WHAT IS A MAKOATL?
A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered off the coast of the greenland sea. They have the powerful tail and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon. They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat. They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they are very protective and mothering to their offspring, as well as to each other the majority of the time.

This is my FOURTH and FINAL Makoatl.
As such, I took the liberty of writing out the majority of his information for
those who think I make my personal makoes without substance and simply for the lulz.
The rest of my makoatl life will be devoted to making adopts and/or
customs for others if they wish it. He is my final baby with the species
unless I give up one of my precious babs or talon decides to let me make
mas for myself LOOOOOOL but no really I'm addicted and it stops with this one! <3
All my makoatl are boys. #realworldprobs

This lil' mans name is Tokay.
PRONOUNCED (TOH-KAY)
He has, edit-wise and oddities wise;
- Double horns. Backwards ram horns and the start of secondary horns.
- Very complex and ornamental markings. There's reason behind it all.
- Two golden bangles on each main horn, and one on each leg.
- Two notches in his tailfin as opposed to the one of the lineart.
- A lil' blue goatee, and some obvious scruffy little hair edits.
- A golden tongue stud, woop de doooooooooooooooooooooo~
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
His personality is as follows.
CHARMING. He's very, very good with words, and very good at making impressions
on others. Though he may be quirky, and exasperating to be around, it's undeniable that he's a
delight when he tries to be. He has a way with words that can put even the most grumpy or rude
of makoatls in a sense of ease.
REBELLIOUS. Tokay despises authority. He has issues taking orders from anything
that seeks to give them to him. Whether this be from a creature bigger than he, or smaller, he
isn't likely to follow any given instructions unless he feels a particular need to. This overall rebellious
attitude has gotten him into many a scrap with the more aggressive makoes, but his fleet feet
usually get him out of such situations... most of the time. The times where speed and agility
cannot solve a problem, his charming words do the job his fast form cannot.
- - DISOBEDIENT. If a decision is made, or a judgment passed that he does not agree with,
regarding anything that may affect him or those he cares for, Tokay treats such occurrences as
non-applicable to himself. Big into following his heart, gut instincts and head rather than anyone
else's, if he feels something is wrong, he will not go along with it, no matter what risks he takes
and rules he breaks in the process. Unwilling to stand for being pushed around, this confident and
argumentative mako will give an earful to anyone trying to mold him into obedience, should he
choose not to want to fall into place.
- - DISRESPECTFUL. Tokay has no respect for anyone that hasn't earned it. He is selective
about those he accepts as her equals, and it takes more than just impressing this little mako to
gain such high a status in his eyes. Being knowledgeable as he is, he passes judgments on makoatls
not only by how they act toward him, but how they act to all, nitpicking their reputations, their
conversations, and their actions. Over-analytical and with a tendency to analyze those around him,
this mako can be your worst enemy or your greatest friend, all depending on how you act.
PROTECTIVE. Of his species, his siblings, and anyone, close to him or not. A mako with
a huge hercules complex, Tokay believes that to protect everyone from everything is his sworn duty.
If he can lend a paw over even the most trivial things, he'll be a happy, happy makoatl for the day.
Helpful and willing to help despite what he may be preoccupied with, this mako has a big heart to
match his big vocabulary.
- - AFFECTIONATE AND OPEN. Despite his lack of prudence in prying in to other makoes lives,
he's not a bad feline to have as a friend. He takes great care to be friendly and like-able to all he runs
in to- trying often to hold back some of his more irksome qualities so he doesn't come off as too
offensive or nosy around those he cares for. Very affectionate and loving, he isn't afraid to tell others
how he feels about them at the moment he feels it.
HIGHLY INTELLIGENT. It's not all just fluff in there behind the messy hair and the little
bit of a goatee! Highly intelligent and eager to exercise his brain, Tokay is more of a thinker than
a fighter, and prefers diplomatic solutions as opposed to those decided by tooth and claw. His
intelligence is not limited to hunting skills and strategy, however- he keeps up to date at all times
with other makoes he encounters, as well as strangers. Friendly and cunning, his network is extensive,
as this mako has a lust for information unmatched by any he has met thus far. Adept at manipulation
and good at digging out the truth of things, he's a verifiable reservoir of facts and knowledge to as
far back as the puphood of the eldest elder mako he has ever spoken to. Strategic and good at
improvisation, he is the kind of makoatl to take what life throws at him and spike it right back.
A quick thinker, and able to come up with snap solutions, as well as snap decisions, he's a good
mako to have on your side in a scrap- if he takes to you, that is.
- - INQUISITIVE AND NOSY. As mentioned, Tokay has an insatiable craving for information of
any form. More curious than he would care to admit, his inquisitive nature often borders on just
plain nosy, making him not the most well-liked mako in the sea. He's very thorough in his questioning,
as well as his sniffing out of information, and while this is a wonderful trait when pertaining to his
furthering of knowledge, he comes off as quite abrasive and up in everyone's business at the worst of
times. Curiosity killed the mako- and at the rate Tokay seeks out anything and everything there is to
know, he'll be dead faster than he thinks.

