Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

The babe was adopted from us before, but, sadly, they were brought back. The young person who adopted them wasn't comfortable with how this pup would stare at things that they couldn't see. We were perplexed by this, as we never observed this behavior when the dog was with us. We took them in anyways, as that is what we do. Over the next few days we did, however, see this odd behavior. The pup will often stare at something that the rest of us can't see with unnerving intensity. We don't really know why. It's a bit eerie, but, if you're willing to overlook this, this pup will make a great companion.

For this competition tell me why the darling stares at things others can't see. I'm open to prettying up and extras.

Why Do They Stare into Space?: October always thinks her mother is watching her and is trying to talk to her. Even if she's dead October knows she isn't really 'gone'. Only when she forgets about her. She also laughs at his moms jokes making her look a bit creepy to other dogs and it confuses people.

Why Do They Stare into Space?:
Before Mercy was put in the shelter, she lived with a very loving family. She was bought because the children had always wanted a dog, but the morher's fear prevented them from getting one for a long time. Finally the mother gave in and let the kids get a dog. That's when Mercy came into the picture. Mercy loved everyone in the family, but had an irrational need to be near the mother despite her not wanting to be anywhere near the dog. Time passed and the mother learned to be comfortable around Mercy, and before she knew it she actually grew to love her. Sadly, most stories don't have a happily ever after, and the mother died. At which point some years later Mercy found herself in the shelter. The family couldn't look at her without thinking of the mother, and while it was sad to see Mercy go, it was symbolic for them letting go and not letting the death of their wife or mother completely haunt their lives. Having said that, Mercy stares off into space because she can see her, she never really left. She goes wherever Mercy goes, and you can bet your last buck that she was yelling at her family from the grave when they put Mercy in the shelter. So now she follows Mercy around as if she were still alive, and only Mercy can see her.

Why Do They Stare into Space?: He thinks he sees this shadow person that has a cowboy hat and he's deathly afraid that it'll kill his owner sooo he'll stare at it tell it goes away and one day he thinks (Well actually everyday) if he stares long enough, it burst into a oblivion, so it'll finally leave him alone so he can sleep easy and so he knows that his owner is safe!
