username: Hello! You all know me as Flurr, a teenager from the south west of Canada, British Columbia to be specific. I have lived in this area
for my entire life, so this Tolter really caught my attention, and is in fact one of the main reasons I decided to start becoming active in the
species once again.

name: NSE No More Lifelines - "Canuck"
His show name is part of a quote from Canucks player Jannik Hansen, a professional ice hockey right winger from Denmark. His barn name references two things: firstly, and most prominently, the ice hockey team from my own city, that I regularly attend games of. And secondly, the general term for Canadians.

gender: Biological, Canuck is a stallion.

Image

theme song: Icon For Hire - Hope of Morning

personality: Canuck has a powerful voice and presence, and is thus very well-known throughout his stable; and is quite popular among the ranks of equines and bovines. Despite his confident outward appearance, just a quick conversation can reveal that he's in fact quite doubtful of himself, and the most bashful stallion you could imagine, Canuck is extremely humble, though that doesn't make him good at sharing. He's immature in the way that if he and someone else both want something, he's quick to snatch it up and avoid the other until they forget about it. He needs constant reassurance from his best friend Siberian, who he lives mostly in the shadow of. He doesn't mind being outshone by his friend, but he does like to take the spotlight at times. When talking to other tolters, they more often than not want to speak to Siberian rather than Canuck. But the smaller manchado stallion speaks up whenever he can, often jutting in with little stories he was reminded of. He has a very photographic memory, and often stays up the entire night, replaying his worst and best memories over and over in his head, and it dramatically effects his performance the next day. The worse the situations he was reminiscing on, the more irritable and down he'll be the next day; which is why he can come off as grumpy to others, when he's usually just sad. Canuck never holds a grudge, and instead prefers to find any way he can to resolve his problem peacefully.

history: Canuck was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Despite his unique coat which didn't fit the colouration of the regular Royal Canadian Mounted Police's mount, he was recruited, even if only to be used in the annual musical ride. At age eighteen he was retired from his job, and as his rider didn't have the space nor money to take him in as a pet, the stallion was put up for auction. Despite his flashy coat and gentleness towards adults and children alike, not many wanted a horse who could barely ride. Canuck was in many homes for the next two years, none much good, but none horrible or traumatic. When he was finally taken in by his current home, Canuck was still in his bland state of mind from the boring past years, and wasn't very animated or interested immediately. But after a week or two of constant attention and affection, Canuck began becoming more excited by the daily arrival of stablehands to take him out to the paddocks, and at this point in his life, at age twenty-two, he lives a lovely life.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtime - sunrise and sunset
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtrait - honest
dislikes:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
food - Gravenstein applesxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
season - Summerxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

occupation: Previously, Canuck was a mount for the RCMP, also known as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He didn't do much of any actual work on the force, but he was a regular member of the annual musical ride in his home town. At age eighteen, however, he was retired. When being moved to his new stable, at age twenty, he wasn't immediately used for riding, largely as his new owner had wanted him more as a companion, and a part of a winter and fall event at the barn. He now spends his days as a friend to the stablehands and managers, and during the winter and latest weeks of autumn, he pulls small sleds for children at the fair, alongside his younger friend Christmas, who pulls the enormous, jingling horse sled, often carrying multiple adults with ease. Canuck isn't able to stay outdoors for most of the day like Christmas, mainly due to how thick the other stallion's coat is, and how thin his own is. He's not shocked by the cold, after living in Eastern Canada most of his life, but still becomes chilly quite fast, and especially at his age, the stablehands would prefer for him not to get sick.

relationships:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Image
Siberian - Canuck has known Siberian ever since he moved to the barn. Sib was always the most
welcoming, even if he wasn't outright the nicest horse at the stable. He was helpful in teaching the new
stallion how things worked, warning him about the more violent stallions and mares, and lecturing him
on what the others liked and hated. He took the much older stallion under his wing. The two quickly
became inseparable, even if Siberian did act like more of a mentor than a friend at first. But the
manchado stallion grew on him, and the smaller horse would now do anything in his power to protect
Canuck, and Canuck would gladly provide the same service. Siberian is always mesmerized by the
other equine's stories of the musical ride in his home town, and pressures him for every details; the
colours of the flags waving above, the time of day, what the humans who cheered him on looked and
sounded like. He treats Canuck's saddle cloth like a rare, and priceless artifact, and stares at it as if it's
made of solid gold. The two are certainly a dynamic, and very, very talkative duo.

