What are Khimaira Friesians?
Khimaira Friesians are a "normal" friesian breed with all characteristics of a friesian and a average height from 15 to 17 hands, but even 18 hands can occur. The first born Khimaira was mistaked for a chimera horse. But a genetic test showed otherwise, there wasn't a second DNA but a complete new and unknown gen. Because this gen makes the friesian look like a chimera it was named khimaira. khimaira doesn't produce a complete new dna coat and therefor it can only lighten or darken the base coat of the horse. Till now only the paint khimaira is known that makes the khimaira coloration looks like tobiano, overo, sabino or splash. But we believe that there will be more khimaira variations out there and we still try to breed them. Appaloosas are not known till now, but we have some great friesian mixed horses with appaloosa patterns, so we are sure to deliver them to you in a short amount of time.

I've been gone a minute! Basically what happened is a little mishap with some worn tack (not my own) and a retired racehorse (also not my own) granted me a sizeable fall. Its all fine though, I should have been more attentive in the moment and thats on me. Anyways, speaking of racehorses, why don't you tell me your favorite? If i have to be honest, one of my favorites is The Green Monkey, who actually sired our OTTB, Val, alternatively known as Valerie's Green Jet. Heres a (bad) picture of him if you're curious!!!!

Racehorse: Phar Lap is my favourite racehorse hands down. He had the biggest heart, literally. It weighs just over 6kg's. This is more than 1.5 times the weight of an average thoroughbred racehorse heart, which weighs 3–4kg's. Between 1929-1932, 'Big Red' or 'Bobby' ran 41 races over various distances from 7 furlongs (1,400 m) to 2 miles, and he won 36 of them. He currently resides at Melbourne Museum, and I visit him often, being just down the road. lol ^.^

Racehorse: My favorite will always be Secretariat because I watched that movie so many times and cried shamefully during both the sad and cute parts (his birth) in the film. I'm not afraid to admit I cried for that cute little one. I am sad to know he died in 1989 due to laminitis at age 19 (So young!). Overpampered to death in his late years. I've always intended to get around to watching Seabiscuit when I had time, but I doubt would ever overcome my love for Secretariat's story.

Also, racehorse culture!! You're so lucky to be able to ride them! I've always admired jockeys for their bravery on getting on any horse and riding so well! Keep up the good work!
And PuppygirlWillow, to be so close to such a cool museum is amazing! I wish to visit Australia someday myself!
