Kurokku
Name Meaning
クロック ~ Her name means Clock. She never had a family, but everyone noticed that she always had a pocket watch with her at all times. When people tried to talk to her about it, she always changed the subject, earning the name Kurokku, or Clock, because of it.

Kuro sighed, fumbling with her watch. She looked up every once and a while to scan for people, but continued with her work.
"Dimensions, time, what about planets?" She asked herself, pausing for a moment. She got an idea, pulled on her jacket lightly, and then headed to her apartment, shutting and locking the door behind her. Going into her room, she set her pocket watch on her desk and gathered tools, setting them on the desk as well. She sat down, fumbling with the clock's mechanics.
"Knock knock." A male voice sounded from behind her door, followed by a few rough knocks on the wood.
"Come in." Kuro replied, not looking up. The light from the living room seeped through as the familiar gecko-looking viscet opened the door.
"What'chu, uhh... doin'?" Yuki asked, looming over her shoulder. She placed a paw on his face and pushed him back roughly, not turning around.
"Working. What do you want?"
"Just wanted to know if I could come with you on your next adventure."
"Yeah, uh, sure, now shoo." She said mindlessly, waving her paw at him. Yuki huffed and started for the door.
"Let me know when-"
"Crap." Kuro cut him off, as her clock started glowing. She grabbed Yuki's arm and stared at him. "You wanted an adventure, you're getting one." She said harshly, scaring Yuki a bit as the clock glowed, and a flash filled the room.

Yuki found himself on the dirt, rubbing his eyes, looking up at Kuro.
"What..."
"I accidentally hit something," Kuro explained, closing her watch, "now we're here."
"Where is... 'Here'?"
"Another dimension. The clock can go forward and backward in time, the inside can go to other dimensions."
"Then what were you working on?"
"Something stupid." She huffed. Her ears then perked as a distant roar sounded from behind the trees, as birds, that didn't even look like birds, flew from them.
"What was that?" Yuki asked frantically. Kuro whipped around and slapped him.
"Another dimension," she growled, "there's a lot of unusual creatures here." She grabbed his arm, yanked and dragged him the opposite direction of the roar, into the forest.

The dimension had blue grass, normal trees, and green water. The more they walked, the stranger it got, as the forest was also foggy and gloomy unlike plain areas.
"Scary." Yuki said as he was still being pulled.
"Yep." Kuro shrugged, stopping and dropping Yuki, who fell into a puddle. He didn't say a word as Kuro pulled out her clock fumbling with it a bit. Suddenly, the ground and trees shook, both of them looking up.
"What was-"
"Something big. Stop asking questions." Kuro growled, cutting him off. She stood in front of Yuki as a giant creature, who looked kind of like a dinosaur, except with two heads and a very long tail that wraps around the perimeter, stared down at them both. Its two heads tilted down at them, Yuki staring up at it. Kuro used her paw behind her back and signed him to stay quiet and slow, the creature leaning in closer.

It stepped closer, the ground shaking with each step. Kuro gulped, then quickly shoved her watch in her jacket pocket, grabbing Yuki, and ran. The creature roared and ran after them, one of its heads reaching out and trying to bite at Yuki, who was running behind with his arm gripped by Kuro.
"Can you run any slower?!" Kuro shouted to Yuki.
"Probably!" He barked back as Kuro tugged at him harshly. She ran faster, starting to drag him instead of him running by himself. Kuro wheezed a bit before stopping at a a very deep and large ravine. She looked back at the creature, who was getting closer. She took a deep breath, picked up Yuki, and threw him over the ravine. He yelped and landed on the other side, looking back at Kuro, who was very much out of breath.
"Look out!" He shouted, as Kuro turned and jumped out of the way of the creature just in time. The dinosaur roared and yelped as their bite missed her, sliding to the edge. The ground cracked and fell under them, as they fell. They scratched at the ground with it's longs arms and claws, managing to keep themselves by scratching at the side with his back claws. His hind leg bent and he set his foot on the ground as it pulled itself up. They snarled and roared, as Kuro ducked, arms over her head with fear. The creature started after her, but the ground behind it fell, them falling with it. Its roar faded and echoed through the ravine, a loud thud sounding after it, then it went quiet.

