Anaxandra yawned as she slowly awoke to the warm summer air at Hyrulian Gypsy Stables. Still feeling a bit groggy, she lifted her head in her pleasant stall and waited for a few moments to take in sun's rays, and the birds chirping. Stretching, she stood up and nickered softly to the horses next to her, something she always did to alert them she was awake. Although it was still morning, the barn was quickly beginning to wake up: Horses were being let out of their stalls, and some had gotten out by themselves, others were grazing the soft green pastures, or trotting around the stables. She saw horses being groomed, stalls being cleaned, trail rides being taken, and some young foals splashing around a small puddle that had formed. Anaxandra herself felt a tad hungry, so she trotted over to the apple tree, a favorite place for a sweet treat. Upon arrival at the tree, she saw Seoul, the barn manager [manager?] along with a new but friendly face talking. They both turned their heads when they saw Anaxandra and smiled. Seoul talked to the new human for a second and then walked over to Anaxandra. "Hey, girlie! You'll be going home with Maggie" - she gestured at the new human, who smiled - "in a few days! Don't worry, you'll love it at Astral Stables." Maggie, the new human, walked over and softly pet Anaxandra's nose. "Hi there, Anaxandra! I'll be taking you home with me in a few days, but I'll get to know you better for your last few days at the official Hyrulian Gypsy Barn. I know you'll love it at my stables!" Instantly, Anaxandra felt drawn to this friendly person, so she nickered softly and raised her head a bit. Maggie laughed and turned to Seoul: "I love her! She's beautiful and everything I ever imagined, thank you!" Seoul responded with a laugh and a smile. Turning back to Anaxandra, Maggie plucked a ripe apple from the tree they were at and held her hand out for Anaxandra to take it. Anaxandra gingerly stretched her neck forward and accepted the sweet apple. Maggie breathed out a sigh: Anaxandra trusted her. When Seoul left, Maggie walked back towards Anaxandra's stall [with Anaxandra following her back]. Once Anaxandra was back in her stall, Maggie spoke to her in a soft tone: "I guess I'll help you clean up, alright?" She then replaced the hay, cleaned the stall, refilled the trough, and finally, brushed and groomed Anaxandra. When she finished, she said, "I'll see you tomorrow then, huh girlie?" Anaxandra had already become fond of Maggie, and whinnied softly. For Anaxandra's last few days at the Hyrulian Gypsy Barn, she and Maggie were by each other's side almost all the time. Anaxandra, being young, hadn't been halter broken yet and thus just walked alongside Maggie. They formed a bond, and a trust developed between horse and rider. Maggie was confident that they would both be ready fr the journey back to Starlit Stables, and was sure that Anaxandra would fit right in.

Finally, the day dawned when Anaxandra was to be taken [through a long and potentially quite difficult series of events, I might add] back to Starlit Stables, which was located on a private expanse of pristine white-sand beach on the coast of Oahu, the largest Hawaiian Island. Anaxandra woke up to Maggie sitting cross-legged next to her, stroking her beautiful blue taffy coat. Maggie greeted Anaxandra brightly with a gentle 'hello,' and Anaxandra to Maggie with a quiet, half-sleepy nicker. Anaxandra [who wasn't a morning bird] groggily rose, and followed Maggie outside of the stall. Outside, Seoul had woken and was helping to prepare a trailer attached to a galaxy colored truck [property of Starlit Stables c;], and other grooms and staff had things like hay, water, treats, ropes, and anything else for the trip on hand. [For the purpose of this story, Hyrulian Gypsy Stables is located on another Hawaiian Island]. When Seoul spotted Maggie coming out of Anaxandra's stall, she walked over and said brightly, "Hello Maggie and Anaxandra! Ready for the trip?" Maggie responded with a small laugh, and said "As ready as I'll ever be!" The setting up of the trailer and everything else took about half and hour to an hour more, then Anaxandra was groomed and led into the trailer. She felt a bit scared: She had never been anywhere but the official Hyrulian Gypsy Barn, as that was where she had been born and stayed all her life so far, but she wholeheartedly trusted Maggie and knew that she would be safe and sound the whole way. Inside the trailer, there was a food trough with high-quality food mix, a water trough, a ruck sack of treats, a storage compartment with grooming tools, a medical care pack, and a neatly coiled stack of roped. Anaxandra herself was secured by some lead ropes tied to a very simple and comfortable halter. The ropes were attached to the sides of the trailer so she wouldn't have trouble staying in one place throughout the trip. After some tearful goodbyes, and Anaxandra wistfully looking back at her home, they departed. Before they left, Maggie hugged Anaxandra and whispered "See you later!" then hopped into her seat in the truck. Maggie was in a seat in the back of the truck close to the trailer, as someone else from Starlit Stables was driving, and was carefully monitoring a camera feed that showed Anaxandra's behavior. Anaxandra seemed to do quite well, especially considering it was her first time being in a trailer, and was quietly taking small bites of food or sips of water. She didn't make a fuss, and was calm, which Maggie had already noticed and loved about her. After an hour of driving, they came to [insert Hawaiian Island here's] largest port, where they would drive their truck onto a gigantic ferry to be transported to Oahu, where Starlit Stables was located. They came early and Maggie had time to go into the trailer and feed Anaxandra a treat. The boat ride to Oahu went smoothly with no disruptions, and upon reaching Oahu they immediately departed for Starlit Stables. When they arrived, Maggie raced out of the truck and carefully began unloading Anaxandra, who eagerly but patiently stepped out of her trailer to admire the new stables. Starlit Stables was on a beautiful beach, with scenery and modern wooden buildings to accommodate people and horses alike. As she stepped onto the sand, she caught a glimpse of the ocean [oh my!] and caught a whiff of the beautiful beach air. Maggie asked, "Do you like it?" with a smile, and if Anaxandra could talk, she would have yelled yes.

