We were at a family friend's place not too long ago to have dinner, and wow was it pretty out there.
They lived on property, so their night sky wasn't polluted with suburban streetlights, and you could see the stars stretched from beyond the furthest hill on their land to the illuminated city 60 kilometres away.

what does this cow really like about nighttime?: Stella loves looking at the constellations. This is how she connects with others. Discussing established patterns within the stars is something she’s a pro at, but she also loves making up new constellations while giggling with whoever she’s spending her time with. Her parents met and fell in love under a beautiful, starry sky, and Stella holds this story close to her heart. She wants to have a connection like her parents have some day, and she wants to fall in love under the starry embrace of the night sky just as they did. She’s still waiting on the right someone, but that isn’t stopping her from enjoying the nighttime to the fullest.

what does this cow really like about nighttime?:
Adelaide's life is crazy most days, making her exhausted and overwhelmed. There have been times where
she hasn't even been able to take a deep breath until darkness falls. To her, there is something surreal about the quiet
hum of the night, it helps her handle everything that is trying to knock her down. The peaceful stillness is welcoming as an introvert, she loves stealing away night hours alone, pondering things she would have never been able to do during the hasty morning. She really believes the night is magical- the way clocks slow and the seconds creep, the way night seems to run on it's own time renews her imagination; something that would've been long lost had it not been for those silent hours alone, with nothing but her own mind for company.

Addie loves all the time to herself. It's so quite and peaceful most the time. However, she's always looking forward to something unusual or spooky to happen! She's a huge believer in the supernatural, even though the other animals think she's crazy.

what does this cow really like about nighttime?: Leila loves the noise. The miniature chaos the night brings where she lives. She goes out into her field and settles down with her legs tucked under her and just listens. She listens to the chirp of the crickets, the buzz of the cicadas. She sometimes hears wolves howling to eachother in the distance. She hears the hoot of owls, and the excited scurrying of mice and rabbits underground. It isn't uncommon for her to fall asleep to the noise. Sometimes Leila will be out listening for so long that stray cats will come up and sleep by her, as if she were a giant warm rock. Once, Leila was even spotted with an owl sleeping on her back and a catbird perched on her ears, cooing softly.

Stars

So many ways to describe them
It looked as if cookies cutters were pressed into the night sky
or like scattered gems
maybe even glowing butterflies flying by

So many types of stars
Dashing stars with glowing tails
Or small little stars you could put in jars
Even some that haven't removed their veils

buona notte, little one
today wasn't very good,
but now that the stars are out
you can hide away and stay safe

there are no harsh rays
no bright, revealing light
just the stars and gentle moon
just as the tide breathes in
and moves back out,
your body will, too
but for tonight you will have time to heal

as with all things, like the cycle
of the rising sun and setting sun
this too will come full circle, but
until you believe that
until you are brave enough to try again
the night will protect you
give you a moment's rest
