What do they do at night? Just like with all Kalons, no two fireflies have been, or ever will be, the same. This was a lesson Avalon learned night after night, hour after hour, time loop after time loop. It had been a fairly normal friend date with Bailey - whom she did not always trust - and Bailey had persuaded her to go time traveling with him. While she had declined this offer several thousand times, this time was just a little different. Perhaps Avalon was a bit sleepy, or perhaps her one glass of wine before dinner was just a little too much, but she finally agreed on just
one trip. One, simple, time travelling trip. Bailey promised they could go wherever Avalon wanted, and it didn't take long for her to choose! She settled on an area from her childhood - a time with few responsibilities, a night full of stars and fireflies. After the stresses of adulthood had gotten to her, Avalon felt that revisiting the simple memory of a night filled with blinking lights would help ease her heavy burden.
Once there, the two stepped out, spending a few hours with the stars and bugs before deciding it was time to leave. They tried, but Bailey found that perhaps the reason his friend didn't want to go with him travelling was because there was always a slim chance that non-timetravellers would get stuck in the time loop they had visited. A very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. After trying several more times, Bailey explained what had happened, and with a shrug, left.
The first few nights - or, how did one measure time in a time loop? - had been hard for Avalon, of course, but soon she had adjusted to the odd schedules and the constant environment. She explored the borders of her time loop, and soon began to almost like it. She didn't have responsibilities, after all, and every hour brought a feeling of a lighter heart. Instead of mourning her situation, although it would have been wholly appropriate, Avalon took the time to make the best of it. She began, once more, doing what she had once enjoyed doing most as a kit. Avalon began catching fireflies again. Every night, despite it being a time loop, seemed to bring brand new lightening bug friends and a newfound joy for romping after them and their soft blinking. Every night, despite it being a time loop, Avalon soon learned that she could still find joy in the little things.
