Aleiah

Nicknames:
Lei
Eli

Gender:
Cis female

Sexual Orientation:
Demi-Homosexual and Monogamy

Romantic Orientation:
Biromantic

Occupation:
Aleiah works at a small coffee shop in Colorado,
and barely makes enough to pay the taxes.
it's not busy nor a well paying job,
but it's the best she found,
and is willing to stay until it fails or she's able to retire.

Birthday:
November 2nd,
1991

Personality:
Aleiah isn't your typical person. She's not the most talkative, but when she is, she's as sweet and bubbly as a person can get, despite being very awkward and paranoid.

Aleiah sweetness comes from being naive of the fact that she has an option to be empathetic.
Her mother taught her that if she's empathetic,
it'll help her reach her goals,
no matter what they are.
She soon stood by this statement,
and helped anyone who needed it

Though she might seem flawless at first glance,
she has flaws,
a lot of flaws to be exact.
Aleiah is extremely hesitant,
causing her to appear as awkward.
Aleiah became awkward because she sometimes doubts if her help
would actually help them,
despite every time she helped a kalon it was helpful.

Aleiah can be a bundle of energy if it's the right time.
She can have outbursts of energy if she's with friends or people she knows well,
because she knows they wouldn't judge her for her actions.
And if she isn't in the right conditions,
no outbursts will happen.

Aleiah is also shy,
which comes from her doubt.
She fears that someone might snap if she asks,
so Aleiah doesn't normally approach others.
She's aware of the fact that not everyone wants her help,
and for her,
it's not obvious if a person needs help.

And last but not least,
she's paranoid.
Aleiah is weary of her surroundings,
looking to see if something can inflict pain onto her or not,
because she's petrified of pain.
needles,
knifes,
blood,
all of it can cause her to potentially pass out.
As long as none of those things are near by,
Aleiah can live.

As you can see,
Aleiah might be kind and energetic,
but she also has some flaws,
being shy, awkward, and paranoid.

What makes them happy?:
Image

Aleiah really like nature,
and I mean REALLY.
If she could,
she'd live outside for the rest of her life,
but she can't,
so she did the next best thing,
live in a cottage in the woods.
She was raised almost always outside,
and she was always either running through the woods,
playing with her friends outside,
chasing butterflies
or climbing trees.

Unlike some,
Aleiah enjoys the outdoors,
and will do anything it take to be out their.

Aleiah also enjoys coffee,
due to working at a coffee shop for 9 years.
she likes the taste,
smell,
and the happiness it brings to customers.
As long as the customers are happy,
she's happy.

History:
Image

Aleiah was born to her parents on November 2nd,
1991,
in a small city in Colorado
Her mother died shortly after she was born due to complications during birth,
so she never really knew her.
She was enrolled in a public school at 4,
at an elementary school.
Her father lied about her age so she could get advanced education.
She was aware that she could never tell anyone her actual age,
so she always said she was a year older than she actually was.
Outside of that,
her father wasn't in her life much,
so she was left on her own.
Aleiah often when outside,
sat in her spot in the forest,
and think about her life.
It's not what people would expect her to do,
yeah,
but it's what she wants to do.
She was in school until she was 15,
when he could no longer take care of her,
so she was abandon and could no longer be in school.
She tried to find a job and a home,
but was unsuccessful until she found the cottage and the coffee shop.
Aleiah was grateful that she found both,
and still is.
She never when to collage,
due to not having enough money,
but she didn't mind too much at the time.

Now,
Aleiah still live in the cottage and works at the coffee shop,
but now she's trying to save enough money to be able to go to collage
for a better education.

personality: cam is extremely full of herself. she holds herself up very high, and is full of elegance, but she looks down upon most other people. she values herself a lot, and there's nothing wrong with self love, but chamomile takes it to the next level. while she can admit that she can be a little, er, overboard sometimes, she thinks that everything she does is completely fine. cam doesn't have many good qualities straight off the bat, but she is a very generous person when there are those in need. she's also rather patient- she doesn't mind waiting for things. cam is also very kind and loving to her friends, but everyone else can only hope that they're spared from the wrath of the snooty girl.

while clem is very adventurous and loves doing dangerous things, she can be quite clumsy. she also loves helping others, hence her friendly attitude; her heart is as soft as a feather. she cares for and protects the critters in her forest like a loving mother. although, don't mistake her for being oh so innocent and adorable. she is amazingly tough, skilled, and always strives to top her opponents. that's when her tom-boyish personality kicks in. being the athletic kalon that clem is, she is always competitive when it comes to any kind of challenge. her creative side helps her find new ways and tactics to win.

Image────────────────────────────
[drawing & nature/the forest]

i.

It felt like shattered glass.

The sound was like a cannon- it was sudden and loud, and that was what broke the silence and gave Clem the shattered-glass feeling. The feeling was not physical pain. It was the feeling of the silence falling away and being replaced by a ceaseless buzzing, roaring panicky sound all inside Clem’s head.

