Luca thinks of himself as the king of the beach. He's never more comfortable than when he's maxing and relaxing by the seashore, with the sand all but singeing the pads of his feet and the salty breeze ruffling his hair. Some say the beach is too crowded, but that's exactly what this outgoing kalon loves about it. There's always someone for him to chat with (or show off to) and he can usually even get away with crashing a party or two. People tend to just be happier when they're at the beach, you know? It's an instant mood lightener, Luca swears by it. With so many people in one place just looking to have a good time, positive vibes are sure to be infectious.

When he's not too busy strutting his stuff or tackling the waves on his surfboard, Luca is doing anything he can to spread that positivity. He's the guy who will chase your runaway kite halfway down the shore, or plop himself down beside you on a bench with a spare ice cream cone in paw. If you're all alone or just looking blue, chances are Luca will notice, and he will try to brighten your day.

This is not to say that he's always successful in his endeavors; there's been a time or two that his forward actions ended with sand or insults being tossed in his face. Not everyone wants to have fun in the sun, and that's fine. But Luca does wish sometimes that he could make others experience the beach the way he does. There's so much wonder in every aspect of it: the aroma of sugary fried dough wafting down from the boardwalk and mingling harmoniously with the smell of the salt and faint but ever-present suntan lotion; the sound of the waves ceaselessly hitting the sand beneath the pleasant thrum of laughter and conversation; the way the sunlight glistens off the clear blue water, or the way the pier looks lit up in the dark of night. He just doesn't see how anyone could dislike such a place. Luca could come here every day, and he'd still never be tired of it.

The beach is the most interesting nature scene to paint because it changes every day! People bring new umbrellas, new tents, and the water is ever-changing. Each time the tide goes down, there are new sea creatures to photograph.