Kuro breathed in deeply, wheezing from fear. She managed to jump the ravine, and joined Yuki.
"What the heck, Kuro!" Yuki barked. Kuro smacked him out of instinct when he jumped at her.
"Hush." She growled, opening her watch and clicking something. She grabbed his arm as the clock flashed again, and they appeared back in her room. Kuro dropped Yuki, set the watch down, and sat in a chair.
"Get out, I want to work on this and you're a distraction." She said firmly.
"But I-"
"And clean yourself up. You're covered in mud, you know."
"And-"
"It'll stain your white fur."
"Kuro-"
"Stop trying to interrupt me. Now shoo." She waved her paw at him as he left, spinning her chair around to face her desk and continue. Yuki sighed as he shut the door behind him, then went to the bathroom to clean up.

---

Yuki knocked on Kuro's door.
"Kuro? You there?" He asked, cracking it open. Her lights were off, but there was no sign of her anywhere. She was gone. He huffed and walked inside, flipping on the lights.
"I'm your roommate, y'know. Can't just ignore me." He grumbled, flipping over the blankets on her bed, checking the closet and under the desk.He didn't see her come out, and the window wasn't open, either.
"Probably just on another adventure." He said to himself, with a shrug, "Guess I should just leave it and not worry." He hummed, shutting off the lights and closing the door.

~Meanwhile
Kuro gasped for breath as she sat on top of a tree, a raptor-looking dog, which had two heads like the creature from last time, barking and scratching at the tree under her. She leaned back on the tree's base, and stared at the sky. Here, where she is, she has been running for hours. In real time, for Yuki, it has been at least one hour. She went quiet, hearing sizzling behind her. Looking at the sound's cause, she figured out the canine could spit acid. With a sigh of disappointment and a grunt of fear, she hopped down. As soon as she hit the grass, she bolted.

"Cliff!" Sher barked to herself. She pulled out and opened her clock, then, without any fear, jumped off the edge. The raptor-dog skidded to a stop and howled down at her as she fell fast, before turning and leaving, thinking she was a goner. She laughed happily as she got the clock to work, and then there was another flash.

Yuki yelped as Kuro fell from nowhere, landing harshly on the ground. She stood up and rubbed her head, looking at him.
"Heh.. hi." She laughed, turning and going back to her room. He stared at her in both fear and shock, before slowly turning to watch TV. Kuro made it to her room, set her clock on the desk, flopped onto her bed, and passed out.

No more adventures. At least not today.