His misc. info is as follows.
QUIRKS. Tokay is a major conspiracy theorist. He believes in everything from unknown,
undiscovered beasts of the sea to theories of secret makoatl societies and planned executions.
Sometimes he gets way too over his head regarding these things, and has a tendency to theorize
wildly whenever something bad happens. Despite all his knowledge, he doesn't see the irony in him
blindly throwing out these conspiracy ideas.
ABNORMALITIES. Tokay has a pica- meaning an irresistible urge to devour things which hold
little to no nutritional value and which makos... really shouldn't consume. While his is not anything
dangerous- like sharp things, or specifically round things- he does uncontrollably eat jellyfish, a species
that most makoes do not touch because of their stingers and the disgustingly gummy aftertaste.
If he sees one, he will immediately go after it no matter what he was doing before. Often, he'll swim
off for days at a time to sniff out a school and hoark them down.
Tokay also has an odd habit of zoning out from the world. With all of the information rattling around in
his head, he'll retreat there on occasion and take a vacation from reality. When he does this, he freezes
completely- stops talking, eating, swimming... stops everything. It can last from a mere few seconds to
ages, but it's hard to miss. When his mind starts racing, his body simply freezes and lets it run.

His history is as follows.
YOU may have heard of Atlantis- the bustling, underwater utopia lost to the sea millennia ago.
Where people of a higher knowledge had congregated, had evolved, had... lived? Well, you've got
it partially right. You've got the half of it that people usually remember. You see, after the city was
sunk to the sea, and the human descendants deceased, it was overtaken by one of the oceans most
efficient and intelligent predators... the Makoatl.
IT started with two- a male and a female named Kato and Tualapi. Average makoatls in every respect,
they had been searching for the perfect place to raise the young baby mako growing in Tua's belly.
Unable to find a space the two were comfortable having their child in, they had traversed the seas
around greenland for ages. Every possible nook and cranny was checked- this one had too many
predators, that one not enough food, not enough protection, not, not, not- and they had yet to find
the perfect domain. It was almost like a nudge from fate that they stumbled across the remains of the
great city of Atlantis- nestled beneath years of coral and plant growth, like a veritable fortress for
anything that could fit comfortably through the tunnels in the buildup. These tunnels were perfect makoatl
size... just snug enough to keep out any larger, unwanted predators, but plenty big for prey and makoes
to go in. It became a haven for the two makoatl parents who settled there- lonely, with only the pair, and
not particularly easily accesible to anyone not in the vicinity and not possessing the knowledge of the
sanctuary- but SAFE. Secure.
VAST columns littered the stone platforms, and carvings and statues were abundant, like great guardians
of the lost paradise. Crumbled rooms and caverns formed in what had once been the foundation of the city.
There was space for all kinds of purposes- open, clear areas for congregating, swooping towers and natural
jungle gyms of coral and rock, seperate little caves for occupants, even soft beds of sea grass and soft
sandy patches for sleep. Crustaceans and fish swam, unafraid, throughout, providing a steady stream of
snacks to those up to chasing the little buggers. In short, Tualapi and Kato had found the perfect place to
raise their child and start a community.
OVER time, more makoatls travelling for sanctuary or for the lure of exploration found their little haven in
the waves. Word got round, rumor ran wild, and soon, it was a bustling makoatl town. Pups played in the
skeleton of what had once been a great human city. Older makoes gathered round to tell tales of their lives,
and crafts were made, sold, bought, and swapped by those with the talent to make. It was, in all notions of
the word, a true city beneath the sea, and it grew and grew, as the child of those first two makoes had-
strong, and fast.
THE pup's name was Tokay. He was the only survivor in an unusually larger litter of three, and he was doted
upon for this. His parents did everything in their power to bring him up comfortably- keeping him healthy
and well-fed, and, more than anything, cultivating his young mind to help him along a knowledgeable
path so that he may better the city they founded. This continued for years upon years- until such a time as
the first two makoes in Atlantis, and the parents of Tokay, passed on. Devastated, he fell off the
radar to the residents of the city, gone, but, life continued on, and his disappearance became old hat.
ONLY recently has Tokay returned in the eyes of the public. Silent as to where he was all these years, he's
returned with enough eloquence and charm to distract and deter the questions. He has plans for his
species is the only thing he'll say, and, knowing Kato and Tualapi's son, they must be quite big.
