Day 5Last night was sort of hard. My back aches and I'm pretty exhausted. Every now and then during the night Ranger would kick at his stall then stop then continue. I had to keep getting up to calm all the horses down from Ranger's loud kicking. As soon as I can I'm getting him away from this kicking habit. It's not tolerated in the stable. It scares the other horses and could hurt the horse doing the kicking. It's just not acceptable.
I slowly ate my breakfast while in the barn to keep Ranger from making a big fuss in his stall. He'd glare over at me every time I snapped at him to stop. Tonight he'd be put in the field since there weren't any storms called for. While he'd be grazing I'd be going to meet my friends at the ice cream shop across from the Farmer's Market. Ren was busy so he couldn't go so it was just going to be a girl's day.
Once I finished eating I grabbed Ranger's lead rope and hooked it onto his halter, leading him out to the field. He happily pranced beside me with his head held high as if he just won a competition. As much as he was a handful you couldn't help but love him. He's so sweet when he wants to be. I couldn't stay mad at him long. I opened the gate, let him off the lead, then shut the gate back. He went straight to grazing while I filled up his water trough with fresh water and fed him. I ran a hand through my brown hair then left my boy alone.
I made my way to my red lifted up Ford truck rather slowly, hopping up into the driver's seat. I started up the truck then drove down my family's large driveway and onto the dirt road we lived on. After about eight minutes I pulled onto the main road and made my way down the highway to the ice cream shop. Soon enough I got there and my four friends' cars were in the parking lot.
I got out after parking and turning off my truck. I walked over to my friends who were already sitting down at a table inside. They all looked up when I walked in, swiftly getting up to get to the cashier, all craving ice cream. I ended up laughing slightly before ordering after them, getting a vanilla cup of ice cream with Oreo's mixed in it. I walked over and sat beside them all.
Emma Dale was the small, shy, brunette with emerald green eyes in the blue tank top and green shorts. She didn't talk much and preferred to read rather than gossip. Next to her was Zoey Layne, the tall blonde with bright blue eyes in the pink skirt with matching top. She was talkative, funny, and sweet. She'd never meant to hurt a flea by her words. On the other side of Emma was Dylan Kale, the chestnut brunette with sweet brown eyes in the blue jeans and blue plaid shirt. She was bubbly, tomboyish, innocent, and sweet. She wasn't into dresses or skirts, rather into jeans, shorts, etc. Lastly, the girl beside me with the raven colored hair and dark green eyes in jeans and a purple tank top was Riley Adams. She was bubbly, funny, interesting, laughable, and at times quite quiet.
"We saw your statuses about your new horse," Dylan piped up as she ate her chocolate ice cream with M&M's in it.
"Have you seen him yet? I know you were over during the day to ride Night and give him a little exercise," I asked as I ate.
"Yeah. I saw him in the field. He's a handsome gelding. You're one lucky girl to have him. What did you decide to call him? I know you texted me the first night that you didn't know what to name him," she answered.
"I decided on his show name to be
The Lone Ranger but I call him Ranger for his barn name. He's pretty cool and sweet. He's gentle with me but does know how to nip if you're agitating him," I replied.
"Have you got him halter trained yet?" Riley asked as she looked over, wiping her mouth from when ice cream slid down her chin.
"Yeah," I nodded. "He was fairly quick to be trained with a halter and lead."
"How is he in the barn?" Emma asked softly as she looked up from the current book she was reading.
"He's...alright," I shrugged. "He kicks his stall and I had to spend the night with him last night to make sure he wouldn't hurt himself."
"When are you training Ranger to stop it?" Zoey questioned as she finished up her strawberry ice cream.
"I'm going to start hopefully sometime this week. I can't have him kicking and tearing up the whole stable. I can't spend anymore money."
She nodded before raising a brow, "How about we all go for a sleepover at Dyl's house?"
Dylan swiftly lifted her head, "What? I didn't agree to have you all over."
"Well now you have," Riley laughed as she got up to throw all of our empty cups away. "Come on let's go give December a relaxing evening with the girls."
Dylan only laughed with a nod and we all filed out to our cars, all heading to our houses first then heading straight to Dylan's for a nice sleepover.
