It was time for the biggest event of her life.
Cinna traveled back to the village and was excited to see the summer solstice celebrations were already in full swing. Colorful banners flapped playfully in the warm breeze, and festive lights glowed brightly against the darkening sky. It was a lovely twilight hour, but all the citizens of Kalokairi celebrated as though the day had just begun, and in a way, it had. Their renewed energy was infectious, for even though Cinna was very worn out from her adventure, she suddenly felt the need to join in the festivities. She wandered happily throughout the village, chatting with the shopkeepers and playing with the children. Everyone was as bright and happy as a summer's dawn; it was hard to imagine how such strong spirits were sapped by the dark curse. The summer solstice celebration was as big as they could make it; after all, it was the first time in a long while that they could have it, and they had just been freed from a great evil. The baker's stall was stacked to the brim with delicious cakes and candies, and the smell of smoked fish wafted from the royal chef's station. The musicians played a variety of peppy tunes, and a dance was held in the village square. The King and Queen themselves were among those who wandered the colorful streets, and many of the villagers came up to express their relief and joy at seeing the beloved leaders in good health. It was truly an occasion to remember.
Many kalons came up to Cinna as well, showering her with their thank-yous and small gifts of appreciation. Word spreads quickly through a small village, and it was no secret that she was the one who had defeated the darkness. Even the members of the royal court were humbled enough to present her with a small bow or curtsy, which made her blush thoroughly from all the attention. She did her best to gracefully accept the praise given to her, but in all honesty, being in the spotlight made her rather uncomfortable. After all, she was simply a local baker. She had gone on this adventure for a change of pace in her mundane-but-happy life; she had never expected to be the ultimate hero of such a grand quest. She was glad she could help free the Kalokairians, but a part of her longed for the peace and quiet of her home. The great journey was over; she had learned and grown and made many new friends, but now it was time to leave. As the celebrations came to a close, Cinna said her goodbyes. The villagers happily loaded her with all sorts of goodies and provisions to last her on her way home, not wanting their hero to go wanting after all she had done for them. With a smile and a wave, Cinna left the land of Kalokairi and all its magic behind.
GAME OVER. THANKS FOR PLAYING!
