There is no limit on words or amount of art, but please keep them equal and please keep this in mind: quality over quantity. I am more likely to pick a single hand-drawn piece of art over five color-ins. The same goes with the writing, I am far more likely to choose a small, well-written paragraph over a poorly-written wall of text.

Solace is a quirky little tolter, that he is. He's stubborn, so stubborn he refuses to let anyone slather him with sunscreen, yet so sensitive at the same time - he'll get burned and hate it, come crawling to someone for comfort, and he still won't let anyone put sunscreen on him. That's the main problem we have with him, although he seems to be on the autistic spectrum as well. He's very emotionally sensitive, and he takes things harshly.

The stubborn part of him is the least like-able. He will refuse to do pretty much anything, letting out these repetitive grunting noises we've come to interpret as his way of saying 'no'. He'll swing his head back and forth, his sunglasses somehow staying on his face, his security bandanna making loops around his neck. Then Solace will just plop down and grunt, grunt, grunt. He pays no attention to anything you say or do, and he'll just sit on his butt with his legs sprawled out and thrust his head in the air, grunt, grunt, grunt. Until you offer him his favorite treat - mango. Then he'll perk up and make these little nickers, want you to pet him and right his bandanna and let him snuggle into your chest, seeming to say sorry for having a stubborn fit.

No one knows why Solace likes mango so much. None of our other horses seem to like it, although some like pears and peanut butter toast and ants on a log, but Solace refuses all of these things. He just wants his expensive timothy hay and mango. He'll eat it out of a container, out of someone's palm, on a skewer, in strips. He doesn't mind what it looks like, so long as it tastes like mango. That's also how we get him to take medicine - flavor it with mango juice. He doesn't know the difference. He's also very picky with everything he eats. He hates corn. Whether it be corn on the cob or corn mash or even popcorn - he wants nothing to do with it. We learned that the hard way when he had a stubborn fit after giving him corn mash for the first time. Someone offered him popcorn one time and he sat on his butt and grunted for half an hour before someone offered him a slice of mango.

But Solace also has a sensitive side. He's a cuddle monster when he's in his more sensitive state of mind, wanting hugs and kisses and pets and treats and love. He always has a craving for love, but it's just so much stronger when he's feeling calm and cooperative. He got his sunglasses this way, by being all lovey and cute. Some little kid gave him a pair of sunglasses because he was adorable, but he quickly outgrew them. We had to go out and buy him a pair. Not only because he liked them for some odd reason, but because his eyes are so sensitive. He already gets sunburned so easily, so we didn't want his eyes going bad because of the sun. Plus he looks absolutely adorable when he's wearing them and his curly little forelock hangs over the rims.

You might be wondering why Solace has a bandanna around his neck. It's a form of comfort for him, a thing that won't change except for when we have to wash it. He chews on it and nuzzles it and spins it around his neck. White probably wasn't the best idea, because he gets green hay slobber and orange mango juice all over it, but he's grown so attached to it that we couldn't possibly take it away now. The only time we do take it away is about twice a month when we have to wash it out super quickly because it's turned splotchy and gross. But luckily stains wash out of it easily because it's some miraculously stain repellent material that whisks away slobber like magic. But it's kind of funny to see Solace walking around with his swaggy sunglasses on, chewing on his bandanna. It's such a big difference of age. He acts like a child, but his sunglasses make him seem like an older tolter.

Solace can act like a baby sometimes, yes. His emotional and sensory capacity is low, and when he gets overwhelmed, he plops down and brays pitifully like a crying child until someone sits by him and comforts him and lets him snuggle with them and eat mangoes. He isn't allowed to be ridden in lessons or shown, even in halter shows, because of this. He's allowed to be ridden bareback for about ten minutes by an advanced rider or an owner of the stables, and he likes walking around the pastures, watching birds and other tolters. But he reaches his capacity at about ten minutes of this, and so it's a good idea to slide off him and lead him back to the barn when he starts to get jittery and toss his head.

One thing Solace really enjoys is lake swimming. He could swim forever in the lake on the stables' property, ducking under and splashing his human swimming partner and squealing in happiness. Eventually he has to get out, though, and he's toweled dry and given back his bandanna and sunglasses. We started keeping a barbecue grill out at the little cabin near the lake to grill mangoes on for Solace, because he loves eating his favorite treat, warmed up, after going out for a swim. He enjoys eating his grilled mango off a paper plate as he slurps up a mango smoothie out of his own special bowl because he is hopelessly addicted to mangoes. And swimming. He would go to a swimming pool if he could, and we've contemplated building one on the property, before deciding it was too expensive. Solace can't swim during the winter months because the lake will freeze up and he'd get hypothermia quickly, but he has plenty of snuggles and mangoes and fuzzy things to keep him entertained and happy during the cold, frosty winter.

