What's with the watches?:
Steam has always wanted to be part of a steampunk world. She hopes that one day she would be able to make a machine that would allow kalons to travel in between worlds. Steam had decided that they would need clocks to be able to figure out how much time would go by when they were able to travel. She was finally able to make a machine that allowed her to travel between worlds, but it had been destroyed on the way there and now she lives in a world of steampunk and is trying to fix it up. She has the watches to watch how much time had gone by while she was trapped in that other realm.

What's with the watches?: Reuben is obsessed with time. He has OCD, and it's mostly centered around having to know the time and the date. Reuben is always checking the time, calculating how long things will take, and planning out activities and setting aside time for important things. If Ray can't see the time, he gets panicky and jittery and gets anxiety, often shredding furniture or anything nearby. He loves the ticking sound of clocks and usually falls asleep to the tick-tock of his favorite clock. Reuben is a tinkerer at heart, and his parents find a lot of small contraptions throughout the house, made out of scrap metal and old screws and wires. His obsession with time is soothed when he's tinkering, though he builds a lot of watches. Ray likes crafting his watches to do special things, like spraying out mist for when it's hot, ticking to different rhythms, folding into figures, and so much more. He hopes to be a mechanic when he grows up- or any job that lets him tinker and create machines and such.

What's with the watches?:
"Why, I'm a train keeper of course! Who else is going to be the one to keep the train on
schedule around here? With how lazy the rest of the crew is it's no wonder I'd have all of
my beautiful watches... If we aren't on time to our stops, our pay could get docked, or
someone could miss something and file a complaint to the owner, and then we would all
be out of a job!
It's quite stressful being the only one who thinks about time around here, but as the
train's head keep I suppose it really is my duty to do so. Really, I wouldn't have any other
job in the whole world besides this one. Such diligent keeping of time has saved me
from numerous disasters, even outside of the workplace... such as my cousin Helga's
wedding. It was a terrible wedding, for sure, but she was nice to me because I was the
only one there on time! Ha!
Just imagine how bad it would be around here without me. I'm a huge asset to this
company, and everyone loves me because I keep them in their jobs! Time is a key thing
in the travelling business, you know."

A train keeper? Really?:
"Of course! You could say that I'm only a train keeper because my father
was a train keeper, and his father before him, and his father, and so on
and so forth, but really, it's quite the interesting job. Instead of sitting
in one of those dreary office complexes every day, I get to travel the
country in a very stylish diesel-electric passenger train.
Sometimes I'm in the cars, other times I'm working with the crew behind
the scenes. My job is mostly spent making sure that the customer
satisfaction rate is at 101%, and that the crew is doing everything just
right so that we can get to our destination on time and ready to get the
next passengers on board.
It's quite a luxurious way to travel, and inevitably quite expensive, so
our cars number in only a few, but it's quite scenic and we have many
folks who use such a mode of transportation for that reason alone! Our
return guests get the best seats in the house and I often have a snack
n' chat with them myself. I don't think there's another job in the world
where one can have such a unique relationship with their clientele and
their crew.
And, you know, my favorite part is when the older folks or parents bring
in kids. I love seeing them smile and get amazed at the train. Sometimes
I take the young ones on tours of the train (with their guardian's
permission, of course,) and it's just... an amazing thing. Definitely one
of my more favored parts of the job!"

If you're a train keeper, then why the glasses?:
"Well, ah... Unkie Niram is a bit hard on sight. I can't see very well,
and on top of that have a difficult time perceiving things, but the
specially made glasses I have help me do just like a normal person
would! It changes the surrounding colors for me a bit so they're a
bit crisper and more clear, and they're my favorite thing (aside
from my watches, of course).
Additionally, they're pretty stylish, and give my whole outfit quite
a unique and old-timey, steampunk sorta look and I love it. I also
love how snuggly they fit around my head, and that they match my
coat and my other accessories. I have yet to lose my glasses and
that's a pretty amazing thing, since I seem to lose everything
except for the time...
When my glasses adjust the colors around me, it makes everything
look like one of those really pretty sunsets over the beaches you
always see on the internet. It's quite stunning and I myself have
used my goggles for a camera filter! The photos themselves turned
out pretty great, and I think those were photos I won a junior
photography competition with.
I used to get teased for the darn things but when I got older they
became a very interesting conversation piece. Why, for Christmas
one year an almost friend of mine bought a fake but similar pair
to them and we walked around the coast that way!"

