Well there was something off the bucket list - it turned out that Malory’s reaction to something going disastrously, awfully, fatally wrong was not blind panic or paralytic terror, but dark, bitter laughter. She gasped out frantic apologies to the Kalons around her as her narrow frame was entirely overcome by some cruel parody of mirth that not even the wailing sirens or kits could drown out; it wasn’t that she was being purposefully insensitive, but all that she could think of how, in the desperate boredom only seafaring could bring her, she had wished for some change in the monotonous blue ocean surrounding her, and some unmerciful god had certainly granted it. The once-blue, once-peaceful sky was near black with ash and smoke from the burning engine room, and there was barely a patch of ocean in sight, so dense was the swarm of lifeboats into which Kruise passengers were pouring. It was surreal, dreamlike; if not for the acrid tang of smoke in the air and the never ending drone of the sirens, Malory wouldn’t believe it was truly happening at all.

It was the shock of cold water as she was guided, dazed, into her lifeboat that finally convinced Malory it was real. And with the shock of the water came Malory’s own shock that her peaceful, boring Kruise had turned into this nightmare. She shivered, and shut her eyes tightly, paws over her ears to drown out the commotion around her. She knew, intellectually, that she should be helping search for land, or offering to share the water purification tablets she never left home without, or doing something - anything - to try rectify this situation. But Malory was cold and tired and a little bit of a coward, so she did what she had always done best - she hoped, and she wished, and she slept away this nightmare as best she could.

(Mordecai belongs to my brother, who is Klein's sister and also on the cruise!)

Klein was so excited when Mordecai originally told him about the cruise. She waved the flyer out in front of herself pretty dismissively, obviously not too thrilled about the idea of a (admittedly pretty sketchy) bargain vacation, but something about it just seemed way too interesting to pass up, something about the new sights and sounds of it.

He was asleep when the initial backfire happened, curled up in his covers after a long morning of hyper-activity and culinary exploration. It wasn't the noise that startled him awake, but the intense vibration he felt from somewhere within the ship. It made him jolt, and he attempted to scramble out of bed, tumbling face-first onto the floor as he did so. He pulled his dagger from it's place on his pouch- which had now fallen under his bed- and quickly readied it in his hand.

Was the ship under attack? Was he in danger- was Mordecai in danger? What about the other passengers, if this were the work of some beast, some kraken, could they fight it off?

His frantic thoughts were cut short by another loud boom, and he finally decided to investigate, charging from his room and through the corridors of ship. He had just made it onto the main deck when things really took a turn for the worst. There was another, louder bang from the bowels of the ship, causing it to rock again, but this time it was followed by some kind of siren. His fur bristled at the sound of it, this sharp, grainy noise that was almost overwhelming over the sounds of frightened passengers and crashing ocean waves. He made it back inside just in time to clearly hear the main announcement: that the ship was to be evacuated, and that they would be docked on a nearby island he has never heard of until further notice.

Stepping off of that ship felt absolutely unreal, like this was all some sort of strange dream. He was used to stressful situational of course, after all he hunted monsters for a living, but this was something entirely on it's own level. He felt very small in this situation.

He just stood at the end of the dock, looking over the landscape of the island and trying to take in his new surroundings. The port they docked in was... Kinda cute. A few buildings here and there, and a fantastic view of the beach. The locals seemed interested in the situation, obviously taken back by the cloud of smoke rising from the ship, and from the little interaction he's had with them so far, they seem like a fairly pleasant crowd.

As he stood there, the warm breeze ruffling his fur, and the smell of the salt water and foreign greenery filling his nose, he couldn't help but feel a bit... Excited?

The more of this new island he took in, the more he wanted to explore. To dig through the hot sand, and splash through the tidepools, to try all the new food and meet all the new people. His ear twitched in curiosity and he and finally officially took a step off of the dock, and onto this new place.

Sure, a cruise ship breaking down and almost sinking wasn't an "ideal vacation", or part of some "plan" (he was actually pretty sure he could sue for that... Something about safety and emotional distress... He should re-read that fine-print sometime), but he never really was one to follow plans anyways. He actually seemed to do better when doing things in the moment, and maybe just maybe that'll translate to vacationing as well!

He slung his belongings over shoulder and, with a deep breath, started his trek towards the town in the distance. First things first, he needed a map of this place. And another fruity drink.

