*How they met* Tseten was extremely anxious as a child. Monks are renowned for their control of body and mind, but Tseten had none. He was always fidgeting during meditations, and his movements were nervous and hesitant during training. He was so tightly wound, and no one knew why, not even himself. The head monks tried to reason with him, but their stern lectures only made things worse.
One night, while he was rolling around in bed struggling to fall asleep, he heard a croak outside. Nothing unusual; the Air temple was in the middle of the wilderness after all, and there were all kinds of creatures out at night. But only a few minutes later, he heard the croak again. And again.
Slowly, he began to count the seconds in-between croaks. Each croak was exactly two minutes apart, and something was so calming about that predictability. He opened his window so he could hear better, and laid back down. He counted over and over again, becoming more pleased every time the croak occurred in perfect, orderly time. Quite soon he fell into a restful sleep.
In the morning, he was surprised to see the Badgerfrog in his room. It had gotten in through the open window, and was slumbering peacefully on the monk's chest. Tseten named her Jamyang, and they have been inseparable ever since. The consistency and predictability of Jamyang's quiet croaks puts Tseten at ease, and through her help he has finally found balance.
