#2334 brown

Postby cowgirlchrista » Mon May 11, 2015 9:40 am

recently, bear run had a few rescue tolters come in. most were scarred, abused, or disabled in some way. as centre didn't have the room to keep many rescues at the time, they decided to adopt them out to owners who seemed fitting.

this sweet mare has never been the necessarily most "flashy" in the herd by far, but the most gentlest and sweetest by a longshot. she came into the rescue without any eyes, having to had them removed by the vet for some currently unknown reason and was skinny and scarred, having been a measly 528 lbs. compared to the healthy 900 to 1100 lb bear run tolters most people saw walking around town and at shows.
for this one, tell me a story of how she got her scars and became eyeless.
go all out! you can pretty up your forms with anything: personality, art, and any other extras you'd like to add!
this girl will also have a cow bell attached to her halter.

barn name; Morana, slovic for death

story;
It was a normal night .Her herd leader needed to decide his succesor, so he held a meeting tonight. As he rambled on about his decision, she noticed a strange stallion thrashing around in the meadow across from them. She slinked off, curious to see what the other new comer was doing.

"Hello?" she called, edging closer to her downfall. He turned, mouth foaming, with a wild look in his eyes. He charged at her, rearing him and striking her face with his two front hooves. Morana let out a cry, her vision blurring as she attempted to scurry away from him.

The pursuit began, the stallion was intent on destroying his target. He nipped her back right ankle, causing her to immediately slow down. He could hear her scream the other's names, in hope someone would rescue her. He chased her through the meadow, hoping to cut her off at the high fences separating them from the drop of the hills below.

At this point Morana's vision had gone black. She was running blindly, it was clear they were to far for anyone to here. She felt legs buckle as she hit something, flying forward and rolling down the hill into the thorny bushes below. Her fur matted with her own blood mixed with the mud from the day before. She tried to get up, to run even farther, but she collapsed again with a cry of pain.

She heard the screams, the fighting, then everything stopped.

When she woke up she wasn't home anymore. She didn't know where, but it smelled different. She tried to open her eyes, but she couldn't. She began to panic, to buck and rear until she heard a calming voice.

"It's alright girl, shhh. We're hear to protect you, alright?" the doctor gently brushed her, careful to avoid her still tender wounds. "You're here at the Bear Run Hospital, and you're not going back to your hold home. You we're attacked, do you remember baby?" she cooed. "We had to put you under surgery. You're blind now, but we're here to help you cope with that, okay?"

The next few months, Morana fell into a depression. She didn't eat or sleep, and she was never adopted. Who wanted a skinny, blind horse?

That was until she met Madison. A girl who had her own stabes, Safe Haven, for any and all. She had finally found a place she belonged.

barn name; Heartfelt
gender; mare
halter color; Pinkish Red
story;
Heartfelt lifted her ragged head, her ears pricked to the east. The whites of her blue eyes showed as she backed up, only to snap a hock against the splintered fenceboard behind her. Wheeling, she sniffed the air with growing concern, her ears flattening against her head. The wind was picking up; she was in no position to face a storm in her emanciated state. As blood streamed down her hock, which had faced constant abuse from being slammed into the fence, the clouds rumbled ominously, hunting down the small, unkempt farm. Heartfelt hadn't been fed for weeks - she hadn't the strength to run. Even so she was panicking, her great heart thumping like a rabbit's as flashes of energy lit up the sky.
The wind was stronger now, whipping her mane. Heartfelt jigged anxiously, hoping that her owner would come to save her. Even with all she'd faced, her owner sometimes fed her and groomed her and she trusted her. It was all she'd ever known; how was she ever supposed to know that horses were supposed to be sleek and happy and energetic? A tree branch snapped, causing the frightened brown to bolt into the fence again, scraping her flank. It hurt, but that had stopped mattering; the task at hand was to find shelter, fast. She felt her feet sinking into the clay and her coat streaming water, unable to scrape away the mud that had been caked there for so long.
Image
Wham! A whistle, a deafening screech, and a booming crack drowned out everything else. Hearfelt took off, her silent terror all but betrayed by her wild eyes and racing heartbeat. Dropping her head, she put in her final effort; battering down the fence! AS her head slammed in, the last thing she saw was the wet grass and a bluish blur from the rain.
Screaming out in pain, Heartfelt thrashed in a hopeless attempt to escape the wooden shards and barbed wire driving into her face. She couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't feel anything but blinding, full, red pain. The fence lay in shreds on her neck, driven into her delicate skin by the driving rain, the wind howling in her ears. Struggling to stand, her hooves scattered hopeless patterns in the mud, the barbed wire just attached enough to the remaining fence to hold her down. Breathlessly, she continued to fight until there was nothing left in her. Blood streamed from the wounds, her whole body shuddered; she was dying and she knew it. With a heavy sigh punctuated with a low, painful moan, she lay her head down miserably. Without so much as a last thought, the thin frame went limp.
Heartfelt awoke to fresh torture. Wishing she would have died, she uncontrollably flinched from the massive pain. Pinning her ears in fear, she listened to the sound of a truck driving up, a trailer rattling close behind. She uselessly attempted to look around, though even moving her head was enough to make her snort from her injuries. A boot crunched on the dirt behind her.
Something told the mare that everything might be okay after all.

