Quirks of Adanac
~ Adanac can not stand the color of neon pink. It sends him into a reeling panic attack. It is his only eventing fault, and pink jumps get to him.
~ Due to a muscle problems relating to his ears, he must pin back his ears or he will experience mild pain.
~ Adanac is an amazing horse to do tricks with. He knows how to rear, smile, and bow on command.
~ Despite having the reputation of being one of the most chill event horses ever, he loves being mischievous with beginner riders.
~ Addy is his nick-name.
The Neon Neighbor
Adanac awoke from a drowsy half-sleep state, in which he believed was a well-working plan, from a loud and nerve-racking opening of a stall door. He was in the VIP (Very. Important. Pony.) section and the nearest horse was at least two stalls away. Addy glanced over to see a large dapple grey mare walking in with a small women who barely reached her tall; sloping withers. Taking a deep breath, Adanac's eyes fluttered close. He planned on resting until turnout.
He had barely relaxed when the loud clank threw Addy into hysteria. He investigated his stall, wondering what monstrous creature was quite clearly terrorizing him. The thud repeated and to Addy's disbelief, he saw the crazy mare hooving the wall between them. With her persistent annoyance, Adanac struggled to maintain calm. Of all 20 stalls this wild mare had to be placed next to him.
Unbeknownst to Adanac, that was only the start of the problems. It was Tuesday, the day of the week when the tourists would sweep in the stables, like a wild stampede of creatures. Most irritating of all, he seemed to be the favorite. They crooned around him, enveloping himself in their horrible stench, nothing like the sweet scent of my rider, who always seemed to carry carrots in her left pocket. Ever since John's accident, Maddie Hamptons had been her partner.
"Here you will see Adanac, he is the World's Greatest Event Hor-
Please don't touch him.
He was named after his home country Canada, and I see you guys are bored. Moving on to the arena," The boring droning on and on all about him. It was a bitter-sweet surprise when his spotlight was now shined on his nettlesome neighbor.
"Meet Luna, our resident Olympic dressage horse.
Probably our most talented horse here, this is wear you snap your picture."
With that they were gone, and so was Addy's ambitious attitude. Surely, this horse, this irritable grey horse wasn't better than him. Grumpily, Adanac slept in the pasture later that day, shunning all his frolicking friends.
The next day, Adanac was excited to see Maddie come in, with her tan breeches and helmet, a sure indication that they would be ridden. Turning his head, he managed to glance at Luna, who's ears were perked. Looking towards her center of attention he saw her rider, who seemed just as eager to ride as Maddie. In fact they were talking. Adanac knew what that meant. He and Luna would have to ride together. The whole time he was being brushed addy thought about the inevitable ride. She was an Olympic horse. She couldn't be that bad. He was calming down until he saw a flash of neon pink through the bars of his stall. Luna happened to have neon pink tack. The one color that freaked him out. Throwing his head and stamping his hooves, he demanded at Maggie to have this nuisance removed.
"Woah boy, Calm down."
She didn't seem to understand the dire situation. Against my will, Adanac was tacked up and led to the outdoor arena before Luna was. He paced around, much to Maddie's irritability. When Luna emerged, he snapped. Rearing and bucking, Maddie lost her grip on Addy's reins. He bolted and ran to the pasture. Deciding to join in, Luna pulled away from her rider, and followed him. Having Luna run around with her neon tack was not fun for Addy, and made the catching of both of them quite difficult. Eventually they managed to cool down, and were led to their stalls. Luna switched to lavender tack, and the two horses created a bond and became some of the best friends Addy ever had.