And then? Adventure awaits! This was a whole new island to explore, and he was more than excited to see all of the sights, to hear all of the sounds, and to make this his best vacation ever!

Caleb honestly didn’t know what to think.

He had gone on this cruise to finally, finally get a vacation from his town. They would have to deal without his voice announcing things during the afternoon radio show for a week or two, hopefully.
Of course, as soon as the ship set off, he missed his little town terribly. Something always pulled him back. Some would joke that he was tied into the town.
He never corrected them.

Another factor was Klarissa. Caleb felt awful, leaving her behind, but she assured him that it was fine, she’d probably get seasick and ruin it and who would take care of the pets? He didn’t exactly trust the neighbors, and they were all used to her.

So.

He was on a cruise ship, alone, with a camera in his bag and a broad, straw hat on his head. This would be fine, totally fine. Have fun for the time he was here, get some nice photos to maybe print out and hang up.

Then the ship had crashed, stranding them on an island- Kalokairi, if he remembered correctly. And it didn’t look like it was going to be fixed any time soon, or at least within a week.

Caleb grimaced. He really hoped he’d be able to get more vacation time from his boss. [217]

After a day's worth of fun Mousse layed in his bed, trying to rest up before resuming his vacation.
And all was going pretty well, everything was silent and peaceful, when suddenly a huge explosion sounded, causing the hole ship to rock and sway, so much to the point Mousse tumbled off his bed and hit the floor. With a shocking thump, he let out a small yell as he snapped his head up, what!.... What? What happened? Where am I? feeling the boat sway Mousse let out a sigh, as he slowly pushed himself to his feet and gently rubbed the back of his head, . Must be some rough waves crawling sleepily back to his bed. he layed back down to try to resume his nap, but it became hard when his ears began twitch to a wave of commotion outside his door, lifting his head Mousse pushed himself up and rushed towards the door to see a wave of Kalons running past, all pushing and shoving to be the first on deck. Not meaning to Mousse accidentally jolted forward, do to the movement of the ship, and got stuck in the wave of kalons, being pushed this way and that Mousse desperately tried to find a way out, but to no prevail he found that he had already been pushed to the top of the deck were the captain and crew tried to take control, and get everyone to calm down. After enough persuasion the captain managed to calm everyone down and explain what had happened and the plan to get everyone on the nearby island. Sadly even after hearing that everything was ok a lot of kalons whent back into a panic and some began to argue demanding a refund. With all the commotion, and chaos, Mousse managed to quietly sneak back to his room to patiently waited for things cooled down, in the meantime as he waited. He decided to pack a small bag of Essentials to bring with him on the island knowing full well that he probably wouldn't have time later. Once all packed up he slowly existed his room to see a few Kalons on there way to get there belongings, they still seemed upset but it was nice to see that things were a lot calmer. Walking up on deck mousse looked about to see the as the ship slowly pulling up to the dock of a small island. Giving a gentle smile he slowly walked over to the side of the ship to watch as the water grew more shallow as the ship neared land. Though this wasn't something he exactly planned for, he wouldn't go as far as to say that he was upset that is vacation on the ship had come to in end, the good thing was no one got hurt, so over all he found the hole thing to be rather exciting, and now with the surprise detour to a mysterious island , Mousse looked on with wonder and excitement.

Turquoise was just enjoying the sights, not expecting what would happen. Gazing over the water, she was just thinking about how she had been able to enjoy the peace of the cruise. A loud boom and a jolt broke her thoughts, as she almost fell over from the jolt. Looking up, she took off the sunglasses she was wearing and looked around. Other kalons seemed to be reacting to the noise too.

What is happening?! Turquoise wondered, as she shifted her attention to the back of the boat, where she could see smoke and a bright glow. Did the ship explode?! Oh dear, lets hope land is around somewhere or we are going to sink. Most kalons were probably panicking by now, and Turquoise just didn't know what to do, her mind scrambling about what could happen in the next few minutes.

She turned around, and could see land in the distance. She relaxed a bit, but would they get there in time before the boat sinks? Turquoise noticed that the boat was heading towards the island.
After a few moments of tense waiting, the ship finally docked on the island. Yikes... Guess everyone is stuck here, including me.. Turquoise thought, as she looked back to where the damage was. She was kind of excited, but scared at the same time, not knowing what would be on the island.