Username: Doctor Whooves Lover
Name: Bjorn (Meaning 'Bear' in Dutch) Is called Waking Cloud by his best friend, Pike (Not a Viscet yet but hopefully coming soon!)
Gender: Male
Extra 1 - Story: The night sky blazed with millions of stars, each one trying to prove itself brighter than the last. In the Village of Windcrest everything was quiet at night, the soft breeze through the field, the small click of cicadas. Bjorn liked the silence, it gave him time to think, away from that of his bouncy sister, Valkyrie, and their father, the Lord. Bjorn gave a sigh, staring up at the star ridden sky from his spot in the grass. Tomorrow was the day, his very first expedition that he was to lead. Excitement rushed through Bjorn and sent a shiver up his spine as he pictured it. The sail would be hosted, the rations packed away, and the crew would be all accounted for. Bjorn would step forward and raise his steel sword to the sky, slashing through the air to point it North, where they'd be headed. Bjorn clenched a tuft of grass as his excitement faded, sleep consuming him. Bjorn thought once more of the boat and slipped into a wonderful dream, curled up in the outskirts of the Village.
Something cold and wet splashed upon Bjorn’s muzzle and he jolted, abruptly sitting upright. Valkyrie chuckled to herself and Bjorn shot her a annoyed frown. But slowly his frown turned into curiosity and he stood up, shaking his fur or dirt or bits of grass. When he stood he was a tad taller than his sister who was 4’ 11”. Bjorn stood at the height of 5’ 2”, looking down his muzzle at his sister. Valkyrie never cared for the height difference, in fact if Bjorn remembered correctly she liked being short. Bjorn puffed his fur slightly and gave a short cough.
“Why have you woken me Val, it is very early morning, before the Sun has risen.” Bjorn said in Viking tongue (translated to English). Valkyrie gave one of her signature smirks and her stunted tail zipped in excitement. She grabbed her brother's arm and started to pull.
“Come Bjorn, you will see.” Valkyrie stated. Bjorn raised an eyebrow, skeptical that this wasn't just another one of his sister's tricks. Bjorn rubbed his eyes as he followed his sister, trying to shake out any sore bones that would slow him down, especially on such a day as of this. His mind drifted back to the excitement of his voyage, now only hours away. Valkyrie pulled him forward into an outcrop of trees, before letting go of his paw and signaling for him to follow. Bjorn picked up his speed to keep up with his sister as she ducked under branches and jumped over small logs. Finally after a couple of minutes Valkyrie stopped, the forest not as dense here. Bjorn looked around the area for clues, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No bright colors, no other sounds, no other Viscets, but then… there was a strange smell. Bjorn lifted his muzzle to the air and sniffed, standing on his tip toes. Valkyrie watched, pleased as he started to look around and smiled. Bjorn turned to face her, his face confused.
“What is that smell, smells like a feast but I see nothing. Explain Val.” Bjorn said and Valkyrie gave a laugh. She went over to a log, and went into the hollowed out portion. Bjorn watched, his curiosity peaked as he walked forward, to see where his sister had gone, but she popped back out with a whole load of different foods. These were foods Bjorn had never seen before, all looked so strange but smelled delicious. Valkyrie smiled and sat down the load on a flat rock, turning back to her brother.
“The Lord thought it would be good if you tried some strange food before your voyage to the Northern lands. It was hard not to eat them and even harder to come check back and make sure they didn't get eaten.” Valkyrie said, admiring the food as if it were a newborn. Bjorn was pretty impressed and patted Valkyrie’s shoulder, looking at the food. Bjorn smiled at his father's nice thoughts, trying strange foods would be good in case he came across them in the Northern lands. It was pretty smart, but Bjorn also wondered who had tested these first to make sure they weren't deadly. He walked over to the table and picked up what looked like a strange fruit, speckles danced on the surface of the fruit and on the top was a head of spikes.
“Well, sit with me Val, share this feast with me.” Bjorn said and motioned her over. Bjorn wished the moment would freeze in time, as Val was a Warrior and Bjorn a hunter/explorer it was hard for them to see each other. Bjorn tried to take time to visit his sister but it wasn't easy with all the tasks that had to be completed in one day. Valkyrie joined him, waiting for him to take the first bite. Bjorn sun his teeth into the fruit which was surprisingly tangy and juicy. Orange juice ran down his chin as he felt his snout wrinkle as a sudden burst of sourness hit. Valkyrie smirked as she bit into her fruit, juice squirting a bit.
“They call that fruit prickly ripe mango. It's good but sour.” Valkyrie said. Bjorn couldn't help but laugh and his sister joined in. Bjorn looked at his sister and for the first time he really saw how much she'd grown. She was a Warrior now, very tone and sleek. Bjorn pulled his sister into hug and rested his head on top of her’s sighing.
“I'll miss you Val, on this voyage. But I'll bring you back a chest full of riches, and father shall be proud.” Bjorn said softly, his sister's hair blowing softly in the breeze. Val looked up at her brother, her eyes shining as she smiled. Bjorn hadn't noticed, watching the trees sway as he sat enjoying the moment.
