Kissaki
[keys-sa-key]
[ fan-shaped point of the blade (tip of the blade) ]
Based off the Japanese name for Snowpoint City,
coincidentally it sounds like the name of the song Kiseki.
Nicknamed "Saki" by Instinct, to their annoyance
Non-binary
Kissaki has their feminine and masculine traits,
but prefers to not identify specifically as one or the other.
Birthday: March 19th
Zodiac: Pisces
Blood Type: O
Chinese Zodiac: Rooster
Items: Glasses - Kissaki prefers to not be caught wearing them,
fortunately they're only for reading, as they can see without them.
Scarf - Even with all that fur, Kissaki still gets cold, wrapping up in a
silver scarf during the winter months. Sometimes using it for fashion.
Body: Fitting the stereotypical nerd image, Kissaki's leans more
on the thin side, with scrawny long legs, only having the fluffy fur
covering them to make it less obvious.
Writing: Kissaki likes to stick to cursive, writing almost all
documents that way. Impressively neat, with an odd knack for
slanting some letters in certain directions.
L's to an excessive right, F's to a fall back right.
Brought into the world by fire nor ice, Kissaki was born in a small and humble community. From here, they paved their way.
At the time, the world seemed so small. All Kissaki knew was the others around them and the culture to which they grew up with. One of great tales and stories, explaining how all things came to be.
Kissaki wanted to know, they wanted to understand, was there truth to these tall tales? And how much of it exactly? Was faith something to trust, or a desperate attempt to be comforted by the unknown?
With salvaged support, Kissaki took it upon themself to answer the question burning in the back of their mind. A part-time hobby quickly became an obsession as they began to ignore everything else unrelated. When they weren't delved deep into books or research papers, they were sleeping.
Years seemed to mesh together, ending before they could even start. Kissaki couldn't find a reason to particularly care. At this point, Kissaki was getting somewhere with their goal, and yet they were still so far away from accomplishing it. Growing ever frustrated, knowing the answer was right there in front of them, and yet doubting everything at the same time.
Outside of general conversation and discussion, Kissaki chose to not speak to anyone else. Those who tried were met with a glare, and immediately back off. Up to now, it stayed like that, until another kalon calling themself the leader of some "Team Instinct" wasn't so easily deterred, throwing Kissaki off extremely. Something about them was just weird, seemingly flowing with ridiculous degrees of optimism and energy. Kissaki couldn't help but admire it, but every time they went to say something, the words hung on their tongue, they couldn't choke something out before the "Instinct" kalon had run off.
Shaken up from the encounter, they brushed into another Kalon, this time gloating around as the "Team Valor" leader - seriously what's with the team thing? - and immediately felt a hot burn slice through their side. The kalon seemed to glow with an intense heat that almost felt suffocating, radiating an aura that felt like it was challenging Kissaki directly. They didn't exchange a single word, and yet, Kissaki started feeling offense and distaste towards this kalon, hoping to never see them again.

Dizzy, choking on the frozen air, and yet, Kissaki couldn't stop running. Paws pounding into the crisp snow, the constant static barely drowning out the loud heartbeat in Kissaki's ears.
"What am I even running from? Why here? There's nothing even here."
Everything was just becoming a blur, muscles tightning, crashing down onto the ground with a muted cry. Clawing, thrashing against the cold ground. Kicking and crying out in a mix of anger, fear, and grief. And yet, Kissaki just couldn't find the strength to lift themself up and keep running.
"Nobody can even hear me. I'm going to die here, I should just accept it now. Dammit. Dammit. Dammit, Kissaki. Why couldn't you just control yourself?!"
Tears began flowing from Kissaki's eyes, followed by barely audible gasps and attempts to cover up the tears with their paws. Lungs burning, breathing out smokey hot breath. The snow refused to cease, only pouring down faster turning the haze into a solid white.
"I'm sorry! dammit I'm sorry!" Kissaki weakly yelled out. "I was scared, terrified of the unknown. I relentless pursued it hoping to find something to justify my actions. Now I'm just alone without a real purpose."
All at once, the hail of snow ceased. The silence interrupted by a gentle sound of a pair of wings flapping.
Kissaki pulled away their paws, clumsily raising theirself back up. Hesitantly looking upwards, taking a deep breath before taking it all in.
There it was, adorned in blue with a gentle ruffle of white. Perched upon a large rock, it stared curiously at Kissaki. Spreading out its huge wings, it flew off.
The snow resumed once again, this time, only a gentle flurry.
Kissaki just stood there, dazed by what just happened in only a matter of seconds. Giving out a loud and hysteric laugh.
"Huh, I guess the legends are true."
Tiredly dragging their tired body, muscles sore and aching, yet only slightly bothered by it all. Finally, sweet, sweet civilization was approaching. Kalons bustling through the small town, tending to their normal routine. Such a boring site, yet so pleasing to see. Kissaki couldn’t help but grin, giving a final push to dash down the hill.