As Anaxandra stepped out of the trailer, she was greeted with a warm, ocean breeze with a whiff of fresh hay and horses. The sand felt shifty but sturdy at the same time beneath her hooves. As soon as they were spotted, five grooms, stable boys, and staff hurried over. They greeted Maggie with hugs, smiles, and laughter, then they turned their attention to Anaxandra. A staff member cooed sweetly, "Well, what beauty do we have here?" Maggie smiled brightly and responded while hugging Anaxandra's neck, "She's a beauty, isn't she? This is Anaxandra - I picked her up from the official Hyrulian Gypsy Barn. She's my yearling, and I'm sure she'll do beautifully here." Anaxandra felt sure too - she trusted Maggie and she trusted that she would love it here at her new home. She looked around, and spotted a few horses curiously coming over, as they always did when there was a new arrival. One, a seemingly older mare who Anaxandra later came to know as Amaryllis, approached her and gently nickered, "What's your name? I'm Amaryllis." Anaxandra immediately took a liking to her, and said back, "I'm Anaxandra! Nice to meet you!" Amaryllis responded, "Welcome! You'll love it here. The facilities are comfy and impeccable, and there's space for us to do whatever we'd like." Anaxandra felt excitement rising, and as she turned, she spotted another mare coming over. This mare, Evangeline, ran over. "Hi there! I'm Evangeline! It's so amazing to meet you, I mean, the last arrival was Akila, and you know, she's nice and all, but she spends a lot of her time in her stall, talking to spirits, and you just seem to nice, and--" she broke off once she realized she was rambling. "Anyways," she continued, "It's awesome to meet you! I'm Evangeline, if I didn't already say." Feeling a bit overwhelmed but happy she was being accepted, Anaxandra returned "I'm Anaxandra! Nice to meet you!" Anaxandra had to be settled in and was feeling tired after the trip, so Amaryllis and Evangeline gave her some space to rest and get settled. Maggie led Anaxandra to her stall, saying "I hope you'll love it here as much as I love being here. I'm so glad you came home with me!" she finished with a smile, a pat on the neck, and a sugar cube. Over the next few days, Evangeline grew to love the beach, her stall, and the horses. Everyone was kind and welcoming, but she was closest to Amaryllis [who was like a mother to her] and Evangeline. They spent days in the water, splashing, or running around, or getting up to god knows what. They were insperable and became very close.

Anaxandra woke up to the sea air, and to Sergeant snoring in the stall next to her. Her ears perked up when she realized today she would be halter broken! Her scuffling had woken Sergeant up, and she heard him yawn. She whispered excitedly, "Psst! Sergeant! I'm going to wear a halter today!" Sergeant responded with a deep voice. "Mhghh, sure" - yawn - "Good luck! I remember the first time I was halter broken, right before I went to war. Have fun, Anaxandra," he said. Anaxandra scurried out of her stall to see Maggie already near the beach, talking to a staff member there, holding a pink halter with designs - it matched her eyes. Maggie walked over to Anaxandra, eyes gleaming. "Hey girlie! Ready to wear this halter?" Anaxandra responded with a nicker and a hoof stomp that said, Let's get going already! Maggie laughed and bid goodbye to the staff member before turning back to Anaxandra. She slowly slipped the halter on as to not frighten the horse. The halter was simple, with no bit yet, as they would get to that later today. Anaxandra shook her head a little to get the feel of the halter. It was as comfortable as halters get, and didn't feel too restrictive. Maggie patted her nose. "You'll get used to it, don't worry!" she said. Maggie led Anaxandra around by holding the halter, pausing at times to tug on the left side gently, which Anaxandra soon learned to mean "turn right", and vice versa for the left side of her halter. Once they had gotten down turning and directions with the halter, Maggie put the bit in her mouth. Anaxandra felt confused and didn't like it at all: It was cold, hard metal, what's to like? Maggie saw her discomfort and immediately took the bit out, and coated it with molasses to make it more enjoyable. This time, Anaxandra kept it in her mouth. They then repeated the directional left and right exercises, this time using the bit to control. At the end of the day, Anaxandra had gotten used to both bit and halter, and it started to feel normal. Maggie praised Anaxandra and gave her a few treats, groomed her, and then they both went to sleep.

