Name;
Mercede

Gender;

Female

Hobby:

Writing down things they've learned that summer

Why;
Mercede is convinced she learns more things in the few months of summer than the whole school year. She is determined to prove this to her teacher, so each year she writes down everything she has learned that was not taught in school. Each year the list gets longer, but her teacher is determined to prove her other wise by making his own list of things taught at school. Both get longer each year, and Mercede is yet to win. This year however, she calculated how much the increase would be and figured out to 100 percent beat her teacher she needs to write down 10 things a day. Her teacher also has a habit of making sure she actually learned them, not just wrote them down. She needed to learn 10 things each day that summer. You might think that would be impossible, but not for her! She made sure the things were fun and would benefit her in the future! She learned how to make a friendship bracelet, she learned how to properly make a s'more, she learned the scientific name for poison oak (Which also became her favorite word(s) because Toxicodendron Diversilobum is so fun to say!). This has become a passion and a hobby for Mercede, and as well as for the competition she will do it for fun! She enjoys meeting new people and they often help her out, since they all specialize in different things. Mercede's favorite season is summer because she always enjoys a good challenge, and this one is fun as well! This year, she might actually beat her teacher!

Name: Thalia
Gender: Female
Hobby: Gardening! Her interest in gardening began at a young age, when her grandmother brought her down to her garden and let her help out. At first she found the work tedious, but after seeing the way her grandmothers eyes lit up as she explained what each of the plants were, their meanings and uses in everyday life, she was hooked. From that day on, she visited her grandmother as often as she could to help her out with the garden. Even after her grandmother had grown old and passed, Thalia continued to visit her garden and tend to it. The only problem however, was that Thalia never really had the special touch that her grandmother did, and so it wasn't long before the plants had withered away and died. For a long while Thalia considered giving up gardening, however a small voice in the back of her mind reminded her that her grandmother would be more upset with her if she quit gardening than she would be over her ruined garden. Despite her failure, Thalia continued to work with plants to try and improve her skills. Its been years since her grandmother passed and Thalia's love for plants has only grown, however since that time she hasn't improved a single bit. She still very much enjoys gardening and wouldn't give it up for the world, but she still kills nearly every plant she comes into contact with. Her grandmother used to joke and say that she was so bad at gardening that she could kill a cactus, and so far in her life, she's killed four.

name: ivy
( a vine like plant that can grow quite tall. flowering ivies usually have green or yellow flowers. grows in a multitude of locations and is quite a versatile species of flora. )

Image

gender: female
hobby: avidly collects and documents bugs and plants in her journals. they are extremely detailed and ivy is immensely proud of her work.

Image

ivy has always had a fascination with flora and fauna. her parents shared a similar passion, hence her name. the viscet would spend hours frolicking through nature and reveling in the sights. on one of these expeditions, the female noticed a strange insect bumbling around on a plant she had never seen. practically yelping in excitement, ivy opened her textbook and scrolled through the pages; searching for a match to the mysterious pair. upon reaching the last page, there was still no sign or explanation as to what the bug or plant were. ivy sighed in defeat before having a lightbulb moment. she grabbed an empty water bottle she carries in her small backpack and quickly captured the creature inside it. after this, she snapped an image of the plant using a disposable camera she had discovered on her travels and then rushed home to do research.

after many hours of reading and asking around, the viscet, heart full of frustration, sketched the two new discoveries on an empty page of her notebook and scribbled a few name ideas down for each. on a spur of the moment kind of thing, she decided to mail this page and a few developed photos to a biologist in the area and things took off from there. the new insect and plant were named accordingly and ivy's self esteem skyrocketed. from that day, she was allowed to help with discovering new things in the forests and parks in her neighborhood and she was allowed to travel occasionally to explore further off places. the viscet couldn't be happier and uses all of her spare time to fill her various journals with new and exciting discoveries.

many times on these journeys, ivy finds discarded bottles and cans. she picks up any trash whom crosses her path because the viscet understands the importance of living a green lifestyle (and the fact that junk could really help her by serving as a prison cell for any insects she may come across.)