“Bjorn, you don't need to bring a chest of riches. I'm proud of you, my brother, his first voyage. Now you must get ready, go, see you in a week.” Valkyrie said, pulling out of the hug and standing on her tiptoes to rustle her brother's mane. Bjorn snickered and battered her paw away, nodding sharply. Valkyrie scooped up some of the food and wrapped it in a sack, handing it to Bjorn. Bjorn looked at the sack and turned on his heels, walking off. Valkyrie watched her brother go off on his first voyage, sitting on her back legs before going off to find Everest. Bjorn traveled back through the forest, letting his paws linger on some of the tree bark as he wouldn't be back for a while and might not feel trees for a while. As Bjorn came into view of the village Pike was at the edge waiting for him and giving a whoop when he saw his friend.
“Waking Cloud! There is the Viking himself, as strong as twenty men!” Pike yelled loudly and Bjorn scuffed, amused by his friend as he ran closer. Bjorn loved Pike like a brother, his best friend proving to be very loyal and a great fun when he was trying to be. But Pike was also a great Fisher, his arms strong after many years of hauling in nets. Bjorn was also very tone after his rowing practices every morning, and his flexed, pretty self confident in himself. Pike fake swooned and poked Bjorn’s ribs chuckling. “To bad he can't find himself a girl, he stinks of scat too much.” Pike clutched his side's, his laugh echoing off the trees. Bjorn playfully punched his friend's shoulder and brought himself up.
“Better than that awful fish smell.” Bjorn said in a snarky tone. Pike wrinkled his nose but didn't prod further as his grimace was replaced with excitement. Pike rushed down the path, Bjorn in tow as Pike described the ship they would be sailing together.
“Oh Bjorn it's one of the biggest ships I've ever seen! The wood is strong and thick oh oh and the sail, have you seen the beautiful sail?!” Pike wailed loudly. Bjorn had to admit that Pike was… very dramatic, kind of an… interesting trait for a Viking. Pike continued to rush forward excitedly, his smile never dropping for a second and Bjorn followed, each step becoming faster than the last. One thing Bjorn new about his friend was that his excitement was contagious. Soon Bjorn was at his side, rushing down to the water's edge, the ship docked on the rickety wooden bridge. Pike stopped before it and gazed at it longingly. “See I told you, one of the most beautiful ships you've ever laid your eyes on, yar?” Pike said confidently. Bjorn smirked at his friend and his weird words he used, like yar, which meant yeah according to Pike. Bjorn stepped towards the boat and ran his paw along the thick dark wood, the boat beautifully sculpted with a dragon like head in the lead.
“This ship is well built, very strong, I like it's smoothness, should cut through the waves like Val’s dagger.” Bjorn noted to nobody in particular. But Pike swooped around Bjorn’s left side and nodded, feeling the boat for himself. Pike turned his head to playfully wink at Bjorn.
“Speaking of your lovely sister what did she say about coming over to my house for a mead one day?" Pike said, smoothing back his hair. Bjorn rolled his eyes at his best friend's antics. Poor Pike had been infatuated with Valkyrie ever since they had been young. Bjorn had never really understood what he saw in her as she shot down every single offer he made and basically slashed her dagger through his feelings. But still Pike wasn't discouraged and tried again and again. Bjorn was half convinced that his sister had a secret crush on some other male, but she wouldn't say who. Bjorn grabbed his friend's shoulder and shook his head.
“Sorry Pike, but she said what she says every time-” Bjorn paused and cleared his voice, doing his best Valkyrie impression. “You tell that fish-head Pike that I won't ever go out with him, ever. He isn't for me.” Bjorn squeaked in his sister's voice. Pike gave a huff and shook his head, crossing his arms.
“You're awful at voices, you know that Bjorn.” Pike said and snorted a laugh. Bjorn gave a sigh and went back to looking over his ship. It really was a well built ship, as it should be since he was the Lord's son. Bjorn pulled away from the boat to look upwards at the dock, a small rope ladder over the side as rations were being hoisted up by five or six crew mates. Pike started to ascend up the ladder, his mane flowing in the sea breeze. Bjorn was about to follow when he remembered his sack of strange food. He looked around to spot it a couple feet away from the dock and sitting in the grass near the beach. Bjorn quickly jogged over to it, lifting it up over his shoulder as he took a last look out at his village. Bjorn’s mind flashed to his father and sister, who would be expecting big things from him. With a curt determined nod he bid farewell to his village as he climbed up the rope ladder onto the ship's deck. Pike smiled, adjusting his helm to sit neatly atop his head. Bjorn walked forward regarding his crew before him, two tough looking females and three burly males excluding Bjorn but including Pike. Pike made a gesture with his mouth and Bjorn nodded. A speech, of course. Clearing his throat Bjorn started to pace the length of the deck as he kept an eye on his crew.
“Alright, this is my first voyage into the great Northern lands. We shall be brave and tough as all Vikings are born and we will return with many riches and tales. We shall be the talk of the village for months. So we shall go forth at a great speed and not stop till we conquer the Northern lands. Now onward we go.” Bjorn shouted victoriously and his crew banged their weapons on their shields in agreement. Bjorn smiled at his crew as they got to work, undoing the ship from the dock, hosting up the sail, getting to their giant paddles to row. They all turned waiting for their command as Bjorn grabbed a lead paddle. Pike was at the wheel and he steered straight into the ocean blue and yelled.
