AISP #50 - Custom Competition

Postby OutdatedBoombox » Mon Feb 06, 2017 7:10 am

Aah, #50 and me trying to bring these pretties back to life. The competition itself is actually pretty simple, help me elaborate on the seal genetics I have come up with, (Ex. the base coat colors they modify, how they're changed by dilutions/other patterns, possible health issues that could come with them, etc.). You will get a full custom of just about whatever you want, so long as it's a naturally occurring horse coat/pattern/mutation, go for it. (No edits, please.)
Vos's Original notes wrote:Hooded seal color gene
HoHo (Ee/Atat base modifier; only expresses on seal bay)

Bearded seal color gene
Bdbd (only expressed on black horses- sometimes mistaken for grey, genetic testing is needed)

Grey seal color gene

Ribbon seal color gene
Riri

Leopard seal color gene
Lele (expresses on black)

Weddell seal color gene
Wdwd

Crabeater seal color gene

Describe your custom: a red roan with surpise white markings
Seal genetic ideas: a hooded seal something like that maybe mixed with a leopard seal. Maybe.one based off baby seals like the white. Also just that grey/brown like regular seals that would be interesting. Then just speckles like some have ( some have speckles on their whole body and some just on their bellies )

Describe your custom: Rose Gray with an Irregular blaze, 3 white leg markings (I don't mind which or in what combination).
Seal genetic ideas:

Harp Seal - Foals are born white with black points and get to be a dark blotchy gray with black spots as they age.

Monk seal - Horses exhibit a light under belly and dark dorsal stripe. The colour should fade from the dark to a white with the dorsal stripe still being distinguished. The legs are the same colour as main body.

Ringed Seal - Mares exhibit a red base coat with white "ribbon" markings and stallions exhibit a black base coat with white "ribbon" markings.

Weddel Seal - Grey with white Dapples or blotches with brown points. Often mistaken for Dapple gray.

Gender: Stallion
Age: 5 years
Describe your custom: Faulty Mulberry Grey on Amber Cream Champagne Blanket Appaloosa
A Amber Cream Champagne base with a partially Mulberry greyed body and a Blanket Appaloosa pattern.

Seal genetic ideas:
Hooded Seal gene [HoHo]
- Only expresses on Seal Bay
- Will give the horse a Merle like pattern with black ends
- can be mistaken for Appaloosa

Bearded Seal gene [Bdbd]
- only expressed on Black
- Will give the horse a "Grey" look with a red-brownish face and neck.
- often mistaken for Grey

Grey Seal gene [Gsgs]
- Mistaken for Appaloosa
- Dilutes the lower part (mostly belly and lower neck) of the horse
- will cause spotting on the body mostly present on the belly

Ribbon Seal gene [Riri]
- only expressed on black based E*
- causes big collar like rings around the head/neck, legs and tail

Leopard Seal gene [Lele]
- Only expresses on Black
- Causes the lower body to be white (like the Splash marking)
- will cause small spots on the lower body

Weddell Seal gene [Wdwd]
- Colour will often fade duller as they age
- Will cause white eliptic spotting on the body (mottled)

Crabeater Seal gene [Cbcb]
- Causes the coat to slowly fade/dilute head down
- They get whiter/blonder with age
- often mistaken for Grey
- can have dapple like markings on the rump

Elephant Seal gene [Elel]
- sometimes mistaken for Dun
- will cause the upper body to be a darker colour (faded)
- if they are homozygous they will have a larger dark area

Monk Seal gene [Momo]
- sometimes mistaken for dun or Elephant Seal
- Causes a darker topline
- mostly seen in lighter coats

Ross Seal gene [Roro]
- sometimes mistaken for Frey or Sooty Grulla
- will cause a "beard" like pattern on the chin/cheek and can extend to the chest
- often have pale bellies with dark dorsal features

Harp Seal gene [Hphp]
- Will cause the entire body to dilute
- Will cause big darker patches with small spots (the patches and spots are the base coat colour)
- homozygous will cause a "piebald" pattern. This means that the patches and spots become one giant spot (base coat colour).
Homozygous Harp

Spotted Seal gene [Spsp]
- dilutes the entire body
- will cause a dark dorsal
- will cause heavy spotting
- often mistaken for a Leopard Appaloosa or a Fleabitten Grey

Ringed Seal gene [Rgrg]
- only expresses on Black
- will cause ringed (fungy like) shapes in a lighter colour and lightens the lower body aswell
- Most of the times will not cross the back
- depending on the pattern, they can be mistaken for grey or manchado
- homozygous can be lethal
