origin;;The Japanese word for Shrimp and also a name for common shrimp sushi, his second favorite dish after his favorite food: Ramen!
reason;; Ebi was named this because his parents had just moved to Japan when he was born and thought that it sounded like a cute name. They didn't actually know that it was simply the word for shrimp because they had thought it was the name of someone who had created that kind of sushi.
nicknames;; Eb, Abe, and Bee, sometimes random other things by friends.

He likes having a bunch of random nicknames from friends in part because he used to get teased for his name, but also just because he thinks getting nicknames is a sign of a stronger friendship! :D

While Ebi is a boy, he's never really cared one way or the other about gender. He tends to just do whatever he pleases and doesn't really care whether it fits his gender role or not, but when he is asked, he is always quick to tell people that he is a boy. He doesn't feel comfortable being thought of as feminine or girlish, even if he can sometimes give people that impression.

Ebi was born on a dreary Monday morning on March 13th.
physique;; Short and Scrawny
No pun intended, but Ebi is a bit of a shrimp. He is really short and fairly scrawny, though he likes to remind people that he might still get a little taller before he's done. Considering he eats like a teenager still and still burns through it all enough to be practically skin and bone, he might be right, but then again, it could just be because he is such a spaz that he burns up all that energy. Despite his rather active life-style though, he isn't muscular at all and could be called wimpy when it comes to his physical strength. He doesn't really care about becoming strong the way he cares about becoming tall though, so it doesn't bother him much that he can't lift as much as most guys, or even girls, his age.

He lives on an American Military base in Japan. He was born there and grown up his whole life in Japan, but does a lot of traveling with his parents. However, when he moves out, which won't be too long from now, he plans to stay in Japan as he feels most at home there.
languages;; Japanese and English
Ebi learned Japanese and English at the same time due to his parents speaking English at home and the rest of the world he knew speaking Japanese and rough English. Because of this, he doesn't have an accent in either language, but when trying to speak Italian, which he's learning -very slowly- from his Italian pen-pal, he has a strange accent that is neither purely English or Japanese.

Ebi is currently a second year college student focusing on the culinary arts. He commutes to his school each day from his parents' home, but plans to move into his own apartment soon with money he has saved up from his job and a little help from his parents.
occupations;; Waiter
Ebi has a part time job as a waiter at a little restaurant near his campus. He doesn't get paid very much at all and makes most of his earnings off of his tips, which are erratic, depending on how much the people he serves like an overly friendly waiter. He hopes to be promoted to the kitchen though if he works hard enough, so he is very dedicated to his job.

instant ramen;; When he is sick and can't cook his own ramen, he will settle for someone making him instant Oriental and Shrimp Mixed Together with Freshly Chopped Green Onions added in. With a fishcake and boiled egg, if they could please manage. (◕//n\\◕)

restraunt;; On special occasions when Ebi goes to restaurants, he prefers most to get Shio ramen. It is thought to be the oldest type of ramen, and because of this Ebi has made it a tradition to always eat it when he goes out. He's grown very used to it and doesn't feel right getting anything else when he eats out. (◕‿◕✿)

home coooked;; Saving the best for last, Ebi's absolute favorite ramen is any that he makes for himself. This isn't because he makes the best ramen, but rather because he loves being able to make it for himself, always trying new styles, ingredients, combinations, and more. Ebi tends to eat a lot of ramen, because he says he can never cook the same bowl twice and he is always excited to see what the next one will be like. This is his favorite kind of ramen, even if it isn't a single flavor. /)◕ u ◕(\

Confident Outgoing Carefree Childish Obsessive Simple Minded

Ebi is one of those somewhat rare people who are truly light-hearted and happy-go-lucky inside and out. He doesn't use these traits to hide deeper troubles or even just put on an act, it is simply how he is. In fact, Ebi is very simple in general. He rarely reacts in unpredictable ways and is almost always able to find something to smile or be happy about. However he is also rather simple minded, generally unable to put much thought behind anything except his obsessions, which he is prone to getting a lot of. He isn't stupid, but he can be quite slow at times and will seem dumb because of it.

Ebi is also rather childish though and has a very wide-eyed view of the world. He still has childish faith in everyone and can look at anything and everything with wonder. He also tends to be hyper-active and playful, often starting up impromptu games either with just himself or with his friends. He can pout when he doesn't get his way -or when he is trying to get it- and knows how to turn on just the right amount of water-works to get his way, though he has noticed that his success rates have gotten worse as he got older.

