So here's my event rare for this summer event. I sort of just went with "beach" as a theme and worked everything in together. Honestly I really like the outcome, I think it represents what I was going for pretty nicely. Plus shiny shiny~

This competition will be a regular/limited contest. As I prefer them for judging.

-extra word limit - 200 words required, up to 800 words total (which can be split into personality, bio or can be just one story if you choose)
-extra art limit - 1 piece required, up to 6 pieces allowed
-Remember though - Quality over Quantity. It is possible for someone with better personality/character development and only a couple pieces of art to beat out a rushed form that maxed out it's full amount on filler.
-prettying up/coding is allowed.

how exactly will you be judging this?
effort will count for fifty percent of the overall. Quality over Quantity is always a big thing for me, the more effort and thoughtfulness I can see invested in the character you make will be what I'm judging this on really. Show me how much you want it by creating a great character. c:

can I make a comic for my art?
so long as it's short (not longer than six pages) and isn't dialogue/word heavy then yes.

what about animations?
yes if they aren't too complex. in example, no big scenes where the character walks, talks and does something.
a walk cycle is okay, but preferably smaller movements like tails, ears and eyes would be better.

so all of my "extra words" count as one?
yes. a minimum of 200 words is required, but I'm giving up to 800 words in total to do whatever with.
which means it can be split up into many things (like personality, bio, family relationships, crushes, friends and enemies, etc) or combined into one big thing (like a short story).

Puakai and Hotaru met in the middle of the
sea while Puakai was patrolling and Hotaru was
wandering. They were both intrigued by the other and
a conversation quickly sparked up between the
two. As they spoke, they became closer and
closer until the two were practically sisters.
Hotaru often flies out to Puakai's island to visit
and hang out with her. The two mostly will
swim or wander the island together, always
engaged in conversation. Puakai helps Hotaru
deal with the males only interested in her
wings, and Hotaru helps Puakai with her anxiety
about the main land. Their goals are to remain
together their whole lives, as close as the sky
and the sea.

Puakai was born on an uncharted island within
the Pacific ocean somewhere near Hawaii. Her
mother and father vanished a few days after her
birth leaving the viscling to fend for herself. The
beginning was hard and she often grew frustrated
with walking on land, but when she first fell into
the ocean, everything seemed to click. The water
felt natural to her, more so than the grainy sand
of the beach. So, she began a new life, this time
amphibious. Practice and determination helped
her learn to hold her breath longer, and watching
the tropical fish led her to move swiftly in water.
Her favorite part of her world today is the simple
fact that there is always a hidden part.

Puakai isn't much of a social butterfly
and often comes off as a sweet, but silent viscet.
She mostly keeps to herself in terms of opinions
and will often just go along with others to please
them, so long as it is not against what she believes.
While she comes off shy at first, it is her true friends
who see who she really is. Around her friends, particularly
Hotaru, she is a spontaneous dork
who loves fun of all types. She adores
making others smile, as when someone's sad around
her she often doesn't know what to do. Being
a friend of Puakai means that every day is
an adventure as she bends over backwards to
entertain you.

It was around midday and the water was a bit hazy, but beautiful nonetheless. There were a few patchy clouds in the sky, but nothing I was concerned with. I was near the surface when I caught the odd rippling sound of something disturbing the water. Curiosity took over and I took a quick breath before plunging down and swimming to the source. I watched from below as a Viscet paddled through the water with ease, as though she had done so many times before. She towed a raft behind her, likely for rest, and seemed to hold a calm air of determination. I watched for several minutes until she climbed aboard the raft. I slowly swam towards the surface, watching the raft at all times. I hadn't met other Viscets, except for Hotaru of course, and didn't know quite what to expect. She could try to rip my face off for all I knew. Still, I had to at least investigate this stranger... My nose broke the surface first, followed shortly by the upper half of my head. I remained there, breathing softly through my nose, and watched her. She was sitting on the raft with her back to me. Her breathing was heavy, but not as hard as other land animals after swimming. She was certainly accustomed to long journeys. I watched her for a few second until her head suddenly turned and her white eye locked onto me. I froze up for a moment before plunging below the surface and taking shelter beneath her raft. I could see her shadow as she peered over the edge and felt my heartbeat pick up. Her shadow vanished from the edge and I waited several minutes, hiding beneath the raft. Finally, my lungs begged for oxygen and I slowly swam up towards the surface. When my head broke the water, inhaled deeply and immediantly regretted it. She turned around sharply and stared at me. "Who are you?!" I was scared, but fear never solves anything, so I toughened up. I introduced myself and welcomed her to my ocean. We talked, or atleast, I did, for several minutes, both of us quite nervous, then she suddenly seemed to relax. She responded to me after that. Her name was Amelia, she was a traveler who had explored thousands of places. She wasn't keen towards strangers and often displayed distrust, but was a gentle, caring Viscet beneath it all. We talked until the sun began to reach for the seas. Amelia departed shortly after, having to continue her travels, but promised to visit again. I hope to one day travel the world with her.