“Row, we'll be upon the Northern land in three days, yar.” Pike said. Bjorn nodded and rowed with every ounce of his strength his mind forcing him to focus on the journey ahead and not what he was leaving behind. It won't be forever, just a week, Bjorn told himself and tried to forget about it.
***
The clouds in the sky darkened as if Thor had slammed his mighty hammer down in displeasure. Bjorn didn't understand what he was doing wrong to anger the gods. The boat tipped upwards and past a mighty wave, Pike trying to steer straight but the wheel becoming stronger and stronger. Bjorn’s crew was rowing furiously to get out past the oncoming storm but it was coming quick. Bjorn had to prepare for anything as he was checking the sail and making sure they were headed North. Bjorn looked over the said to see the ocean a dark pit, it's deadly water's licking the side of the boat hungrily.
“Not today, you shall not have my boat or my crew.” Bjorn mumbled furiously to himself. He quickly ran to the sail again which had turned to the East steering them off course as Pike battled with the wheel. Bjorn felt a raindrop hit his muzzle and looked up to see the wall of sleet about to hit them. His eyes widened as he grabbed a rope and yanked against the sail, another crew mate trying to help him. The sleet hit them, their fur instantly soaked as they tried to keep the boat steady. Pike gave a scream as the wheel’s strength overthrew him and started to spin madly towards west. Bjorn leaped into action, climbing up the small steps to try to grab the wheel. Pike got up, running his hands which looked burnt from the spinning. Pike turned to the crew trying to shout over the storm as the wind started to pick up.
“Everyone to the center! Don't give the boat unwanted weight on one side. To the center now!” Pike yelled. Bjorn tried to keep the boat on the path, but he didn't know which way was North now. Bjorn cured in his viking tongue and blinked rapidly, the raindrops starting to pelt him hard. The wind was carrying the boat whatever direction it pleased. Bjorn saw a massive wave coming and the boat was turned sideways, Bjorn had to get it straight to cut through or it would surely tip. Bjorn watched as the wave approached closer, the wheel not budging no matter how hard he pulled. Bjorn snarled angrily as he looked up to the sky, the rain blurring his vision. He turned to see the wave approaching and sent a prayer up to the gods above. Pike screamed as the boat tipped upwards, and Bjorn looked in fear, as his friend was thrown off the deck and into the market water.
“PIKE NO!” Bjorn screamed but the wind swallowed his words. Bjorn felt his balance fade as he grabbed the wheel for support but it spun to quickly and Bjorn was thrown off the side and into the water. In the darkness Bjorn didn't know which way to go, everything was upside down, his lungs screamed as he gulped in blistering ocean water. He pumped his powerful arms, his bones chilled at the freezing water. His head surfaced and he greedily gulped in air, the boat slamming down into the water, bits of wood flying up from the crash. A wave from the ship send Bjorn under again and he tried to scream, reach out for something, but not silence. Bjorn suddenly hated silence, every single bit of it. It reminded him of how alone he was in this freezing water, the waves surely to be his grave. He was running out of time as he frantically searched for the murky water's surface. His lungs burned as his throat clenched and he blacked out.
***
A seagull flapped around, descending down to land in a rock. It looked out at the sea, it's beady orange eye spotting pieces of driftwood floating in from the ocean. Aha! The seagull gave a loud caw as it spotted what looked like a giant green blob of food, or at least it smelled like food. The seagull glided down from it's perch to land on the newly washed up clump and pecked at the blob.
“Ouch… my stomach….” The blob groaned in protest. The seagull cawed again, pecking at the same spot. The blob moved and swatted a paw at the seagull, causing it to fly away in search of much less protestant food. Bjorn squinted, his eyes burning and crusty, the sun blinding him, sand making his fur itch. Another moan escaped him as he gingerly touched a large bump near his ribs. Bjorn tried to shade his eyes as he forced himself to sit up and access the situation. The sun was blaring down on him which made him believe it was around midday with how hot it was outside. Bjorn touched his throat, and forehead, luckily he didn't seem to have a fever, which was good. Bjorn felt his rib tenderly and knew it was cracked if not broken. Fear prickled down his spin as he tried to get up, pain jolting through his core as he gently lowered himself again. This wasn’t going to work, was he going to die out here? Bjorn refused to give up and looked around for a possibly way to stand. His mind rushed to his crew and most importantly Pike, where were they? Bjorn didn’t want to think of what might of happened and hoped they had washed ashore like himself. Bjorn spotted a piece of driftwood not to far away and slowly reached for it, his side flaring with stinging jolts. Bjorn bit his bottom lip, holding back a pained grimace as his paw reached the driftwood. He felt the soft, soggy wood under his paw and pulled it close to him, hooking his right arm under it. He lifted himself up, another groan escaping his parched throat. Bjorn looked around, frightened but determined. He would find his crew and Pike and get them back home safely. Bjorn knew that his journey didn’t begin when they set sail, it began right here.