His room reflects his obsessiveness and child-like wonder. It is full of things he has collected and the bright colors and toys often mislead people into thinking that it must be the room of a younger sibling because it looks like it should belong to someone between the ages of five and twelve. Luckily for Ebi, he isn't really phased by the opinions of others and in fact, often just doesn't notice if and when people are judging him. Even when he does happen to notice, he just doesn't really care what people think.

Chopsticks, Pandas, Ramen, Pokemon, Stamps, Buttons, Friends, Cooking, & Absolutely Anything Chibi

-His favorite color is actually pink, however he rarely wears it because he knows that greens, oranges, and tans are better suited to his appearance.
-Really adores anything cute or chibi and has a weakness for children. He is an easy push over when puppy-dog-eyes or pouting lips are used on him, despite his own mastery of the same tricks.
-Loves sweet and spicy flavored foods and will sometimes crave amaebi (sweet shrimp) over normal ebi sushi.
-Collects buttons of all kinds and keeps them on his messenger bag and occasionally puts his current favorites on his scarf.
-Loves to cook all kinds of food for others, but mostly just eats ramen, sushi, rice balls, and deserts himself.
-Has a petrifying fear of any kind of mask that covers or hides people's eyes because it unnerves him to not know if someone is looking at him or not. The eyes are also the first thing he always looks at on a person, so not seeing them makes him uncertain of how to go on. He also just finds most masks creepy in general as well.
-Despite being childish, he has a tendency to watch all kinds of shows and anime, including psychological and horror ones that surprise anyone who sees him watching such things in his brightly colored, toy-filled room. The most amusing part of this is that he's generally just oblivious to the sexual or gory scenes and in it for the plot, but will relate the scenes matter-of-fact-ly if asked what happened in the episodes.

Shrimp Bandanna
After his parents were told what they had named their son, they got this bandanna for Ebi, thinking it was extremely cute to have him running around in a little bandanna that looked like what he was named. While it didn't keep the kids from teasing him when he was little about his name, he almost always wears it. In fact, now that he's older, when he tells people his name, they usually look at his bandanna and assume it is a nickname, which makes having it a lot easier.

Chopsticks Ear-Pin
When Ebi discovered chopsticks for the first time, he was enthralled. The economy of using two sticks to eat seemed so outlandish and yet practical to him since his family had always used forks and spoons. He became a little obsessed with chopsticks, collecting different kinds, using them in art and when dressing, and only eating with them. He made this ear pin when he was in middle school to wear around all the time. It unties so that he can eat with them and he is always careful to keep them very clean.

Rice Hat
Ebi's face has very sensitive skin, so his parents used to get him all sorts of baseball caps to try and keep his face shaded while they traveled, but he never liked them and would always take them off and get burned up again. At some point though, he saw someone wearing a rice hat in a cartoon and decided that they were just really cool. He begged his parents to get him one, and since they needed him to wear some sort of hat anyways, they finally caved in. He almost always wears it now anytime he goes outside and insists to this day that they are the coolest thing ever.

Panda Messenger Bag
A more recent addition to his usual get-up, this messenger bag was the one that Ebi got when he started college. His parents had finally learned by then that he wasn't going to bother thinking about appearances from anyone's point of view but his own and his friends just laughed at him being his usual childish self when he got it. Despite it's simple design, Ebi has managed to personalize it by daily changing out which buttons are on it. They all come from a large collection of his that he's been collecting since he was fairly small as he absolutely
loves buttons.