So... anyone/anything special?
"Oh, I'm afraid not.. I'm not really one for relationships.. plus,
who would ever want to have to talk to me every day? I'm an
okay fella but I do know that I get quite annoying sometimes!
So for the most part, my life is mostly spent on the trains,
and exploring the nearby townships when I have extra time
between travels.
I do, however, have a mostly white and brown ferret by the
name of Guinevere. She likes to take trips with me and will
often be on the train. Guinevere is also the kids' most
favorite crew member, and more likely than not she'll go with
me to see the children on the train.
She's quite a unique lass, and I'd have to say that she is my
best friend. Guinevere is lovely to hold, and she travels the
train via my shoulders whenever we go to visit the many
passengers!"

Personality:
Niram Percy is a bit more odd than the average person should be. Growing up he was
always very timid and shy, but when he got older he flourished and became the lovable,
flamboyant train keeper we know today. Niram's job brought him completely out of his
shell, and now he absolutely adores being around people. He talks a bit old fashioned,
but that's the way his father taught him how to speak. Of course, people don't really
mind much, they find it entertaining and think it brings him closer to home with his
personality. Niram believes in peace and equality, and is probably the most loyal friend
one could have (if you manage to see him outside of work, that is).

Hobbies:
Other than the obvious (his job as a train keeper and collecting watches), Niram does
quite a bit. He enjoys nature walks and hiking, exploring towns, and going antiquing.
His favorite place to go is around Branson, Missouri, where he can do all of these
things and maybe catch a show or two at a local theatre. His second favorite would
most likely Denver, Colorado, with all its nearby towns with varying historic things and
the nearby mountains, as well as all of its cultural festivals and celebrations.

Do you still have any ambitions?:
"Ah, of course I do. Like any normal person I still hope to start a family
of my own one day. I don't see that happening any time soon, though...
but a man can always dream, right? I know I'll find someone eventually,
but for now Guinevere is good enough for me.
Additionally, I was hoping to go back to school and maybe get a degree
in geology, perhaps so that after I am too frail to do such work as a
train keeper does, I'll have something to fall back to. Plus, it would be
good for Guinevere's immune system and I would still get to travel!
Other than that, I really... don't have too much planned. The future is
quite unpredictable, and much like the passing of my father can be
spontaneous and destructive. I just hope everything turns out okay!"

So if you travel so much, where do you live?:
"Oh, I live on a sort of... old wooden cabin. I don't visit it too often,
as I'm usually out of town (whether it be business or pleasure), so it
isn't the most glamorous house but I like it a lot. It's a wooden cabin
with a modest sized living area, a bedroom and a guest room, with
a very nice kitchen. It's kind of like those ones you always see in
photos, like it's old and a cabin in the mountains from the 1800s,
which everyone thinks is haunted even though it isn't.

Kalon Name: Aiser, which means "The Beginning."
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Job: Aiser's dream job is to start his very own timepiece shop, where he can sell watches, pocket watches, clocks, antique timepieces, and even his own creations. However, it is merely an idea in his head at this point, and a rather new one at that. As he was growing up, he planned to be a professor, intrigued with the notion of teaching others, but he recently changed his mind. Despite his new life goal, in college he chose to major in education anyway, still interested in teaching children. He would much rather give someone a good lesson that they can carry throughout their lives after walking into his shop, however. He feels that is more impactful and much more useful to someone. As a child, he always carried life lessons he was told along with him, but never really remembered much from school. Unfortunately, his dream to play a role as a mentor to growing Kalons as an owner of an artisan shop would have to be put aside for the time being, as he knows his goal to start the shop is a long way away. He figured a job as a teacher would be a good enough substitute as he needs some way to take care of himself until his dream becomes reality. Even so, he spends a lot of his time messing with watches and clocks, trying to learn how each works as he slowly prepares for his dream career.

What's he like? Aiser isn't someone you'd describe as an oddball; in fact, he is quite the opposite. He is flexible and easygoing, not as structured as he thought he would be. He was certain his whole life that he would grow up to be as rigid as the clock hands on his fur, but ultimately he was surprised that couldn't be further from the truth. He doesn't like to be uptight or very organized and would much rather improvise and see where the world takes him in life than try to plan his entire life. However, there are plenty things that can stress him. Sometimes, he has a tendency to put too much on his plate and can quickly become overloaded. Not to mention, he can be easily persuaded as well, often times promising things he knows he can't fulfill or following stupid ideas of others. On the contrary, he can also get a little stingy with whom or what he spends his time, knowing his shouldn't waste it. Even so, he tends to fold for other Kalons, not wanting to turn anyone away. Or, sometimes he simply doesn't listen to himself even when he's sure something is a waste of time. He has tried to get out of that bad habit, but unfortunately, he constantly fails. He doesn't see it as a major problem, however, but instead prides himself for spending his own time to make someone else happy. In contrast, Aiser is really bothered when he just wastes time for the sake of wasting time. He knows it's important to use his time wisely, and he feels hypocritical and selfish when he doesn't.

