☆☆ On Tsuki's fourteenth birthday, his mother had gone out and bought him a wooden sculpture of the solar system, which from then became his favorite possession. But he, being the clumsy child he was, set it beside the openly lit fireplace. His mother had left temporarily to get more supplies for what she was baking, and Tsuki went to nap for a while.
He never intended for it to happen. During his nap, his wooden sculpture had caught fire, and with it, the firewood beside it. Fire had spread across the house's walls, and when his mother came back, she ran in to the burning building to save him. When she was about to leave again, fire had already spread to the last exit and she was left stuck in the building.
But she was calm. She wrapped her arms around her son and held him close. "It's going to be alright... mommy's here..." She had told him, shielding him from the smoke and flames. He had calmed down and fallen asleep from her soft, calming voice.
And then, Tsuki woke up. Rain had put out the flames. The building had mostly burnt down. But he felt something cold resting on him, and he moved to see what it was - the body of his mother, and then, he immediately knew what had happened.
On the days to follow, he had gone back and napped with her body for days on end, talking to her before he slept and after he woke up. And when her body was gone, he would nap where it used to be, still talking to her like she was always there.
The old, burnt down building was his favorite place to nap from then on. ☆☆
