What are they glutton for?: She is a glutton for sweets. But not just any sweets. Watermelon is her sweet. Watermelon candy, actual watermelon, watermelon juice, you name it, she needs it. She'll eat around 5 whole watermelons a day if no one stops her. Her reasoning is hard to get out of her but when you get it out of her you'll understand her eating habits. When she was a young calf, only a few weeks old, her owner fed her solely grass. Gala didn't mind this, as it was all she knew, but one day her owner dropped a chunk of watermelon next to her. The second the sweet smell reached her little nose she went bonkers trying to get the watermelon chunk before her owner could grab it away from her. Lucky for her, she was young and her owner was old and slow. She got the juicy piece of watermelon in her mouth and would never eat grass again.
Goodbye

What are they glutton for?: this big girl has the fever for twinkies. She can't get enough of that spongey cake and the creamy inside makes her melt. Although it does leave a greasy residue in her mouth that is unpleasant, she hardly has time to notice it before another Twinkie passes her lips. Why does she have this crazy obsession with the sweet treat? On one hoof she actually hates them and only eats them when she feels poorly. But then again there is this small voice in the back of her mind that says if she eats enough of them her milk will be flavored like a Twinkie. This would make all the other heifers jealous of her and the farmer would see her as his prized cow. Who knows maybe she could win something at the county fair!

What are they glutton for?: Poppy is big into traveling and has been all around the world. She’s quite the globetrotter for such a young heifer. She absolutely considers herself a foodie, and insists on trying the best of the best foods where ever she finds herself. One of her favorite places to visit is New York City. The hustle and bustle, the glittering lights, the over-the-top musical productions on Broadway, but best of all, the food. There are many cuisines NYC is known for. The city has many culturally diverse neighborhoods which offers many tasty authentic international dishes that you can’t find anywhere else in the U.S. It’s also a hot spot for finding lots of Italians, as well as some of the most exquisite Italian dishes around. Even the dollar slices of pizza out on the street taste so much better here than anywhere else.

Poppy remembered before her first trip to the Big Apple that everyone kept telling her that there’s no bagel like a New York bagel. She didn’t understand. What could be so special about a bagel? Bagels were her favorite type of bread, but how could anyone really improve upon them any further? Heck, she would even seem claims like these in the windows of her local cafes and bakeries. Everyone always advertised as having fresh, New York style bagels. But what was the hype? She just didn’t understand. Poppy would always make a face of disbelief at those who told her this, and then she would go home and make a bagel-based meal to calm herself down. She always thought of the bagel as such a tasty yet versatile food. Bagels go great with cream cheese or butter, can be used to make a sandwich, turned into pizza bagels, baked into crispy and addictive bagel chips... oh man the list just goes on and on! There was no convincing Poppy that any bagel could be better than what she already was eating. At least until... her trip to the big city.

The always hungry heifer fulfilled her promises to friends to try an authentic New York bagel at some point during her first trip there. One bite was all it took; she was in love. Of all the places she had been, and all of the exotic foods she has tried, this bagel was one of the best things she had ever eaten. There was something about the texture and the overall flavor of it, it was completely different than any other bagel she had ever had. There was no turning back now. She gorged herself on the doughy wheels of goodness as much as she could before she had to leave. She bought a bulk order of bagels to bring home with her. Eventually, after enough trips to NYC and these types of ordeals, she worked out a deal to get these bagels shipped to her house, so that she could enjoy them anytime that she wanted.

(Can you tell I’ve been watching too many food shows/really want a bagel? Thank you NYC for having bagels good enough for people to always rave about them on tv/online so I could pour my heart out about,,, bagels)

𝓬𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓲𝓸𝓹𝓮

A young heifer was rejected by her mother after only a week of nursing, leaving her under the care of the barn's owners. As she grew up she was coddled, getting endless treats, affection and care. The birth of her first calf was the most over-the-top thing you would've ever experienced - pillows, blankets, flowers, the most expensive straw money can buy, a heaping pile of lucerne hay and to top it all off - a professional photographer to capture it all. As ridiculous as it may seem for anyone else, the couple that owned this barn saw this cow as their own child. Unfortunately, all this coddling could only mean one thing - the calf was going to be just as spoiled as her mother.
That calf was little princess Calliope.
Calliope was always a calf of expensive tastes, considering the first ever bed she laid on was soft and plushy and the hay she ate was the most expensive out of all the stockfeed stores in the area. Unlike most calves, she wasn't weaned off of her mother until she was a year old - she was almost as big as her by the time she stopped drinking milk! This left little Calliope with a craving for milk, and that craving was one she satisfied with a summer favourite - ice cream.
Well, being the spoiled heifer that she was, Calliope wouldn't be content with just any ice cream - it had to be exotic and of course, expensive. Her owners could never just give her a tub, not even a waffle cone - she loves her ice cream served in a particular way.
Taiyaki are a popular Japanese street food - a fish-shaped cake made of waffle batter and filled with anything from Nutella to red bean paste. In most recent years, Taiyaki has been topped with ice cream, with pretty toppings and all kinds of flavours, and Calliope is all over the trend. Calliope could eat taiyaki for days and days on end, and despite offers of extra hay and treats, she'd always turn them down in favour of a fish-shaped ice cream cone.
