Story;; It was her first outing as a scout and she couldn't be more excited. She was teased when she was younger because of her puny size and sickly demeanor but today she swore she'd put them all to shame. Yes it may just be a simple perimeter scout but she was sure something would happen, she felt it in her very bones. Daimhin knew the route already, not only from the brief this morning but also from the countless times she walked it in her youth, eager to become a scout and contribute to the herd. The small group of horses accompanying her pranced in place, clinking their beads together in excitement, her first real mission! Suddenly the lead Scout began a moderate trot towards the outskirts of the territory, the small mare expecting her troop to follow diligently. Daimhin was bored after.about an hour following the line of scouts. She wanted action, adventure! Not a slow trot around the grounds. Snorting in frustration she began to slow down and let her eyes wander around her. A shrill whinny pierced the twilight air and her ears swiveled towards the sound, her beads screeched as she came to a dead stop. To her horror she saw what little of the group remained in front of her. The stone bridge that the small herd was going across crumbled, leaving multiple horses buried beneath the rubble. The only ones standing across the raging river was
the lead Scout and two stallions, all of which looking back at her. Then she realized she had no other way except by going across the river. Beads shaking from her trembling frame she began her journey towards the rest of her squad, starting with crossing the frothing rover in front of her. Gathering all the courage in her thin frame Daimhin plunged into the icy abyss. Her first thought was it was freezing, her second was that she was running out of air. Kicking wildly she got a foothold on a stray rock and breached the surface with a shuddering gasp of air before being dragged back down. Her vision started to turn black and she watched as the last of her air bubbles rose to the surface before closing her tired eyes. The next thing she knew was the hard ground of the bank and the burning of the water in her nostrils. A very wet stallion was looking at her with wide eyes and with a shaky breath she closed her eyes once more and felt herself being carried back to the herd.
