Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.

Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

Halloween is almost here so I made something small for the occasion. <3
What you need to do is tell me what they planned to do for this upcoming
Halloween. You have about 600 words maximum. To boost up your chances
to win, is by coding up a bit in your forms I'll mostly be finding that in
this contest.

halloween story; pricilla had prepared for halloween extra carefully this year, paying attention to even the finest details and nuances. she cleared her schedule ahead of time so she had every moment available to prepare. she even went the extra mile and did it all herself, ensuring everything was up to her standards of quality needed for the event she had planned later tonight.

each pumpkin was hand-carved, the face of each pumpkin different from every other, and each pumpkin was hand-picked at the local pumpkin patch. they were in all different sizes, but they all were bright orange, and were short and stout. the candy was bought in big bags, then sorted out into bowls. an even amount of each type of candy was then distributed to each bowl to ensure what one received when they dipped their paw into the bowl could be totally random. each vampire fangs gummy was painted with red food coloring on the tips, and the skeleton and pumpkin gummies were dyed to enrich the colors. the punch was made to taste ever so vaguely like candy, and all the suckers were wrapped in halloween patterns. the candy eye balls were made from scratch, and the iris and pupils were painted on with food dye with a careful hand.

baubles and decorations and trinkets lit up and covered the whole house -- more like a mansion, really -- and the outside was just as dolled up. not a single window didnt have festive halloween garland around the edges and window clings of various halloween figures and symbols. the door had a giant bat plush in the center, and small gourds lined the sidewalk leading up to the front door. alternating purple and orange lights blinked continuously around the whole house, and cut outs of monsters and pumpkins made to look like they were vomiting their own guts were place in random places around the yard. a corn maze lay on the outskirts of the property, dipping into the forest and leading back into the front yard.

she made several costume for the night, all sewn through herself using existing costumes and adding onto them or making her own. masks were also made to be given out, differently colored fabric and patterns on each one. each costume was made with a certain type of guest in mind, should they not have a costume, and each mask was made to match. the whole home was scrubbed clean to ensure the costumes wouldnt become dirty, and she took it on herself to maintain the level of cleanliness the whole week.

there were several scares and tricks scattered throughout the house as well, courtesy of a certain prankster's help. such as sometimes, if one rings the door bell, they'll receive a little shock, like from a hand buzzer. the hands in the candy bowls will occasional grab the person's hand if they tried to take candy, scaring those who bravely dared to take more, but also providing a reward for those who are quick enough to escape its bony clutches. the stairs are meant to seem daunting already, but occasionally, a guest might find that the top of the staircase doesnt seem to be getting any closer, and in actuality, is getting farther and farther away. inside some of the closets, "monsters" lurk in the dark, complete with voice boxes with the most realistic monster sounds she could find. guests may also find eyeballs in their drinks or their pumpkin soup, or maybe, the unsuspecting guest will come across the "severed" head of another guest underneath a rather innocent looking platter. "Yeah, there's a corn maze nearby.
Plus it's Halloween, a whole bunch of new horror
movies came out so there's gonna be a whole
bunch of new monsters, and they have candy!"

She'd been planning this all year. The costume,
the pranks, the place, everything. "If you get
scared you can stand behind me... I'm pretty
much a meat shield." Unfortunately, even
after planning for so long, some people were
still scared of jumpscares. They hadn't gone
through the training. Horror movies, thriller
novels, games with far too many jumpsares,
practicing on your friends.

As the group entered they agreed to split up into
pairs. There was one problem. There was going
to be one person left over. As people found their
partners Kegan realized that she'd be the one
without anyone to watch her back. Shrugging it
off as they entered the maze she grinned,
shouting, "You're too slow, come on!"
Finally, all of the time she'd put into preparing
for this would pay off.

Just as they entered a man with a clown mask
jumped out from behind a hay barrel, holding
out what appeared to be a chainsaw.
One pair had followed her here, and now were
hiding behind her. The figure stepped forward
as Kegan grinned, waving at him. Revving the
weapon she held up her arm as a shield. It was
warm, but that was just from the friction.

The figure stepped back into his den, if it could be
called that, and appeared to be waiting for the next
group. Turning around to face the two she smiled,
chirping, "See, I told you that I'd protect you!"