    Dear Diary,

It’s funny, honestly. My name means four seasons, and that seems to follow me everywhere. One day it would be a beautiful spring day; the sun sending gentle rays of heat throughout the area while every place around it would be in their normal season for the year, in this case, winter. The next day, though, it would be a blazing summer, with everyone indoors to try to hide from the heat. Okay, so maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but my point still stands.

It’s always changing when I’m around; always different. Most people seem to like it, talking about how exciting it is to be in such a “creative” place. To me, if people are happy with me and my Shiki around, then I’m just as happy.

Today, as of writing this entry, it is a cool autumn day; the leaves on the trees gently falling onto the breeze and flying away. I can hear this kids playing in the leaf piles outside, along with the jingling of the jackets their parents forced them to put on. This is my favorite season. It’s not too hot, not too cool, and some days, people dress up in special costumes. Some of them dress up as me, hoping they’ll get the power to control the seasons; the breeze flying through the trees and making them sway as though they are trying to wave at the people below and hoping they get a wave in return. My powers are far from being able to control the seasons though. In fact, it is mostly random. I have the most miniscule ability to control them. I can only hope to be able to do that in the future.

There is one, tiny upside to these powers, though. Some see me as a god. Although I enjoy the title, I’m not one for permanent pampering. I try to tell them, but they ignore me and continue. Some days I hope that there is a storm, [I]weather
it would be a thunderstorm, a blizzard, or a hurricane, just something to keep them away for a while. Hahahh You see what I did there?

No you didn’t… You’re just a diary.. Sometimes I really hate that fact…

Either way, I can hear a couple people banging at my front door, trying to get me out for whatever pampering they have on the list for today. I guess I’d better go.

    Sincerely,
    Me.

I looked up from the page I had mostly filled with a huff. I didn’t want to do this today. As much as I appreciate what they are trying to do, I just don’t really find myself liking it all too much. Even still, I had to at least answer their call and try to tell them again. I pulled on my fall satchel, which was filled to the near brim with books and was decorated with dried leaves I had been able to salvage over the years, and walked towards the door.

Before I pulled it open, I made sure the small chain keeping it from being fully opened was set in place. Once I made sure that it was, I cracked the door open. Outside were multiple hair groomers, all wanting to try to give me a new look. I quietly huffed at them. So that’s what they had planned for today.

“Hey, uh, I’m not feeling very well today..” I turned and faked a cough, hoping it would be enough to fool them. It seemed to work, for a few of them had backed away from the door. “Can we do this some other time..?” One of the girls nodded a bit and shooed the others away before following in toe with the others. Once I was sure they were gone, I opened my door fully and stepped out, locking my door and heading out into town.

Now I could see all of the children playing in the leaf piles. One child came up to me, hoping I could help him make a pile for his friends. When I saw how excited he was when he asked, I started gathering up some of the leaves that had fallen in the playground nearby and set them into a pile, with the child helping with a gleeful grin. Once we had a pile about the size of the child, he thanked me and ran off, presumably to go find his friends. I could feel a smile working its way onto my face before I went to my usual reading tree.

Today, I started reading a book about people trying to become apprentices to some people who were in charge of the power of the twelve Chinese dragon. Each person was in charge of one dragon, but the “dragon dragon” or “mirror dragon” had gone missing. The protagonist, a female trying to pose as a male, was trying to become the apprentice for the rat dragon master. The only issue was that the girl had a malformed hip, which made her legs hurt terribly if she moved wrong. Within five minutes, I had become completely enveloped in the story; I felt as though I was there, watching as the girl twisted in a sort of dance while trying to fight her instructor. I didn’t even notice my “worshippers” approach and try to fake me to the salon.

When I did, a frown appeared on my face. “Listen, I do appreciate what you are doing for me, but I can’t keep doing this..” A couple of them frowned and turned to leave. A hid my smile and turned to the last few. “Please just let me be for a while, and no, I don’t mean come back in a few hours.” The others looked away in disappointment and left. Once they did, I continued to read my book.

A couple of kids tapped my shoulder later on, pointing to the sky and saying it was night time. I hadn’t even noticed until they had gathered my attention. I thanked them with a small smile and put a bookmark in my book and set it back into my satchel before heading back home. As soon as I was in the house, I moved towards my bed, ready to pass out. But before I did, I opened the window next to the bed and looked at the stars.

