A little something for my best and closest of friends on the entire face of planet Earth!

These guys seem like a really odd pair, eh?
Well the horse is a Scandinavian Stock horse bred on a Norwegian reindeer farm to be involved in reindeer herding. She has a good mixture of all sorts of breeds in her, but is mostly Icelandic to keep her hardy during the cold winter months. She had a fairly normal upbringing, with her owners halter training her as a yearling and then breaking her in for riding at the age of two years. She grew up alongside the reindeer herds, forming a special bond with one little female reindeer in particular. They were like sugar and spice, salt and pepper, fish and chips. You couldn't keep them separate for long periods of time. According to the farmer in charge it was 'heart warming to watch'.
On one fateful day, however, this mare's life was about to change. It was the annual reindeer migration, where herders have to move their reindeer from their summer pastures to their winter pastures. It was all going smoothly until one of the reindeer calves got her legs caught in between two rocks, close to a steep cliff face. As the mare's rider rode closer to help, the mare lost her footing and fell onto one of the ledges not too far below. The rider was thrown and her left leg in two places, but the mare damaged her leg as well. She was lucky not to break it, but she was rendered unable to complete the migration on foot and had to ride the rest of the way in a horsebox. Once they had reached the end of the migration she appeared to be Ok, but her owners didn't want to risk her leg on the rough terrain. With a heavy heart they decided to retire her and, upon hearing how well they treat their horses, travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to Cottonwood Wild Horse Ranch to give her a chance to find a new home.
Now are for her reindeer companion...
As stated before the two grew up together on the reindeer ranch and have been inseparable ever since. As soon the mare gained her injury and had to cease her work this female reindeer stopped eating and began behaving abnormally. She began unsettling the herd, so her owners decided to do something out of the ordinary. With Cottonwood's permission, they decided to let the reindeer be rehomed, as a companion animal alongside the mare.

Hope you like 'em Seren. I know you're not one for gifts, but I couldn't help myself.
After all you have done for me this semester, especially when I hit that low point earlier on, I felt you deserved this and so much more. I will probably write something more on Christmas Day, so do stay tuned.
I love you, my dear! <3
