the light in the dark wrote:Shiloh, the seemingly all knowing and completely understanding. He’s surrounded by the supernatural, and is one of the few in his small hometown that has the magical essence within him. Aside from his ‘pack’, Shiloh seems to be the only one. He’s uncommon too, a pack Emissary and a Spark. His pack isn’t solely composed of werewolves, some of the most vital links in that chain are a banshee who can sense death, and Shiloh himself. Shiloh hasn’t always known of his powers, and it’s barely been a year since the development. His wolfy ex-boyfriend, Jamison still defends him as though he’s as delicate as a glass sculpture.
Yes, Shiloh is a gangly idiot. Well, actually he’s extremely smart, and not an idiot at all. Just oblivious at times and he makes archaic references that half his friends and neighbors don’t know exist, and is obsessed with comic books that out-date him. None of them are really sure how he does it, remains social and open to people. He’s been used plenty of times, and most have no clue what he’s talking about. So it’s beyond everyone else as to why Shiloh still insists that everyone deserves first, second, and third chances.
Shiloh has never been seen as much more than a talkative teenger to those he hasn’t entrusted with his secret, those that are privy to his change adore his never ending talking. He can break tension easily and with a pack of werewolves ran by an emotionally constipated mountain man, it’s desperately needed. The pack is possibly the only to be aware of his protective and armored personality, making Shy a lethal surprise attack. He’s stronger than all of his werewolf and banshee friends, mentally, and spiritually. He’s a stubborn dork, and that’s what people love about him. Or they hate about him… either way many know of him, not many actually know him.
His best friend Jamison, he’s been there for a long time. When his parent’s divorced, James was there. Playing video games with him, encouraging him to do better, and being the brother Shiloh never had. Shiloh has since grown less dependant on James but nonetheless they remain best friends.

hobbies wrote:Shiloh is a true librarian and studies the worlds he knows. It's his hobby, to know more, and when he was normal... well it was his way of fighting the good fight. His werewolf buddies would get pissed if he fought, doesn't mean it stopped him. Many a time he saved the werewolves from wounds they could easily repair within days, where he now has scars. His knowledge has left the modern day world quiet and seemingly normal, many supernatural occurrences have been dealt with before reports and complaints could be sent out.
But with Shy, not everything is knowing, learning is just as amazing. He studies people, studies his friends and the people that surround him. It's something he does, it makes him such an acquired taste, the fact that he can finish your sentences without even thinking, he can name your favorite genre of music, and what stereotype you may fall under within a week of knowing you. His group of friends all learned that it's his way of paying attention and bonding, knowing about the other person, learning the other person. Most of his relationships fall flat within the first week or so, if they don't they last for months, and can continue for years. It's both good and bad. One doesn't know Shiloh, without being known.

The colorful viscet looked to the book laid out in front of him, vampires. All he needed to know was how they finished their prey. To know if he had time to save the little girl. He read, skimming over paragraph by paragraph. There was so much filler text it was ridiculous, who cared if a vampire tended to have a more thin-lipped mouth? How about their feeding process?! His eyes widened, dread and impending doom creeping up on him.
His soft and fluffy fingers darted over the keys,' We have a night, by 1 AM she's a goner or a vampire.', he quickly hit send, knowing time was of the essence. It was already nine PM and sometimes gathering equipment was time-consuming. They needed crucifixes, holy water, and a pack of wolves. Werewolf blood is poisonous to vampires because of the massive healing qualities, it takes too much energy to process and tends to destroy the vampire because it continues to circulate through the vampire's filters in an attempt to digest it. ' Don't forget that she may consent to the bite. If you find she's been given choices you need to lay off.', he sent the texts as fast as his clawed and slender fingers could. The pack would've been off to the coven's den by now. They probably wouldn't make it till about 9:30, that was fine by Shiloh, as long as he had enough time to hop into his beat-up robin's egg blue 1979 Chevrolet pickup. Scuffs, rust, and claw marks patterned and littered the exterior with scars. It was a beautiful piece of work, and only Shiloh and the pack really knew what the claw marks were, to others it looked like traded paint. It was a wonderful masterpiece.
The pack was already inside the den, he could hear the shouts and screams. Shiloh felt his heart quicken, adrenaline soured his blood as he slammed the pickup door shut, a blade and holy water in hand. Most saw it as ridiculous, why bother fighting when you have a pack of supernatural dogmen to do your bidding because they believe you deserve the planning position? Well, Shiloh never lets the soldiers do everything, he wants to be a soldier too, fight alongside his best friends. They were a tight-knit pack, almost family. He would give anything for them all to fight side by side and share battle scars. Shiloh knew it was ridiculous, that werewolves don't scar unless wolfsbane is involved. He felt his throat choke up in jealousy as he entered the house, blade drawn. The windows were open, lights off, and doors busted. He felt a whimper escape his lips, he had a bad feeling the girl might not make it. With a wistful flick of his head, he knocked the thought from his mind. Squaring his jaw, Shiloh sprinted into the room with the most noise, the vampires were battling the werewolves in a mass of bodies and teeth. The girl was hung upside down with a gag in her mouth. A surge of fierce need washed over Shiloh, he needed to save her alone. The werewolves would be fine without him. He used his blade to cut her down, other arm braced against her for when her weight came crashing down. When she was free from the rafters the girl was slung over his shoulder as he ran. He had a human girl over his shoulder, while many vampires fought a conglomeration of miscellaneous supernatural creatures and werewolves. It was a beautiful unity of the supernatural populations. He set the young girl upright in the passenger side of his pickup before he freed her of the gag and bindings at her feet, uncoiling the tightly wrapped rope. "Are you alright, dear?", his deeper than expected voice soothed the girl, her wild eyes looking to him for once," Yeah... I just wanna go home.", Shiloh nodded and started the pick-up," I need to take you to the police station first, you can meet my daddy, the sheriff!", Shiloh smiled easily. It normally excited people to hear that the sheriff's kid had found them, made them feel like they were in trained hands.
They had no idea.
" I can't believe you just left. And not in a bad way, but normally you stay even if we don't want you to.", Jamison grumbled. A small smile splayed across his face, he was happy Shiloh hadn't remained in the line of fire. It made him more able in a fight, having to worry less for his best friend. Shiloh rolled his eyes in frustration," I'm not a frail flower! I have powers you wouldn't believe, and they're only going to grow stronger the more time passes.", the anger had barely lasted a word of his statement as he began to twirl his fingers, a golden projection of a wolf pack, running from his slender fingers to surround the room. For once it made sounds, the clicking of claws, the heavy breathing of the ethereal wolves. There were stray yips as the wolves hunted prey, nipping the ears of Jamison as he gazed in wonder at the smokey canines. " I've never doubted you,", Jamison's eyes flickered back down to Shiloh. He smiled before speaking again," I don't doubt you, I just... if push comes to shove I would give my life in return. You risk your life always, I can't handle not returning the favor, you're the vitals of this pack, you make everyone smile, you share knowledge that saves lives of both us and the mortals we run amongst. I don't doubt you, I just don't want to lose you.", his eyes softened. His voice was deep and soft, almost that of a big cat's purr," I can't lose you. The pack can't lose you.", he smiled, a deep flush covering his harsh features. Jamison's eyes crinkled, a soft and happy glow remaining as he pulled Shiloh into a firm and warm hug.