“Oh, no.” Her mother bolted upright. She locked eyes with both her daughter and husband. Her eyes were deranged with terror. Her voice was tight with fear. “What was that?”

“Run. Quickly.” Her father’s voice. “Clem, go. Don’t look back, don’t stop.”

“But, papa, momma-” Clem said, trembling. “I can’t leave you.”

“Listen to me, there’s danger nearby and I need you to be somewhere safe.” her father said, his words clipped. Her mother said softly, “Go, my daughter. Your father and I will take care of this.” Try as she could, Clem’s mother could not hide her panic.
Image
So Clem ran. Faster and faster and faster-

Clem’s Field Journal - Present Day

“I found a wounded wild turkey across the stream; it was grazed by a bullet. There won’t be any hunters in my forest, thank you very much. I hate them.

Oh my God, I can’t stop shivering.

But anyways, the turkey will be taken care of. I may have to call the vet…”

ii.

Clem stumbles, but she rights herself and keeps going. She hears, “Go, my daughter” over and over in her head.

She hears another loud and heart-stopping bang and an excited shout like a war cry; a terrible, animal scream that simply can't be from... her paren- it can't be, no - Clem’s crying desperately; she's too scared to think right - she must get to them, no- she must keep running like she was told-

Clem fell. The ground was to steep; the hill slippery with leaves. She tumbled down it.

I don’t want to be all alone, she thought. Yet another bang in the distance, and Clem blacked out.

iii.

She’s groggy and overtired, but she’s awake. Frantically Clem hunts for wounds on her own slim body- fortunately, only cuts and scrapes and bruises from her awful journey.

Then, it hits.

“Mama! Papa!”

I must find them, she thought, somewhat irrationally. She calls out for them, only to be greeted by silence.

She curls up in a little fluffy ball and doesn’t move for the next ten minutes. She’s shaking all over and she starts to cry- dry, heaving sobs. Clem’s head is spinning and she feels like she’s going to be sick. She’s just a little kit.

iv.

Clem slowly stands up, her body aching like an old woman’s. She blinks a few times and shakily takes a few steps forward. “Now what?” she says out loud. Her voice suddenly feels very, very small.

She brushes past a bush to get to a stream. Clem takes a deep breath as she leans forward to take a sip of ice-cold water…

Snake! She screams as the sinister-looking, slithering form slips by her into the shadows. She can’t tell where it went, so Clem flees, trying not to panic again.

She’s worn-out- she’s been worn-out for a long time now - but she knows deep in her heart that she can’t go back. Not to her parents; not to her old life. She’s lost everything.

v.

Clem finds out that her feet know the way back home. She purposefully avoids the berry patch and instead goes the long way around, but at last! She sees it. It’s not her house, but it’s one of her neighbors’.

“Please,” she says, knocking pitifully on the door. “Please.”

The door swings open after what feels like an eternity, and there’s a sharp intake of breath. “Oh my.”

“Where are your parents?”

Clem bursts into tears. She feels herself being lifted from the ground. She almost immediately falls asleep, her tangled brown hair falling over her face.

Clem’s Field Journal- Present Day

“I noticed a small bird in my yard the other day. It’s fairly unremarkable; small and grey-brownish, but I remember it well. It’s because it is the exact sort of bird that lived in the tree by the guest bedroom that I slept in for four days after the day of my parents’ death.
Image
My memories of those days are hazy, as I couldn’t have been more than five years old. I do know that I fell sick with a terrible headache and spent most of the day in a fitful sleep. The only thing I registered when I awoke was this little bird chirping away outside the window and of course, the painful absence of my parents. (I feel so bad about not remembering every single little detail about the kalons that loved me best, but it has been so long. I still think of mama and papa faithfully and with bittersweet longing nearly every day.)

When my headache was finally cured, nearly four days had passed. I never saw my parents again- they must’ve been hastily buried or concealed by whoever killed them (oh, how awful that sounds! If only they had a conscience to admit that they accidentally shot a kalon instead of the deer they were after!). But I had a place to live, even if it was not home. A family who recently lost a kit took me in.

Back to this bird. As I said, it’s plain, and the music it makes is not melodious, but it brings memories of my parents so I cannot help but notice it easily. I’m certain it must not be common to these areas- but how my heart leaps when I see it occasionally!”

vi.

“I’m sorry for your loss.”

Clem blinked and bowed her head. “Thank you.” she said timidly.

“Come with me. You’ll be provided for, but-” The older woman lifted Clem’s chin, somewhat harshly. “Don’t expect to be pampered. You must work for it, same as any other member of the family.”
Image
Clem gulped. This woman was not her mother, and never would be. But Clem knew better to argue.