“Please let tomorrow be a nice day. I wish not to put them in any trouble..”

A small star shot across the sky, as if to say they had acknowledged my wish. I let a small smile make it’s way onto my face as I took off my bag and set it on a small table next to my bed. Once it was off I curled up on the bed and drifted to sleep.

    Dear Diary,

It’s been a little over a week since my last entry. I feel like today is a good day to make one, though. Today is a holiday the humans call “Christmas” and, while I do not know much of the history behind it, I have noticed that they like to spend the day at home. Whenever I pass by their homes, I can hear ripping paper and the happiest cheers I have ever heard in my life. When they came outside, the children were happy when they saw the land covered in a this sheet of snow. I love that I had managed to make them happy.

Today’s diary may have been a short entry, but I though that it would be good to write it down.

    Sincerely,
    Me.

Once I finished writing, I set my pen down and moved into my winter closet. I pulled out a light blue coat with white “faux fur” on the inside and on the collars. I zipped it up and headed outside. Today, I had to go to the church building for those “worshippers” I have. I moved quickly through the town, not being outside for long because I can’t wear anything on my paws.

When I arrived at the church, I was genuinely shocked when I found it to be empty aside from one man in a white robe. I approached in cautiously before speaking. “Where is everyone? I thought it was a church day..”

The man turned around took a look at me, his eyes shocked, as though he had never seen me before. And, now that I think about it, I don’t recognize the man, either. His skin was wrinkled and slightly sagging, implying that he was an older man. Despite their shock, his eyes were almost dull and void of any pigmentation. It almost made me worried; what had this man been through to make him so.. sad? My thoughts were cut off when he relaxed and begun to speak.

“Today is a special holiday for us. A lot of people are spending time with their family. They may not arrive at all.” A small amount of shock washed over me before I simply nodded.

“I see. Thank you.” The man nodded and returned to his business. Although it wouldn’t be much fun there, I made my way back home, and back to my diary. Once I was in the house, I took off and put away my coat before sitting at my desk again. When I couldn’t think of anything to write, I decided to read over some of my past entries.

    Dear Diary,

Today is a rather odd one for me. Once again, the children had started dressing up as strange monsters, some of which they gave titles; witch, ghost, angel, devil, frankenstien’s monster, fallen angel, Freddy (whoever [i]that
is), zombies, and multiple different types of animals. They all started going door to door, requesting candy and scaring a few people along the way. Some of the people decided to set up props and join in on the dress up. It’s quite strange to me.

I still have a lot of questions about some of the other holidays they celebrate around here, but this one was the most confusing one to me; why would anyone, much less a child, wish to dress up as a monster just to go around and request candy when they can go to a store and buy some? I’ll have to ask someone if they decide to get some sweets from me. I have a bowl set up next to me in case some came here-

The small cup of of ink I had set up spilled all over my diary, painting the page in the dark liquid. I tried to clean it up, but to no avail. Disappointment set in like a rock, quickly leaving me without anything to do. I could continue reading my books, but that’s something I do on fall days. Winter days were for church, if it’s on that day, and reading old diary entries and watching the fire. I had run out of firewood a few days ago, and I just ruined my diary with this ink. I decided to just take a nap so that, tomorrow, I could go get a new diary and more ink.

Usually I would wish on a star, but it was still the middle of the day, so the only star in the sky now would be the sun. I just huffed in slight annoyance and laid down on my bed, quickly dozing off.

My sleep was dreamless and dark, but I didn’t really notice until I had awoken. I peeked out the window, seeing a bright summer day. I wished that no one had gotten sick before moving off my bed. I grabbed my sunglasses and my grocery bag and headed out towards the door. I was immediately greeted by a warm breeze upon opening my door. I almost brought a smile to my face when I saw the kids playing in the pool and the adults in small clusters around and in the pool.

I made my way past all of the pools and parks and to a main road separating the country that I lived in and the town with all of the shops and restaurants. Although these two parts of the city were majorly different, they both still had the same weather conditions; always random.

I walked into a small dollar store, grabbing the wallet with whatever currency the humans used, and began searching for all of the notebooks. I had a simple diary; a small book with a leather cover. I had sewn my name in the front and had a special lock with mine. I took the one that was closest to what I had, grabbed for pen ink, paid, and left. I made my way home and sat at my desk again, a smile forming on my face as I dipped my pen in the ink and opened the book. I sucked in a breath and grinned fully once I started to write again.

    “Dear Diary…”
