Name Meaning: His colouring and markings reminded me a little of an okapi, so I went to look for their Latin name, because I like using the Latin names of species. However, Okapi are called Okapi Johnstoni, and as I didn't want to call him Johnston, I looked at the scientific family of Giraffidae instead. I found an extinct genus of giraffes called the Shansitherium ["The Beast of Shanxi"] and was about to call him Shanxi or Shansi, when I saw that one species was called Shansitherium Tafeli and decided I liked the sound of it.
