Deerssert are a mystical, mythological species that appear in history every so often. Sightings grew sparser and sparser through the years, but now they've started to appear more and more. Here at the HQ, a centre dedicated to keeping these creatures from being hunted, we cannot foster them all-- and that's where you come in!

The simplest way to explain them? Deersserts are deer with a twist! While the specifics vary from deer to deer, they all have a few things in common. Deersserts have muscle, skin, fur and bone, but they are described as tasting like sweets. Their scent lingers so much that hides carry a fragrant scent even after death. Instead of fluffy tails, they have a pouf of whipped cream or ice cream [depending on the deer!] with some manner of fruit on top.

Size-wise, they're about the size of a border collie, but have been known to grow to the size of a horse in rare cirucmstances. [In even rarer circumstances, they have gotten bigger. This is the largest deerssert known.] Likewise, they are born as small as a full-grown rabbit, and some never progress past this size.

How Did They Lose Their Eyesight?
Opal was enjoying a nice relaxing day on the beach when she choose to take to the waves and do some surfing. She loved to surf, it was just so relaxing. But even the best of surfers (which she definitely wasn't one) took a tumble here and there. Opal was just cresting a wave when she was knocked from her bored and sent tumbling along in the wake of the wave. she would have been just fine if it wasn't for the fact that blue ringed octopi liked spending there summers in these warm waters as well. just the way she fell and was pulled by the current you got a frightened young octopus to the face. the poison got into her eye and made her blind in that eye almost instantly. but Opal still enjoys surfing and keeps a blue ringed octopus as a pet to remind her that she is not the only thing that enjoys the water and the waves..

Misty is only blind in her left eye. Her other eye is a clear amber.
How Did They Lose Their Eyesight?
Misty huffed and puffed in her stall, she hated being in a place where she couldn't see any other deersserts. She stomped her hooves and was bursting the other stall deersserts ears. One of the more abusive employees came up to her with a scowl on his face. "Shut up ya dang thing!" He yelled, lashing a whip beside him. He struck Misty's back and pulled back his arm to hit her face. She panicked quickly turned her head, but only her right eye escaped. The whip struck down, starting at her brow, and hit her eye. She bucked and panicked but the man raced away before the other workers could see what he had done. When the came, she was laying on the ground, crying feebly, blood running done from the whip. Her left eye still has the mark of the whip till this day.

Both eyes are blind, but both are blood red.
How Did They Lose Their Eyesight?
Willow comes from the past. She is a ghost you
see. In her past, there is a story how she went blind.
Willow stepped in. "Mother, you called?" she asks wearily. Her mother
tends to lash out when she misbehaves. Keeping her mother's secret
is hard, and her not using her magic to clean makes her have to clean
her brewing pot. "Bring me the bottle of blood grains," she says
hoarsely. Her voice cracked badly. She was aging quickly. "Are you sure
it will help?" Willow asks, unaware her mother's motives. She nods,
"Child, I know more than you think." She steps wearily towards the shelf
and grabs the bottle of grains. Her hooves shake as she hands it to her
mother. "You have much more sight than your mother. She needs better
sight," she opens the bottle, and throws the sand like grains at her child's
eyes. Willow's eyes tear up, as she tries to blink them out. "What was
that?" she asks as she rubs her eyes. She tries to find the mirror, but the
room has gone black. "Mother?" she called. She felt no pain as the glass
shattered on the back of her head.

Only her left, other is pitch black completely, no white at all, though she can still see out of it. So one side is completely white, while the other is black.

How Did They Lose Their Eyesight?
Maia bolted out of her home, neighing (idk whatever sound a deer makes lol) loudly. She was a slave, you see, and had never actually had a true home. She could withstand hours of work, and would never complain, but this place was abusive... it was terrible. And she had finally gotten her chance to run. She was still scared though - fearing for her life, actually. Each deer that had run before had each come back with something missing, and was also supposedly mute - they never talked. One of Maia's best friends tried running. She came back with a missing leg and wouldn't budge on the talking. Yes - it was completely morbid, terrifying at its best. Maia ran... and ran. But she was caught. She bucked and spun, trying to escape the grasp of this horrid being. They brought her back, into the haunting shed, where the deer could hear the screams as their friends suffered inside. They decided to make her blind. Not the worst punishment. But once they were done with that eye, she bucked and twisted and - got free. She ran completely away. And now she got why the others wouldn't talk... They were too strained. And to this day, it takes almost all of her energy just to get her name out. So she prefers to not talk at all, and most other Deersserts call her Joker - not a very nice nickname, but she goes along.
