Her relationship with her Protected (that's you !)
It started as a purely business relationship. You know, kill the nightmare monsters, keep the bad dreams out of the Protected's mind, get a thank-you and a gift basket of fresh fruit, yada yada yada. Ella is one of those Sheer that isn't bubbly or all that nice and keeps to herself.
Well, at least until she followed her Protected to the Main Street Library. It was apparently a hubbub for bad-dream creatures emerging from the horror section, and Ella wanted to make sure her Protected was in the best of hands. They ended up getting trapped in the ladies room by a particularly evil dream spirit and, while waiting for backup, ended up bonding over a common interest: books. Now they're very close.

How did she meet her Protected ?
Ella's Protected worked as a pet-sitter one February a year or two back. Ella was at the time new to protecting people in their dreams. She was nervous, hiding in bushes and behind trees despite her large size, hiding among a deer herd, scouting out potential Protecteds as they walked into the forest. It was cold. Ella didn't like it in the least.
When Ella found her protected, she was knee-deep in a muddy river with deer, wondering how in a million years did she get to be standing in a muddy river with smelly creatures, too nervous to actually look for someone to protect. Her Protected just found a fish in the fish bowl of the house she was pet sitting for belly-up in the water. The Protected had put the fish in a plastic bag from Dominick's and was taking the body down to the river.
Ella saw this human walking barefoot to the river and was about to run behind one of the doe. She decided to go for it, and ran up the her future Protected. The Protected decided that this sweet little creature didn't belong in a deer herd, and took Ella home. They have been living in the same apartment ever since.

One thing everyone, animal and human alike notices about Ella is that she is very reserved and shy. Her emotions are well guarded behind a placid gaze. Most people see her as cold and distant.
Ella has few friends, and she is very loyal and kind to all three of them. Ella is in a perpetually nervous state, always worrying about the environment, her friends, and her Protected.
Of course, everyone has their quirks. Ella's are that she wears a helmet often, studies ancient languages, has a knack for assembling yard furniture, and once read the whole dictionary.

How did she meet her Protected ? :
Delphini was flying over a dark forest at night, admiring the thousands of stars twinkling above her, when she heard a faint howl. The howl was full of longing, and Delphini couldn't help being curious why someone was that sad. She flew towards the sound, the crips night air ruffling her feathers. When she was close enough to identify the wolf in question she saw that he had a beautiful pelt, resembling night sky. When she asked him why he was so sad, he explained that he lover the stars so dearly, but couldn't ever reach them. Touched by his story, she decided to help him, and carried him up until they were surrounded by stars. The wolf, Lykaios, never forgot how she helped him, and stayed with her. Since then they flew together every night.

Nixo and you became close after the first meeting. Your life, full of stress and worry, suddenly turned a lot funnier with an odd unisheep around. Nixo calmed you a lot, and you in turn made her smile. A bond was formed, unbreakable. You and Nixo were as close as close can be.

How did she meet her Protected ? :

You sat in bed, fearful to sleep. Always, always, that nightmare appears, always, that...event, kept replaying, night after night. You don't want to sleep, ever, and if you could you would stay up with a cup of coffee and loud music blaring everywhere, with every single light switched on. But you had neighbours and your family, and they won't appreciate the music or the lights. And you had a test tomorrow, so you had to sleep.
You fell into a deep sleep the second your head hit the pillow, and random dream scenes appear and change crazily. You tiredly go through the motions, knowing you will dream it again.
But what you feared didn't happen. Something seemed to have walked into your dream, a...a... what is that? A unisheep? A unisheep with wings? Your grimance turns into a smile, then a grin, as you try to describe the creature. It was sheep-like, there's wool everywhere, but you were sure that sheep necks were not that long. Sheep horse? Unicorn pegasus sheep. Unipegaep. Shesuscorn. Unisheeppeg. Peggawool.

Nixo smiled softly, watching her newly appointed Protected. She had just removed the evil spirits haunting this girl's dream, and now stood in her dream, knowing what she was thinking. She trotted closer, and the sight seemed to make the human happier, laughing as she watched. "Are you a sheep?" Was the first thing she asked as Nixo got closer. "I can be." Nixo replied, allowing the girl to climb on. "But does it matter, when we can explore your dreams together? Don't worry about nightmares, it will never come back, so as long as I am here." "Then always be here, unisheep." "It's Nixo." Nixo snorted as the girl giggled, before suddenly running off, towards the randomness of dreams.

i stared out the window of the old cabin, shivering.
a blanket draped over me kept us somewhat warm. lyra's
warm fur was even warmer. she shoved her nose under
my armpit, rubbing me gently while also avoiding hurting
me with her horn. i stared down at her, smiling. lightning
raked across the sky, thunder booming, rain falling even
harder. lyra's eyes were filled with panic, but i immediately
leaned down and gave her a long, warm hug. our bond was
superglued together, tethered by a rope of steel. nothing
could break us apart.

how did she meet her protected?

dark fog cloaked the area. a large pair of blue eyes peeked
out from the protection of a small cave. rain slammed down
onto the ground, the sound creating a muddy rhythm on the
ground. pine needles were cast aside, a small stream of
run-off slithered down a slope and creeped its way into the
cave. the sheer, now beginning to walk away from the cave,
had a single, magnificent horn on her head. moonlight shimmered
on every inch of her body, giving her a beautiful, ghastly aura.
she seemed as if she had lost something, something she never had.
maybe that's why she can't seem to find it. somewhere in the
distance, something rustled. a brown headed female was asleep
on the ground, mouth twisted in a snarl and twitching. her eyes
were shut tight. she was having a nightmare, a bad one at that.
lyra's eyes went wide. there seemed to be no sheer around who
had claimed this.. no. not 'this'. it was hers. her protected.
