Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.

Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

why are their eyes closed? working almost every day and every night, she needed to find
something to help her relax. and that, was the sea. it was perfect. the smooth sounds of the wave
crashing on the rocks and the somehow gentle but rough sounds of the wind, it was like little white noises
that always lulled her to sleep. after discovering this secret paradise of hers, it became a habit to race
to the beach every little time she had the chance to, until she did it every single day of the year. in fact,
marina became so addicted, she thought she could almost navigate herself all the way around the beach
with her eyes closed. and that had gotten her thinking. maybe she could do that?

and so, marina had thought up a little, fun, experimental idea. and it was to try to navigate herself around,
with her eyes closed once she set foot on the sandy ground. not so surprisingly, she managed well. marina
had remembered where every boulder was, where the best place to find seashells were, the seaweed pit,
the crab's holes and caves, and much more. all while doing it with her eyes closed.

she was so fascinated and pleased with herself, she began to do it more often, and had gradually found
out by closing her eyes while walking around the beach, her stress level absolutely plummeted. she was
never seen complaining or grumbling about her job again.

why are their eyes closed? they're listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the rough rocky shoreline.














" cold, damp, i can feel it splash on me. the little drops hitting my face, i close my eyes to concentrate on one thing, but my mind goes everywhere. why can i not focus on the sound.
my anxiety whispering in my ear, as if it's taunting me, telling me to worry about the unthinkable, the unimaginable.
i let myself cry, my stressful tears mixing with the salt water of the ocean as i sit on the rocky shore. my rocky shore, all to myself.
'mister ocean,' i begin to say, 'why am i so scared of life?'
i imagine the sound of the waves crashing against the rocky shore to be it's response, but i know i'm talking to myself.
'mister ocean, am i crazy?'
the sound of the waves stop, i open my teary eyes and all i see is white.
'you are loved, please do not think of yourself as crazy or scared.'
the white fades and i blink, when i open my eyes the ocean is back.
'thank you, mister ocean.' i say while getting up and walking away. "

When she woke up she couldn't see, she couldn't open her eyes either. She got worried she just decided to navigate around by buying a dog. She named her Sheri, she helped her get around.
