Kalons -- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.
Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sentient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.
A simple design that I've had in my unfinished drawing stash for awhile. The timer says +whatever hours because I was messing around with the design so much. :')
This kalon works in retail, so the contest will be to
tell me about their WORST expierence at work through a story. The more entertaining, the better!
There is no word limit, but you will only have a little over 12 hours. This will end at 8 AM, EST. Good luck!

Worst retail experience: When others keep forgetting their recites when trying to return an item or vice versa.
"You can't just give me a shirt and expect money back!" or "You have the recite but wheres the shirt? I can't give you money for a sheet of paper sir"

Worst retail experience;; When people ask about the Lyra’s worst experience in running her toy store, they expect something like an angry customer, someone breaking a product, or perhaps a whiny child who couldn’t buy the toy they wanted. None of those are the case, however.
It was a normal morning and Lyra was preparing to open up shop for the day. She smiled as a few kids peered in through the windows at the small play area in the middle of the store. There weren’t a lot of playgrounds nearby, so kids would come to the store just to play (of course, they’d still drag their parents in to buy the cool new toys they saw), even if it was just a slide, a small swingset, and a sandbox.
When the time came, Lyra unlocked the door to let in the crowd of tiny kalons and their parents or bored babysitters. She gave a quick warning to the kids to be safe and play nice, then took up her post as cashier, serving customers and keeping a watchful eye on the play area.
When one of the kids tripped and fell, Lyra dug around in her desk drawers for some band-aids and quickly excused herself from the cash register. She helped the child up and kneeled down to patch up the scratches on her arm.
“Are you alright kiddo?” She asked, and the child shook her head slightly in response. “Let’s go find your parents. What’s your name?” Lyra asked gently.
“Cassie,” the little girl responded. Cassie looked around for the familiar faces of her parents, then back at Lyra with tears beginning to well up in her eyes. “Um..”
“What’s the matter?” Lyra said, starting to get worried.
“They’re not here..” Cassie continued to look around, not recognizing any of the adults milling around the store, waiting for their kids. “We were shopping and I was excited and came here even though we were supposed to go somewhere else first and I don’t know where they are and-”
“You don’t know what shop they were going to? Do they have a phone we can call?” Cassie sniffled and shrugged, looking down. Lyra frowned, wanting to help the young kalon but at a loss for what to do. “Do you want to wait here for them? You can sit here by the register, or go and play with the other kids if you want.”
“I’ll just stay here..” Cassie said quietly, curling up by the wall near the register.
Lyra had to go back to work, but she kept throwing worried glances towards the young kalon. Minutes passed without her parents showing up, then a half hour, then nearly an hour. Finally, two kalons walked in the store and Cassie jumped up, running to them and hugging them.
“We’ve been looking all over for you! You can’t go running off like that!”
Lyra was thoroughly relieved that Cassie’s parents had shown up. She introduced herself and explained what happened, thanking them for coming and waving as they started on the way home.
Although Lyra jokes about the line at the register after the incident being her worst experience, she was truly scared for the small kalon and wished she could help more than she did. Lyra doesn’t like to see the kids who come into her store to have fun get hurt or lost, and hopes that something like this doesn’t happen again.

I could feel the manager's eyes scanning critically over my windblown uniform, could sense the way he was about to open his mouth and denounce the way I was organizing clothes. He swaggered over to me, golden nametag freshly polished, and clicked his toungue to catch my attention.
It was very difficult to not spin around and snap something insulting at him, let me tell you. The man gets on my nerves to a whole new degree.
He makes an exasperated sighing noise and lightly pokes my shoulder.

So it was 1 minute to close, I just got up to close the store so I can start counting my totals and a group of about 4-5
kids starts walking towards the shop and come to the door. I walk to the door and tell them were closed, now anyone who
lives nearby the shop knows we close at 10:00pm exactly. But these kids must not have been from around here and they
complained and left, as they left I heard them saying " That's dumb!" and " what store closest at 10?". Just to clarify were
the only shop that stays open that late in town..
