It was the summer and my mother and I were walking to the beach so I could go swimming with my friends. On our way to the beach were all these cute little shops. Before I continue, I should mention that I love strawberries. Displayed out in the front of one of the shops was a small glass strawberry. I ran over and noticed it was the last one. I knew my mother probably couldn't afford it, as money was tight so I just stared at the lovely strawberry in awe. My mother walked over to me, "Honey, you know..." I sighed and nodded "I know". The day went by fast, my mom left and next thing I knew it was time to go home. As my friends and I passed the shop, I noticed the glass strawberry was gone. When I got home I noticed my mother had a small box. She opened the box and there it was, the glass strawberry. My eyes began to water and I hugged her so tightly, thanking her every second for this precious gift. My mother worked that whole day to make enough to afford that strawberry. She was an amazing mother. [200]

Gender: Male
Writing: Asher was born early and small and sick. That he survived at all was enough to surprise his caretakers. But his parents stayed optimistic, naming him Asher, Hebrew for "happy" and "blessed," and nurtured their tiny kit as his health steadily improved.

However, as Asher grew, it was soon apparent that he had not escaped unscathed; he didn't react as expected to stimuli. Testing revealed that the undersized kit was nearly deaf.

Devastated that their son could not hear the world around him, his parents sought out every possible treatment. When he was big enough and strong enough, he underwent surgery to receive cochlear implants. When they had healed, were appropriately programmed, and finally switched on, the first sound little Asher heard was the sound of his mother's voice saying his name. After the initial shock wore off, Asher was so overjoyed, his tiny face could hardly contain his smile. He giggled and waved his little arms about in true toddler fashion as he was showered in tearful kisses and affectionate words.

Despite being so very young at the time, the memory has stuck with him, clear as day. Never will Asher forget the beautiful first sounds he ever heard.

When Adam was a young Kalon he used to adore going to visit his Nana. She'd always bake delicious fresh cookies for him to snack on while he played in her massive back yard. One day though specifically his Nana took him to the park to go play. While he was scampering around in the tall grass all by himself he found a little bird with an injured wing and leg. He took the bird to his Nana and she told him that they could take it home with them and try to help it get better. Adam took the little bird and placed it in a small box that he had padded with blankets and things that would often help him feel better when he was unwell. Quite a while passed however eventually the day came when his Nana came up to him and told him that it was time to let the little bird go because it had fully recovered. Though he was sad at first after taking the bird outside and watching how happy it was after regaining its freedom he couldn't help but smile from ear to ear as a little tear rolled down his cheek.