Anaxandra woke again, to the sound of Sergeant's slightly obnoxious snoring in the stall next to her. After a quick drink and a stretch, she started walking out when Maggie greeted her at the door. "Good morning, girlie, how'd you sleep?" she said with a smile. After fitting Anaxandra with the halter [and some more molasses on the bit, for practicing purposes] she was led one of the spacious tacking rooms. The spacious tack room which can held many types and a great number of tack. Saddles, molded and customized to fit each horse, were lined up on wooden storage bars. Bridles custom to its respective horse hung from a peg below the saddle. Other assorted storage in the tack room contains different pieces of necessary tack for the horses. Anaxandra gaped in awe. So much stuff...what is it? What does it do? Maggie must have sensed her confuzzlement and said to Anaxandra, "This is the tack we use to ride horses. You'll get used to it over time, like the halter." Anaxandra remembered staff members coming to measure her mouth and back, so that must have been for all this tack. Maggie looked around the wooden storage bars and found one with 'Anaxandra' engraved on a wooden plaque. Below the plaque was a beautiful black classic saddle, along with a bridle, reins, a saddle pad, an ear bonnet, and polo wraps, all custom made by the best for her. Maggie started tacking Anaxandra up, starting with the bridle, which was similar to the halter but thinner and used for riding. Anaxandra found the saddle to be surprisingly heavy - she almost felt uncomfortable, as she had never had anything on her back before, but Maggie ensured that it wouldn't be a pain. The tack felt weird on her back, but Anaxandra knew she would get used to it later. They spent the rest of that week getting her used to the tack, and using some of the same halter exercises as before, Anaxandra felt like the tack was a second skin.

[sorry all stories start with her waking up, but it all fits together like this cx] Anaxandra woke up [again] to no snoring this time, apparently Sergeant had already been taken out by his rider. That was another thing: Anaxandra learned that Maggie didn't have time to visit every horse every day, so she made rounds. She still loved every horse equally, but time was limited, so those that weren't receiving love at the moment were being loved by their rider, a staff member working full time with that horse only. Anaxandra felt lucky to spend so much time with Maggie every day. The other day, Maggie told her that after she got used to the tack on her back and the bit in her mouth, Maggie would start riding her! They would take rides! Anaxandra was excited, so she trotted out of her stall and saw Maggie standing on the sand. She was facing away, so Anaxandra crept up behind Maggie and butted her shoulder gently. Maggie jumped a little and laughed. "Hey silly goose! You scared me!" Maggie then told Anaxandra they would be riding today. Maggie started getting Anaxandra used to the weight by putting small weights on her back, and leading her around with the reins and gradually adding more. Then, when they had almost reached Maggie's weight, the weights were lifted. Anaxandra felt like it was the tack again, but more tack: It felt strange, but she would get used to it. Maggie then vaulted gracefully onto her back, and Anaxandra almost toppled over mostly from surprise: Dang, she was heavy and it felt weird! Maggie gently patted her neck and lifted herself up from the saddle a bit to lessen the weight. Anaxandra thought it felt weird to have the reins being controlled from where she couldn't see them, but she felt alright. They slowly took a beach walk, and at the end of the day ended with a trot. "How was it, 'Xandra?" Maggie asked. Anaxandra had gotten used to it and looked forward to another session.

It had been about a week or so of rest since the last 'training' session, the green breaking with rider. Maggie wanted to give Anaxandra a good amount of time to cool off, rest, and absorb everything she had learned, which also gave Maggie time with her other horses. Anaxandra completely understood this, and spent this time with her two friends, Amaryllis and Evangeline. This was why she didn't expect Maggie to come into her stable and say, "Hey darling, time for your first training!" Anaxandra raised her head, surprised but excited. She had looked forward to this since their last session, and now here they were! She eagerly followed Anaxandra out, and along a bright path surrounded by palm trees and all sorts of beautiful flowers / greenery, until they arrived at Starlit Stable's best arena. Maggie groomed her, tacked her up, and Anaxandra was ready. They walked into the center, where they started with the basics: Turn, left, right, and the like. Some cones were set up for horse and rder to carefully maneuver around, and they did some basic exercises with stopping. After the basics were covered, Anaxandra had to admit she felt pretty proud of how far she had come along: Just two weeks ago, she had been sleeping in the official Hyrulian Gypsy Barn with no idea what a saddle was! Maggie praised her and fed her an apple treat with some oats. Maggie then told Anaxandra she would be training for something called "dressage" their next training session, which would follow this one the next morning. Dressage was the "highest expression of horse training" where "horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements." Anaxandra suddenly felt a lot less egotistical and a bit nervous: This sounded complex as hecko and she wasn't sure if she could do it. As if reading her thoughts, Maggie said "You'll master it perfectly. You're one of the most graceful and well-tempered horses at Starlit Stables, Anaxandra."

A dressage competition Maggie and Anaxandra won together! Anaxandra certainly picked up dressage quickly and well c:
Alright, please don't laugh too hard - this took f o r e v e r to finish because horses definitely aren't my thing. I butchered the design and the spots kinda ruined it, but I am proud of how it turned out, after many google searches of 'how to draw a horse' and 'horse anatomy.'

Other notes: Anaxandra took the time to steal every stallion's heart at Astral Stables...o.o