Image
Christmas - Canuck and Christmas aren't as close as him and Siberian, but the two are certainly
good friends. They spend the wintry months pulling sleds, side-by-side, and the selfless, cream
coated stallion has certainly made a good impression, and is likely one of the warmest, happiest souls
that Canuck has met in his two-year stay at the stable. The two often play in the snow, and both
enjoy walking to the cooler locations in town during the warmer months. The two of them are likely
the most well-known horses at the barn: the long-coated, gorgeous sled horse, and the flashy, retired
police horse. The two of them do enjoy the attention, and especially how they get visited roughly
once a week, small children bringing their favourite treats; peppermints for Christmas, and Tim
Torton's maple donuts for Canuck. Though Christmas' fur does prove to be an obstacle in most
relationships, as he can't be outside when it's warm for an extended period of time, these two both
dislike the heat, and when they're need to cool down inside, they're put in neighboring stalls.

Want to meet Canuck? Of course! He's one of the most popular horses here in the mounted police force. Though he doesn't conform to the typical look of our horses, his personality perfectly captures every element that we look for in the perfect equine candidate to work for us. In exchange for blankets, a place to call home, and the occasional timbit, he gives us amazing service - he's even been responsible for saving lives with the aid of his rider! How you ask? Here's the story. I'm sure you've heard of the annual dogsled races. They're speedy, exciting, and action-packed, although the terrain can be treacherous. Last year, part of the course ran across a lake that had frozen over as it does every winter. It's never caused a problem, but last year, things changed. The ice, as you've probably guessed, cracked under the pressure and weight of the sled teams passing over it. Nobody knew what to do as one of the teams began to slip into the frigid water below, but we all knew that if no one stepped in, they'd be goners; hypothermia is deadly! Thankfully, we had one horse on site, Canuck. With his great sense of hearing, he heard the ice cracking from quite a far distance away and instantly took off in that direction. His rider was confused at first, but trusted his horse's instincts and was shocked to see the sight that soon lay ahead of him. The rider grabbed a rope off of the sled and tied one end to the sled and one to the saddle on Canuck's back and asked the horse to walk forward. With all his might, Canuck managed to pull the half submerged sled and each dog out of the water, but it took a few tries since his shoes had trouble gripping the slippery wet ice. Breathing heavily, he looked up from staring at the canines that he'd just rescued and looked towards the crowds who'd gathered to watch the race. They were cheering for him. All of them. When he noticed that all eyes were on him, he straightened himself out a bit and raised his head, looking confident, but alert. That's when we all think he found his calling; to serve and protect. Sure he'd been on the job for a few months but that was the defining moment when we knew that he was doing what he does best. He embodies the true Canadian spirit; he's hardworking, loyal, determined, kind, helpful, and courageous. Oh, and that day was also when we discovered his love for timbits. A little girl came up, asking to pet his nose, so of course we let her. When she asked to give him a treat, her mother had a box in her hand, so we let her see if he liked them, and he definitely did. He excitedly plucked three old fashioned timbits out of her small hands before the family had to leave. Anyways, for his amazing act, he won a service award, and later was asked to walk in a local parade. Hearing the cheering crowd made him perk up again and he walked with quite some flair in his step. When they're not busy at work, he and his rider both enjoy going out on trail rides in the parks and forests nearby. A horse like him is always deserving of a nice break.
