Favorite meal and why?: Amity lives in a small community with other viscets. It lies on the edge of a bustling city, but little of the city's wealth trickles down to them. Most around her live in abandoned buildings or rough shelters made from crates and wooden pallets. There's never enough to go around, and when the weather is rough they can do nothing more than sit it out. The very young, old, and weak don't survive here for long. Yet there's a beauty here that those above will never know. The community has come together to form a family, and when one of them comes upon wealth, they all share in it. They have little, but they celebrate often and rejoice in life. They depend on one another.
This is why Amity loves to cook stew. It's simple and she can use whatever food happens to be lying around, and there's always enough for her to share. When the others smell her cooking, they gather around and each contributes what they can; a pinch of salt here and a half-rotten vegetable there. Maybe someone manages to find basil growing wild near their home, and someone else has a few pieces of bread that are beginning to get stale. It all goes in the pot, and later when their bellies are nearly full, they'll sing and dance and regale each other of stories from when they lived in other places, seemingly a lifetime ago. For a little while they can forget the hardships of their lives and be happy and sated.