Solace also enjoys fuzzy things. He likes knit ear nets and ear muffs and fluffy blankets and sheep's wool leg wraps to keep him cozy during the winter. He looks like some giant fluff ball monster when he's all geared up, but he doesn't mind. He really likes the feeling of fluff, apparently. And his coat doesn't retain heat very well, so whenever he wants to go to pasture we have to wrap and bundle him up so he can go outside in the snow. He doesn't much like snow or hail, though, so we try to keep him inside during the winter months to keep him from a sensory overload and a complete meltdown.

He has sensory issues, too, the poor little guy. He hates when things rub up against him, or there's a loud or repetitive noise, or a strong smell. He also has problems with brightly colored things. You can test if he likes something by just putting it in front of him. If he jerks back and grunts at you, he won't let you feed it to him or put it on him. If he sniffs it, he's usually fine. You can't ride him with a saddle or bridle because he doesn't like them, he won't let you feed him anything that's yellow, and he hates all music and most perfumes. Solace has his own little part of the barn because of these issues, and we put only tolters he's friendly with next to him. He hates strangers, but loves his friends. And he refuses to wear regular iron shoes, as well, so we're currently stuck putting five karat gold shoes on his sensitive feet. We tried everything before we tried gold - rubber, copper, silver, even aluminum. He didn't like any of those options, so we were forced to try gold. It worked. And it's expensive.

Solace is a good tolter, yes, but he does have his strange quirks and odd sensory issues. But how could you not love this cute little guy? He acts like a child sometimes, yes, chewing on his bandanna and being stubborn and dancing in the rain, but then he puts on his sunglasses and he can act like a normal tolter for a few minutes. He's an angel, really, with a few minor little problems. But what tolter doesn't have problems, honestly?

Personality:
Kleppr is a very stubborn tolter and doesn't like it when he doesn't get is way. He will stop and plant his butt where ever he is and refuse to move an inch. He can also be a bit bone headed at times as well and doesn't always think through things before he does something. As this strange and at times silly tolter has told others many times"I'm a doer, not a thinker" and that is right on spot for him. And because of that some tolters take advantage of that, ahem...Fanta...Gator! They will randomly convince Kleppr to do things that to him seem random, but they aren't really that. Such as Gator would have him find a bucket for him, Kleppr will think nothing of it and find him that but he has no idea that it will most likely be used in a little prank for Gator. Kleppr is a horse that has no enemy and is all friends, there's just something about him that makes you never want to harm that cute little gaze he gives you or that little lip thing he does when he doesn't get his way and he is about to throw a fit. When ever Kleppr is trying to act funny, he always sticks his tongue out and its the funniest thing ever to see. He also loves sticking his tongue out at his trainers to make them laugh. Though, when it comes to Show Jumping, he is a champ. He loves show jumping and loves the hard work out session that he has most days of the week in the indoor arena since the sun burns him easily and he doesn't like the sunscreen. He loves the feeling of soaring above the earth. He loves it when he goes flying high above the fences feeling like he can accomplish anything in the world. And one thing that he loves doing the most ,well besides show jumping, is going on the camping trips that the riders sometimes plan. He loves exploring and he loves it when they have a campfire at night and he can just fall asleep watching those amazing and beautiful flames dance in the fire pit. He always wants to touch the fire, but he has learned, no touching the fire, it will burn you!
Why They Don't Wear Sunscreen:
Kleppr doesn't like to where sunscreen because of the smell and it also causes him to get slight rashes in certain areas on his body. But it is manly because he just hates the smell of it. Anyways, he thinks he looks cool with those funky tan lines that he can accomplish by putting various things on himself. The only thing he doesn't like about a sunburn is the pain that comes with it, he may be more tolerant to pain than most, but he does not like sunburns.

A small sandal. Kleppr carries it everywhere with him. One day he found it while doing a bit of exploring and ever since hes just carried it around with him and it has become quite the habit. He loves doing things different and keeping that sandal with him is just one of the ways to be different.
