrieve the lost necklace from The Bear.
I was strong. My muscles rippled as I pulled myself under the thorns that separated the forest from The Bears territory. I could do this. It would be easy.

The pungent smell of bear hit my nose almost immediately. It's rancid stink permeated the area, my friends holding their noses as they followed me. I continued onward, ignoring it's terrible odor as we headed straight into the heart of the territory. That is when we saw it. The Bear.

It's foul breath wafted torwards me, causing me to gag. My friends seemed scared, stepping back into the thorns in hope that the cover and stench would keep the bear from getting them if anything was to go wrong. Carefully, I crept forward, my claws barely touching the ground as I almost glided torwards The Bear. It was a terrifying sight, even for me. It's brown, ragged fur, covered in leaves and twigs, rose and fell in a calm, sleeping motion. The Bear snored so loud that almost shook the ground. I shuddered.

When you approached The Bear, the small figure that outlined the creature seemed to grow to an almost impossible size. I stared at it's insane height, terrified but determined to do my dare. I was nothing compared to this creature. I was a nat. I was scared. Shaking, I crept forward, the moonlight breaking through the canopy and reflecting against my pelt. That is when I saw it. The moonlight illuminated the golden necklace, intertwined beneath The Bears massive claws. It glistened and gleamed in the light, it's sparkling design shimmering against The Bears tawny brown pelt. My eyes widened. That was it!

I tip-toed up to the bears snout, as that was the only thing between me and the tangled necklace. I separated my lips, trying to maneuver my teeth around it's muzzle, it's foul breath coming into my mouth, leaving a terrible and nasty taste on my tongue. I lifted my jaws and opened my mouth, ready to grab the necklace. Should I grab it and run? No... it was stuck in the claws. I would only pull the paw forward. That would surely wake the bear. Gently, I took the necklace charm in my teeth, the gold tickling my tongue as I slowly unraveled the necklace from the black claws. Almost there...

    snap.

    •••

The gator giggled, stomping his right paw and trying to make as much noise as possible without moving from his place. A sinister grin spread across his face, and the other Gators watched in shock as he continued to make noise. This was it, his master plan. Bring Draco out into the woods to get attacked by the bear. Take his place as a popular local. He would say he saved his friends, but could not save Draco. He even had a small golden necklace, a replica of the one lost to The Bear. He knew Draco wouldn't refuse his dare. Draco's ego was far too large. That would be his downfall.

    •••

Draco stared into the blood-red eyes of The Bear, his jaws firmly gripping the golden necklace. At first, his brain did not register that The Bear had woken up. Instead, he wanted to pull the necklace away, the final tug that would set it free and complete the dare. It took him a moment to register the fact that the bear was growling at him, raising itself from the sleeping position to tower over Draco. In moments, The Bear had basically doubled in size, standing on it's hind legs as it let out a ferocious roar. Frozen in place, Draco let his mouth fall just enough to drop the necklace in the ground.

The Bear dropped. Right on top of Draco.

A huge force crushed Draco to the ground, his shoulders squashed underneath the force of the blow. The claws stared slashing, releasing heavy blows to his shoulders and back. Searing pain followed as he struggled under the firm grip of The Bear. All he could see was the brown fur that smothered his senses. The drool from the bear dripped down his face, rolling off his cheek in hot waves. Draco squirmed and fought with all his might, managing to lift the creature a tiny bit before having it push it's way back down again. He looked over his shoulder to see his friends scurrying away in a rushed fashion, spraying up grit and dust as they raced from the scene. Looking back at The Bear, all draco could see was death in it's eyes. It stared back at him for a moment, as if contemplating it's next action. Then it lunged.

For a moment, he could feel it's razor sharp teeth on his shoulder. Then everything was black.

    •••

"That is how I lost my arm." Draco said, puffing his chest, proud of the challenge he endured. His friends stared at him in shock, their mouths agape as they stared at the place where his arm should have been. "How did you survive?" One of them asked. Draco snorted and smiled. "One of my older friends went to the police as soon as they were out of the forest. They got to me quickly and managed to save me." He said matter-of-factly. "Of course", he winked, "I could have handled that bear myself."

