There was very little Dawnfading disliked. Everyone's world was already bruised and broken;
fuelling the negativity wouldn't make it better. Instead, she tried to see the bright side of everything.
It was all she could do considering she was, well, deaf.

Her impairment meant she had no say in the soundscape that sifted around her: the ambience,
the voices, the sounds of home. But the one sense she did pride in, sight, was enough for her to realise
her least favorite thing of all.

The darkness.

A heavy, lurking, patient thing. It crammed itself into every creeping crevice and corner. It
cracked across the horizon like shadowy prison bars. It twinged Dawnfading with a muted melancholy,
knowing that her silent realm she had always known was perhaps better off than the one beyond; one
filled with shrieking, sobbing and final breaths.

But she had enough of silence in her life--her only access to reality should at least be bright!
That's why she's taken it upon herself to brighten up everyone else's day whenever she can. It certainly
won't make the darkness go away. But the healing? The smiles? The hope?

They make it all the more bearable.