Greetings there! I am Styn and to
answer this question, that question
being what is my favourite past
time, we must look back to my life
when I was growing up!
You see, I grew up in the a nice Irish
town called Malahide, which is about
ah... 20 clicks north of the city center
on the east cost? That sounds about
right. It is a pleasant place to be for
the non glossy folk with the sun
shinin' down on ya day in day out, the
rocking of the boats along the harbour
edge, the lovely community that is
there cause the locals are legends in
their own right and the landmarks,
oh boy the landmarks! They wouldn't
let me into Malahide castle cause they
didn't want to clean the fur up when I
would walk through. Shame that, I'd
love to see the place.
Aha, I digress, it's easy to get
carried away isn't it?
I ne'er really knew me ma or pa, but a
nice lass took me in under her wing
with her fiance. He was a local
fisherman, and spent most 'his life
on the water. I could never really see
myself doing that, being a fisher is
tough stuff; but I gotta say the man
deserved all the respect he got.
I actually tried fishing once, it didn't
go very well. Apparently me coat was
an inconvenience cause it kept
blinding the fishermen, and scaring
the fish. And also I ended up falling
into the boat and couldn't swim. I'm
just eternally glad that I was saved
by the fiance when he dived in
after me. What a champ.
Since that ended on a low note, I
rather avoid the water all together.
Instead, I stayed inside with the lass
and she would do various knitting,
crochets and other interesting
woven do dads. I dunno how she did
it, but she made one that looks just
like me!
She ended up teaching me how to
knit, make scarfs, create stuffed
toys and a plethora of various stuff
all with a simple skill. It's amazing
what one could create!
Not only that, the neighbour next
door began to teach me various
finery with fabrics and how to
create rugs and all sorts of things.
Got a bit more drabble to write
here, but I'll leave that to the next
column yeah?

When you're a kid, you tend
to do some pretty interesting
things with yourself. Namely,
causing shenanigans. I was one
of those lads growing up. Oh
yes, out of the whole household
that I lived with, I was the
stereotypical trouble maker.
I remember back in my earlier
years the lass and lad had a day
off and took us all out to the
local park near the rocky shores
close to the lighthouse. We were
admiring the scenery and how
beautiful it truly was, until the
storm came. I hate storms. I
don't hate many things but
storms, mate those scare the
crap out of me. I hid under the
car and was determined to
never leave.
Of course, the lass and lad
weren't a fan of me antics and
quickly pulled me out and tossed
me in the back of the ute we had.
I was soaked. Absolutely soaked.
So to get back em for leavin'
me high and dry, I decided to shake
myself when the two of them were
around, they never saw it coming.
But then... Well. That was one of
my happiest moments. Now the
sad path of life. The two of em
drowned when the boat capsized
off the coast and I was left alone.
It was hard, I didn't know how most
things worked, and to be fair getting
a job when you can only knit and do
general things was not really promising.
I ended up deciding to move out of
Ireland and go across the world, and I
was so glad I did that oh yes indeed.
I met my now best friend ZeyMah in
Australia!
We hang out all the time, though
I have to admit hanging out ends up
causing a plethora of shenanigans
along with them. One time I glued
glass shards onto the poor lad
while he was asleep! All in good
taste of course, but he suited
the coloured glass look!
When I think about it, me life
hasn't been as tough as what it
could've been, but it's been a
rollercoaster and one I don't regret
Till Next time