    Does it affect them?:

Honestly, Draco seems proud that he lost his arm. He wears it like a battle scar, a constang reminder that he survived one of the greatest fears the locals had. While it does often hamper him in his day-to-day life as he struggles with mundane tasks like carrying groceries, he always manages to find a way around it. He enjoys the attention he gets and is well known in the town, allowing the locals the comfidence to approach and help him if he needs it.
Draco isn't the fastest gator either, his lost arm giving him almost a limp that will slow him down. He can't run without tripping and is very off balance when holding large objects, but he refuses to wear a prosthetic or anything that would help him, choosing to tough it out rather than accept "defeat" once again.

|| I've officially left this site. To those who built me up, who encouraged me, who offered me company and roleplayed with me despite my rather juvenile behavior, and who joined me in OC competitions, I want to thank you! This site introduced me to things that would mold and impact my life forever, and would help me find my dream career and grow myself as a person. I may have moved on from CS, but I will never forget my roots, nor will I forget the sheer happiness this site brought and the amazing people I've had the incredible pleasure of meeting. Thank you all so much for helping me to get to where I am today. <3 ||

      How they lost their limb:
Skylar's story of his lost arm is actually pretty.. blurred. Although he makes wild tales about attacks by pirates, being mauled by bears or cutting it off to escape a torture cell, even, the truth is a lot more simple. When Skylar was born, his left leg (the missing one) had a defect in the bone which may have caused him chronic pain and a lot of suffering, had his parents not made the choice to amputate it when he was a few weeks old. Although it took a lot more effort for him to adjust himself to things like balance, writing, eating and other everyday tasks most Gators take for granted while growing up, he now is very adept at doing things one-sided. He started making up outlandish stories in grade school to stop the teasing he got in response from older Gators, and soon became well-known in the playground for making up a new story every time. Although most Gators now know the real story, Skylar does enjoy telling young Gators the crazy stories just to get their minds racing about his true origins.
      Does it affect them?:
Honestly? Skylar himself doesn't notice his lack of an arm most of the time. Because he usually wears a prosthetic when he goes out in public spaces, he doesn't normally get many "spooked looks" from anyone in particular. Plus, after all his years of living minus 1 limb, it hasn't really caused him any stresses that he hasn't adapted himself to by now. The only real annoyance is running and too much physical exercise - Skylar's lack of a left front arm means that running on all fours is an impossible task to do without running into a headfirst collision, so he usually has to give running races a miss. However, he much prefers cheering on his friends and family during races instead, so there isn't much he's really missing.

How they lost their limb: they were an adventurous, danger-seeking young gg once. though, it has nothing to do with how they lot their arm.

before losing their arm, they were never one to back from a dare. naturally, when dared to take a week of peace, he agreed. during the week, on monday they tried to sew, tuesday they wrote and drew, which inspired a hobby to spark. on wednesday, they decided to get 'science-y', and so they did, doing various experiments coming from an experiment book coming with the "Fun lil' Scientist Kit!".

the one that caught their eye the most was the lava lamp project. it was so intriguing and gorgeously cool, they would openly admit. but there was a part in their brain that screamed; "i dare you to drink it-- cold, of course." their ear flicked. once, twice, and then finally a response. "dare taken." a smile had grown on their face, and their words were only a little over a mutter.

nicholi had let the lava lamp cool off for over an hour, plenty of time for the project to cool down, they'd thought. they unscrewed the cap of the lamp and took a look at the contents for a second. "..i'm going to eat the moving parts too." they told themselves quickly, gulping down the liquid quickly, the other contents following soon after.

for awhile there were no effects of the lava lamp, but that night before they went to bed, a strong ache had risen from their left front arm. they brushed it off, thinking it was just something not that bad, such as just standing for too long. but soon the pain became unbearable, soon they had to scream because of how unbearable it was, and they passed out.

when they finally came to, it was saturday and all who was in there was a doctor and their mother. their mother looks half furious, half relieved, but said nothing. the doctor broke the silence. "you're been out quite awhile, you know. four days. the blood flow to your left arm was cut off, but thankfully didn't get any other limb. we couldn't save your arm, but you're lucky. but we had to flush out your stomach, too, and make sure all of those contents that seemed to be from a lava lamp were out." the doctor let there be a second or two to let it all sink in.

"just don't do it again."

nicholi looked to his arm. it was just.. gone, and he was bewildered. ..this only fuels me. they thought, and looked out the window instead, acting if everything were completely normal.

Does it affect them?: not much. nicholi had taken many dares where he had to disable one of his limbs, more commonly the front limbs, so he had gotten used to it quickly. yes, it bothered him he'd lost his arm, but he found it made dares more difficult, therefore also making them more fun as well, having to get creative to complete the dares then.
though. when they explain how they lost it, depending on the gg, they either tell the truth or say it was a shark attack when he was thrown overboard.