Acquaintances
With Ebi, it is really hard to just be an acquaintance. It's almost purely that he either considers you a friend or a stranger, but there are times, such as with the customers at work, that he knows he has to keep himself friendly but distant. Unfortunately, he's not very good at it and will often eaves drop on people he is getting to know and sometimes he'll act just too friendly for their level of familiarity.
Friends
This is the category that Ebi would put almost all the people he knows into. Being friends with Ebi is something between having a child or a pet and having an over-protective parent. Ebi tends to be very care-free with his friends, the way he often is with most of life, but can also tend to try and care for them. He is tender with his friends and over-apologetic when he makes any trouble for them, which is frequently enough that he is often teased for being an air-head.
Best Friends
With his very best friends, Ebi acts very much like he does with any of his friends, but he is also more likely to actually let them help him in return for help he gives them. They are also the only people he ever has his rare moments of seriousness with and can tell his deepest thoughts and secrets to.
Pen Pals
Ebi has three main Pen Pals who all live in different countries: England, America, and Italy. They are all friends whom he made while traveling with his family. While it is very common for Ebi to write letters to any and all of his friends, what makes these three special is that he writes to them at least once a week and is helping them learn Japanese. Since he knows English already, this is just a kindness to the first two of his pen pals, but with his most recent pen pal, he is doing it in exchange for lessons in Italian. Due to all his letter writing, Ebi has large costs in postage stamps and he tends to keep the stamps he gets from his pen pals in a little album.
His Crushes
When Ebi has a crush, it's rather obvious. He'll directly tell them that he likes them and try to do all sorts of things for them. He can be a tiny bit like a stalker, trying to figure out what they like so that he can get or do those things for them. He is very sweet though and his puppy-love is sometimes hard to bare as he doesn't take a hint that someone doesn't like him back. He has to be told directly and when that happens, he will try to act okay with it, but he's not a very good actor.
Crushes on Him
Being his simple-minded self, Ebi is actually quite oblivious to anyone who has a crush on him. Depending on how they act about it, he's most likely to just think of them as really close friends, rather than realizing that they may have deeper feelings for him. When someone confesses to him, he is usually really surprised and often disbelieving. It can take a while to convince him that it isn't a joke, and then, after that is done, he'll feel bad for not noticing right away and try to make up for it by showering the other person with attention and home-cooked meals. He doesn't have the heart to ever reject people, and when a relationship ends, it is usually because the other person realizes that he either doesn't suit them, or that he is only being so nice to them so as not to hurt their feelings.
Family
Ebi is very close to his immediate family since they are the only ones who live in the same country as him. He depends on his parents a lot and is always trying to make them proud without ever actually listening to what they are telling him. With his more distant relatives, Ebi is very friendly, but not particularly close since he only visits most of them a couple times a year at best. He does however keep in contact with them, just as he does with everyone he meets, through traditional letter writing and mailing.

Ebi once met Vermont in a hospital when he was traveling with his parents and got a small cut. Vermont gave him the shots he needed and Ebi thought he was really cool. If he ever sees him again, he is determined to make him some thank you ramen.

Being a chef, Otto is someone that Ebi looks up to. Ebi hopes to someday get the chance to make ramen with Otto because he is sure it would be a bowl he'd remember.

Acting a lot like a kid himself, Ebi is as naturally drawn to Zevia as the students in the class she is student teaching. He goes to her when he needs help, knowing that she'd always be willing to assist him or anyone else who asked. After meeting her in America, he started up a short pen-pal-ship with her that has grown into one of his three permanent and daily pen pals. He writes letters both to her and to the students in her class.

Just being a fun person to hang out with, Ebi enjoys going places with Sunni because she is always fun to hang out with, wherever they might go and together they are sure to make even more friends.

Being Sunni's little brother, and actually being closer in age to him than his sister, Ebi is curious about Kade, but afraid of bothering him or saying anything wrong since he's both blind and generally moody. It's a unique reaction since Ebi usually pesters moody people to try and cheer them up, but he isn't sure how to act with Kade.

Ebi met Issac at a Dairy Queen while he was visiting family in America and they were accidentally given each other's blizzards. Neither really cared, since they both like all the flavors. Ebi has tried to stay in touch with Issac ever since.

Callie reminds Ebi of wasabi sauce, and not just because she is so green, but rather because of her how spunky she can be, her mannerisms, and how fun it is to hang out with her, even if it can leave even him feeling exhausted.

Ebi and Toothless are two of a kind, though at the same time not the same at all. Ebi loves to talk, but he also loves to sit back and just watch Toothless's attempts at flight. He likes to watch, then be there to help patch up the scrapes. When they hang out, Ebi tends to let Toothless have the fishcakes from his ramen.

Another odd-ball, Ebi gets along with Onna so well almost because no one else gets along with her. He has a need to be a friend to those with few friends and, well, it also helps that she likes children since he's often acting like one.

"Ty is probably one of Ebi's best friends, even among so many good ones. They enjoy trying to cook new things together and being each other's taste testers. Ebi also enjoys all the different things that Ty calls him when he forgets his name, which is frequently,
since Ebi makes no attempts to help him remember it.

Lemon-Lime Shrimp. Ramen loves the tangy zing of the lemon and lime, and the sweet shrimp.
She'll garnish a bowl with crispy wasabi rice crackers to get a bit of spice. This feisty gal can't get enough
of the delectable treat, and will happily eat it three meals a day.

Ramen is a girl full of spunk. She's got a formidable temper, so watch your step.
Anyone who gets on her nerves is almost guaranteed to get an earful out of her.
Unless of course, you've got a steaming bowl of ramen to make up for it. However,
Ramen isn't a total grump. In fact, she's a quite the comedian amongst friends. If you're
lucky enough to be a very close friend, she's really a big sweetheart. When it comes to Ramen's occupation of ramen tasting, she
becomes the most serious Plumerian in the world. She savors the flavor, analyzes ingredients, and finally,
arrives at her opinion on the noodles.
