Equid's Name: Faline
Age: 2 years, 9 months {quite young}
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.1hh
Story: story about her eyes turning gold and everything therefore turning gold then her eyes turning other colors and the world sorta spazzing lol
The sensation of a light, airy touch forced the young filly's eyes open. Blowing out air to produce a small, amused snorting sound, she swished her tail- left, right, then left again, as always- before struggling to her feet. Opening her eyes further, she twisted her pale face upwards to find small, crescent-shaped willow leaves dusting her face. She giggled lightly and bobbed her head up and down, enjoying the thin branches running through her auburn mane. Faline walked slow out of the entangled branches, pausing only to blink her long lashes in surprise as a leaf smacked her eyes, like shiny little plums. She emerged onto a riverbank, which she thought was rather like a fantasy tale. Daintily placing one of her hooves on the surface of the water, she closed her eyes and listened to the soft burbling that was the rush of clear blue water over dull grey stone. She took a long breath in, then let it out, relaxing and withdrawing her small cream hoof onto steady, firm ground. After another long pause, Faline opened her eyes- and promptly started in surprise. Letting out a small, shrill whinny, she pinned her ears back and whipped her tail over the ground, leaning back, back, away from the river that had moments ago been a soft baby blue but was now very definitely a molten-yellow gold!
She closed her eyes again, for a few heartbeats, then opened them once more, blinking very rapidly. But...no, this was no mirage. The water was definitely not blue anymore, and the young mare wondered if it was still water at all. She moved away from it cautiously, reversing back into the thin, drooping branches of the willow tree. Faline's nostrils flared and she fought the urge to bolt as her gaze fixed a cluster of leaves near the tip of one branch. Yes, yes...not sage green at all but a pale, dusty gold! She paced for a minute, in circles around the large trunk, which also seemed several shades oranger than before. Eventually, she went back to the river. Terrified, she leaned over, and watched her reflection ripple and shimmer. Her mealy pelt was still the same, her creamy stripes and auburn mane- though all were tinted gold due to the water's strong color- but her eyes held no semblance to purple at all; in fact, they almost perfectly blended in with the water!
Bewildered, Faline jerked her head back and spun around until she was dizzy, for lack of another way to cope. Perhaps this was just....her mind searched frantically- a dream? She lay down, in the space between the willow tree and the river, closing her eyes firmly and not noticing at all the golden-orange grasses that reflected the sunbeams dancing in the sky. She hoped she would wake up, if indeed it were a dream, or that maybe everything would return to normal. But when she opened her eyes again....well, things looked different. Not gold, but not quite normal either. Everything seemed a bit....richer. And...bluer?
Faline panicked. No, no! she thought. I thought I was done with this! she raced over to the river, which had now turned an odd shade of blue-green. She raced back up to the willow tree- its leaves were much darker and bluer than before, and the trunk was suddenly swaddled in a deep pine green. The filly felt her heart speeding up as she realized this was out of control. She scrunched her eyes shut tight- knowing full well that they were a light teal shade- and spun again, When she opened them, she was facing an open plains, the one to the left of the river and the right of the willow tree. And, staring out at the grasses, she noticed their fuschia hue. The river was purple-tinged-pink, the leaves a dusty lavender...
Faline let out a terrified neigh, and suddenly collapsed to the ground- then jerked up. Her ears stood stiff and straight. Her breathing was loud in the quiet darkness of the forest she slept in. Slowly, it calmed, eased, until her breathing and heartbeat were slow and regular again. A dream, she told herself, shocked at the tendril of amusement coiling in her chest. It was just a dream.
And, in the cool blacks and dark greens of the forest, the young mare fell into a dreamless slumber.