Days passed, then years. Clem grew strong and her hands skillful. Bread-baking, the tending of the garden, cleaning, mending- anything that was done by the woman’s daughters and sons, Clem had did too- twice as well. This was her own choice, for she feared that she was not doing her share. Clem knew that she, unlike the other children, could be kicked out, passed on to the next family, if she wasn’t wanted. She sometimes, deep in her heart, felt like a charity case. She wanted to belong, but even more than that, she wanted her parents back.

vii.

Six years had passed; Clem was eleven. She had a group of friends, but Clem grew tired of them sometimes. Then, she would run off on her own and stare at the forest from the safety of her guardian’s backyard. She shivered, and was scared of the dangers she believed were hidden in the forest’s treacherous shadows.

Clem didn’t want to think of the woods, and she didn't want to go in them, not alone. So she’d walk away and start her household chores, for that was the other thing Clem knew how to do and was good at.

One day in school, it was break time and her friends were giggling in the schoolyard. Clem rolled her eyes and turned around, but this was a mistake.

“Bang! Bang!” Shouted one of the other students. They were playing at war, the sort of foolish thing only kits who knew nothing of its horrors would do. Clem froze. She closed her eyes and the memories came rushing back.
Image
She punched the kid in the nose.

“Hey! What was that for?” They shouted indignantly.

“Leave off. That’s not cool, you know.” An unfamiliar voice cut in, and Clem saw through her tears a tall boy whom she had never spoken to. “Hey, are you alright?”

“Today I made a new friend. He gave me a book, which he called a ‘field journal.’ I asked him what it was for, and he told me in a surprised voice, ‘Well, to record your thoughts and observations in, of course!’

‘Look at that bug. Isn’t it amazing?’ No, I responded- I thought it was creepy. He said softly, ‘Look at the way it kinda looks like a stick. That protects it from being eaten- it’s called camouflage.’

That was how I learned about bugs.”

viii.

“This nature stuff is really cool,” said Clem. “All these little details that I’ve never noticed before.”

“I know,” her new friend said. “But you haven’t seen the start of it yet. You haven’t been in the forest much, have you?”

Clem shrugged, but her eyes were fearful. “Nope.”

“Perfect. I can show you then.” He smiled gently. Clem nodded, determined to succeed.

ix.

“Would you look at that.” He pointed.

“It’s so pretty,” Clem whispered. She looked at the butterfly.

“It’s a monarch. Look at the way it flies from flower to flower!”

“So, um… I guess I’m going to use this ‘field journal’ now.

Wow, I never knew what wonders there were in the woods! Honestly, it’s all a little scary and new to me, but I think I might grow to like the forest.

Did you know? I saw a baby bunny, a monarch butterfly, and an old bird's nest! Hey, I have an idea. I’m going to draw some pictures as a surprise for my friend. I think I can remember what my favorite, the butterfly, looked like...”

“That’s really good, Clem. You should totally draw more often; this is gorgeous!” He smiled at Clem, and she grinned back, proud of her achievements.

x.

“Remember? All those years ago when we first met.”

Clem laughed. She was eighteen now. “I was eleven and scared as a mouse to go in that forest.”

He looked wistful. “It’s crazy that I’m leaving, don’t you think?”

She nodded. “But you’ll have so much fun working to document new species with your boyfriend and the rest of the team.”

“But what about you?”

“I’ll be just fine. This is my home, and I’m going to buy my own cottage deeper in the forest so I can be with my neighbors, the other animals.” Clem smiled. “There is so much to be done and I need to be their voice.”

“You’re happy where you are?”

“I couldn’t be happier… everything about the forest makes me smile. It’s my whole world.”

this is the end of the story, but not the end of Clementine’s tale.

arsonphobia ➼ fear of fire
when clem was only one, her home was demolished by a forest fire. clem remembers this day as being one of the worst in her lifetime. she remembers seeing her panicked mamas face as her mama shoved her out of their home. everyone was running and she had no idea why. it was hot and sweaty and their was smoke everywhere. clem and her parents were able to escape the forest fire though, from that day forward, clem has always had a big fear of any sort of fire.

ballistophobia ➼ fear of missiles or bullets
every year, clem has to live through what others call "hunting season." this terrifies clem beyond words, she has heard many stories of others being shot for their fur, or for food. she has to live with a constant fear during this time that someone could come and hunt her down. she has lost both her parents and even a few friends to this awful nature. all of the horror stories that clem has heard causes her to live in constant agony over bullets.

snakephobia ➼ fear of snakes [ ophidiophobia ]
at the young age of four, clem came across a marsh one day while she was finding berries to eat. the berries were so yummy, she picked many of them off the bushes to eat. before clem could even see it coming, a snake came out of the bushes and bit her leg. clem fell very ill, trying to fight of the poisonous venom running through her blood. clem was able to survive the bite and pulled through within a couple days, but since then, clem has avoided every encounter with a snake that she can.