A few civilians gave Kissaki an odd look – a kalon head to toe drenched in melted snow wasn’t exactly a common site per say – but quickly returned to minding their own business.
One kalon in particular, was a little more interested, taking this chance to leap over and chat up Kissaki.
Flashing a familiar smile and saying,“Hey! What’s got you so giddy? Did you go have a swimming montage with some magikarps or something?”
Too caught up in the moment, Kissaki couldn’t quite understand what to say, “Uh. No. It’s, it’s a long story- “
Only to be cut off by,“It can’t be that long! C’mon I love a good story!”
Suddenly, Kissaki realized who they were talking to. The same kalon from earlier. Bright yellow fur adorned in darker stripes, topped off with fur that made it look like this kalon never learned to not put a fork in an electric socket.
“Wait, aren’t you that Team Instinct guy from earlier?”
Ears perking at the words “Team” and “Instinct” being used together, they excitedly yelped out,“The one and only! Why do you ask?”
Kissaki didn’t actually know why they asked, hastily responding with just an out of character, “I just wanna know what it’s all about.”
“You haven’t heard? I’m challenging against Team Valor in a turf war kind of thing! My team is all about intuition and trusting in your instincts! Team Valor’s leader thinks strength is all there is to being on top, I’m here to prove them wrong!”
Admittedly, Kissaki was interested now, “I don’t know this Team Valor person, but do you think, if I made a team like yours, at least someone would follow?”
“Hell yeah! You seem like an interesting kalon, I’m sure someone out there would like to see what you really have to say. Plus, another rival would even the playing field between Valor and I! What would you call it though?”
Flicking their tail, pushing ears back, Kissaki mumbled out, “I don’t actually know- “
“Hey! Nothing wrong with that! How about something cool, like Team Ice! Wait no, Team Mythic? That sounds kind of cool, maybe change it up to Team Mystic? Yeah! Team Mystic!”
“It does roll off the tongue nice… Huh, Team Mystic. I like that.”
A voice in the background yelled out, the name said muffled by the commotion Kissaki had been blocking out, but the Instinct kalon turned towards the sound.
“Looks like that’s my cue to leave. See ya later! You’ve got to tell me that story sometime!”
“I doubt you’ll even believe me- wait I didn’t even get your name!”
The Instinct kalon had already run off – again – and Kissaki barely even knew who they were.
Pulling in a deep breath, they thought about what had just happened. Was starting a team like Instinct’s really a good idea? Doubt flooding their mind. Brought only to clarity by the image of the large bird gently calming the blizzard.
“I’ll just have to take a chance at it. I don’t really have anything to lose do I?”
Hopeful and dreadful thoughts mixed in were interrupted by another kalon. This time, shining in crimson, coat puffed out.
“Watch it! I’m in a hurry here- hey wait you’re that kalon from earlier. What’s your name, clumsy?”
Holding back a growl, thrown off by the loud and prideful kalon standing in front of them, “It’s Kissaki. I’m the leader of Team Mystic.”
“Huh, the leader of Team Mystic? I guess I have some competition. Nice to meet you, Kissaki. Whatever you’re bringing to the table, I’ll crush it. Instinct barely holds up against me, I don’t think you’ll make much of a difference.”
It all clicked. These two were the kalons from earlier. Instinct and Valor respectively. Kissaki had already made an impression on them, it was too late to turn back now.
[time skip to present]
“Knock knock. May I come in?”
“You don’t need to say that every time you come in here. There isn’t even a door, idiot.”
“I’m just messing with you Kissaki, no need to be so bitter.”
“Ah, yeah, you’re right. My bad. What brings you here?”
“Just wanted to congratulate you on Mystic’s success. You’ve got more people following you than my team and Valor’s. You and Valor are real rivals now.”
“Oh, uh, thank you. It wasn’t exactly what I imagined when I first mentioned the idea. Everything that happened after was just a matter of my team mates.”
“You’ve really made it big, Kissaki. I hope you continue with it.”
Flashing that nostalgic smile,“I’ve gotta go do something important. I’ll catch up with you later, Saki.”
“I told you to not call me that, idiot. But, see you later.”
[skip to Team Instinct’s leader alone]
“So I’ve been beaten by my rookie, huh? They’re pretty smart, and a great leader, but…”
Dragging claws, down their face,“… if I didn’t tell Kissaki about it, maybe things wouldn’t be like this. I wouldn’t be the laughing stock while Valor and Mystic get all the spotlight. But, ah, I’ve got to be realistic, right? Who’s really gonna trust in their instincts when they’d much rather fight for power?”
The soundtrack of Pokemon has always been
important to the experience of the games.
Whether you recognize it or not, the simple
chip tunes, or perfectly orchestrated songs
give the game more nostalgia than it
already does. I felt it was appropriate to end
my form with a list of songs from the game.