Angel never believed a thing like this could ever happen to her, she had heard of the horror stories from the other horses at the stables that when the manager got drunk he got abusive. The others all had scars to prove their stories but Angel was blind to their pain, because E had never been aggressive to her. He had found her the sweetest mare, and she knew she was one of his favourites; however something she didn't know was the fact that E was running low on funds and that the young woman who had looked at her yesterday had actually made an offer to purchase her. But, like I have said, Angel was one of E's favourites and he couldn't bare to part with her. So that horrible night E went out to drown his sorrows, and when he returned, he was no longer the loving owner Angel knew, he was instead a vicious beast. E picked up the closest object, to this day Angel can't remember what it was because the wounds within her mind will never heal, and then he beat her with it. Now, E was smart, he made sure he got her legs first so she couldn't fight back then her eyes so she couldn't see, where he would strike next.
The next morning the woman who wanted to buy Angel returned, but to an empty house and a locked barn. She merely assumed that E had gone to a show with one of the horses and would return in a few days; little did she really know that all eight of E's horses where trapped in that barn, this included Angel who faded in and out of conciousness. After another 2 weeks of not being able to reach E the woman finally called the SPCA, and what they found was quite horrifying. All of the horses were on death's doorstep, and Angel was on the brink of knocking, due to the infections she had in her wounds she was one of the worse off. Luckily, they got her to the vet fast, and it took months of rehab but Angel can now finally come to Ironwood to live out her days in a herd that will love her forever, and an owner that only shows love never aggression. Angel still remains one of the sweetest mares at our stables even after everything she has endured.

show name; Twilight Step Aside
barn name; Eliza
gender; mare
halter color; Black
story;
The black stallion was up to something. Eliza looked over to Pete, he hadn't noticed she was onto him... yet. She marched up him.
"And what do you think you're up to?" Eliza demanded looking at Pete. He span around.
"Erm.. Nothing..." He said with a mischievous sparkle in his eye. She sighed, she knew he was lying.
"Come on, spit it out, I know you're lying"
"Um.. I was getting a gift for my mother, y'know?" He said unsure. Eliza shook her head and looked at the stallion.
"C'mon Pete, stop with the lies, tell me what has happened." She said snorting. He sighed and looked around.
"I saw something I shouldn't have and now we're are in major trouble." Pete said suddenly looking worried. Now he wasn't lying.
Her eyes widened. "So what exactly did you see?" She asked slowly and shakily. He put his head down and shook his mane.
"You don't wanna know, but we are in danger out here. Get back to the barn, let me deal with it!" He said. Pete threw his head up nervously. His ears spun quickly. "They've found us..." He whispered. Eliza breath caught and her heart beat faster.
"W...what d..do you mean 'They've found us?" Eliza asked Pete, she was trembling.
Five scarred and aggressive looking stallions, each about 19hh stepped out of the shadows and surrounded them.
"What exactly did you do?" Eliza hissed to Pete. Before he could reply, the largest of the lot, a huge scarred chestnut stallion spoke, his voice was cruel and deep.
"You're little friend here is too nosy for his own good, but we won't have to worry about him anymore... or you telling about us." He said with a sneer. Eliza gasped and started to tremble. The stallions sniggered. Pete pinned his ears and snapped. Eliza noticed their hooves were chipped and sharp. They could make her death look like a mountain lion with their hooves. Her eyes showed white.
"Pete, go!" She yelled. He was a young stallion with his whole life ahead.
"No!" He neighed at her in shock. The big stallions laughed mercilessly. They singled Eliza out and circled her. Pete paced around the outside of them. He received a few kicks but nothing compared to the injury she was about to receive.
The next thing she knew was black.
Eliza woke up and heard that she was surrounded by the whole herd. Rebel came up to her and said
"You've been badly injured. Pete attacked them. He chased them off. I don't know how but he did it. It's a surprise he didn't get injured." Eliza sighed and weakly got up. She limped to the stream where Foxtrot bathed all of her cuts silently. Then it got Eliza.... She couldn't see.
