Name Meaning: Oisin is the name of a man in Irish folklore, son of Fionn mac Cumhail (Finn MacCool) who is said to have built the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. The name translates to "little deer". He was a warrior hero and a poet.
The story goes that he falls in love with a woman of the Otherworld, Niamh, and she takes him to the land of Tir na nÓg (Land Of Youth) on the back of a magical horse who could walk on water. When he got there he felt homesick and asked to be taken home. Reluctantly she takes him back but when they returned to Ireland 300 years had passed. Niamh warned him not to set foot on the ground, but he fell from the horse and instantly became elderly and died of old age