Oregon is actually relaxed and chilled,
however he can be pretty bossy when irritated.
He isn't the most popular Viscet, but is defiantly friendly.
He does have a few friends, and they are extremely close to him.
Oregon tries to meet new Viscets but acts pretty weird when he does.
When he meets new Viscets, he gets nervous and starts
talking about his other friends and family, instead of himself.
Sometimes he starts realizing what he's doing, and tries
to apologize, then they doesn't really end up being friends
with them after this.
Oregon has his friends, but doesn't have a pack,
he prefers to stay alone. He doesn't have a territory,
and like to travel. He prefers to travel for a few
weeks, come back to his friends, spend a few
days with them, then go back to traveling.

Oregon has seen many different beautiful things,
but nothing could beat the the view at Teton mountains.
He was on a simple hike with one of his closest friends, Kalea.
The sun was setting, and Oregon hadn't even looked at the
mountains yet. Suddenly, in mid conversation, Kalea stopped,
and said, "Oregon... Look up." Oregon looked at Kalea,
then looked up at the mountains. His jaw dropped. The sun
shone just perfectly on the mountains as it was setting.
The snake river glistened with light, and the trees were
lit up by the golden light. They stood there for what felt
like hours, watching the sunset.
The view that he saw was the most gorgeous, beautiful
thing he has ever seen. He will never, ever forget that.

Lilian - Enemies - tenlittlesoldierboys
Oregon was traveling, as usual. He came to a strange
area he has never been before. Oregon was fascinated
by the distopian environment. He stayed in that
area for a while. He met a couple of other
Viscets, then he met Lilian. He noticed Lilian
could be very aggressive. He took an automatic
disliking to this, and one day, spoke to another
Viscet about Lilian. Lilian has never gotten
over it after he found out what Oregon said.

Azul - friends - shadow9119
Oregon was visiting his home. He just woke
up and was getting some exercise. He
noticed a Viscet nearby with some strange
equipment. He went to check it out. Oregon
went up to the Viscet and introduced himself.
He found out his name was Azul. They
started talking about technology, and Oregon
found out what Azul had, was a camera.
Azul even let Oregon take a picture!
They've been friends ever since.

Ceaser - friends - tenlittlesoldierboys
Oregon was traveling, like always. He met
another Viscet while on one of his trips,
he was surprised to learn that Ceaser
(the Viscet's name) was from where
Oregon was born. Ceaser said that he
liked to travel as well. Oregon even got to
travel a little with Ceaser.

Kalea - close friends - solgaleo
Oregon has known Kalea for a very, very
long time, ever since they were kids!
Oregon remembers it like it was yesterday.
He was sitting down alone, watching the
other kids play. He noticed the presence
of a Viscet, and perked his head up.
He saw Kalea, and started talking to her,
they have been traveling buddies up to this day.

Today was the day that he was going to travel with his friend, Ceaser.
They had met not to long ago, on separate trips. Oregon met Ceaser
and found out that they both lived in the same place. They agreed to
travel when they got back to their homes. Now, Oregon was packing his bags.
"Almost done?" Oregon jumped. "Don't scare me like that!" He teased. "And yeah. I'm done."
They said good bye to their friends and family and got going. "Where to now?" Ceaser asked.
Oregon looked around. He decided to take a path that he's taken before, then go from there.
"This way!" Oregon yelled. A few hours passed, and they were on a tail, still not to far from home.
"I think it's time we sit down and take a break." Ceaser stopped walking. "I'm tired and a little hungry."
He took off his bag and started unpacking without waiting for a response. "Umm ok!" Oregon responded,
then sat down and unpacked next to Ceaser. Once they were done, Oregon took out his sandwich.
As he took a bite, he looked around and observed the forest as he finished his sandwich.
A few weeks later they were found in the mountains, one of Oregon's favorite places to be.
They were on a small hike up one the they mountains. "Are we at the top yet?"
Oregon asked. Ceaser was the one leading the hike. "Umm-yeah!" Ceaser
exclaimed. Oregon gasped and ran up next to Ceaser. They had gotten up
extra early to see the sunrise. And it was worth it.