What's with the watches?

"I'm going away for a while." His father sat down next to a young Aiser, who was alarmed by the news.

"Pa? Aren't I supposed to leave you? When I'm bigger and stronger and older? That's what Mama told me." Confused and scared, little Aiser circled his aging father clockwise a couple times, and then turned around and circled him counterclockwise a couple times as well. His fur stood on end, instinctively aware something was wrong.

"I...I'm sorry son, but this is the way it must be. Don't worry, I'm not really leaving. I would never leave you or your mother. I promise," He smiled gently at Aiser, and hugged him tight and loving, as if to say hello and goodbye at the same time. "But I have to go soon, understand?"

Aiser nodded his tiny head, but he didn't understand at all.

"It's all right, son. Everything will be all right. See, I got you a gift. It'll make this better, I promise. One day, you'll know. You'll figure it out, you've always been a smart boy," His father reached into a pocket in his coat and pulled out a small, black velvet box. "So here, son," His father held out the box to his son, saying, "I want you to have this."

Aiser took the box from his father's paws with a slight eagerness and greediness, too young to be careful with the present. Opening up the box and hoping for it to be some kind of toy, he felt disappointed to learn it was only a bland watch, probably cheaply made as it looked like his father chose it randomly and in a hurry. Still, he didn't want his father to become disheartened, so he fastened on the watch, though it was much too large for his tiny paw. Aiser smiled politely to his father, to let him know he was at least appreciative of his father's gift. His father smiled knowingly back, positive that Aiser would learn to love the watch in time, as he grew older.

Aiser came across the note unexpectedly. He had clumsily fallen down, ironically late to his first job, causing his watch given to him by his father, which he never bothered to take off, had broken. Luckily, only the back came apart, and Aiser was easily able to snap it back into place. Reaching down to gather the other things he dropped, however, he noticed a small note had fallen out of the back of the watch, something he never knew was there. However, he was sure it was a note from his father. Not caring about his job anymore, Aiser put down his items so he could read the note.

Shocked and tears forming in his eyes, Aiser read over the poem a few times to make sure it said what it did. After he was certain what he was reading was real, he sat down and started crying profusely. He wondered how he never found it sooner. He imagined all the days he spent with his watch. He remembered all the times he found himself staring at it for hours, trying to remember his father, trying to understand why the watch of all things to give him, or trying to get his mind off of other things in his life and relax. Despite all the time he used to think about the watch, as time passed, he forgot it was even still on his paw. Simply, Aiser never really cared too much with his father's parting gift to him, as he himself never knew his father too well. Likewise, he could never understand the real intention behind the watch. However, now, it was all becoming clear to Aiser. He found solace in the poem, content his unanswered question had been finally answered after so many years. He could finally rest and be at peace with his father's passing, sure that his father was still close to his heart. Aiser adjusted his watch onto his paw once more and tucked the note into his scarf, keeping it as a reminder. He stood back up slowly, and began to move foward, his father's last words to him echoing in his mind.

"I knew from the moment you were born that you were special. That the clocks on your tail meant something important. And now I realize what it means. All of the time I had was given to you, so that you can enjoy your life. So enjoy it. That's all I want for you, Aiser. Don't wait until it's too late."

"We don't always have a lot of time, son, but we still can make the most of it."

What's with the watches?: When Torrence was younger, he was supposed to arrive to his friend's surprise party at the absolute latest at 4:03, as the recipient was arriving at 4:10, and they needed to make sure everyone was hidden it time. He got there at 4:09, and ruined the whole thing. Now he feels terrible, and always wears at least one watch and aligns it to the second every morning.

What's with the watches?: Though there isn't an official title, Arthur as the power to control time and considers himself the timekeeper of earth. He found the planet in it's early state when he was time traveling to... Well, pass the time. Seeing as the molten state the earth was in would not change without the concept of time, he set the earth's future in motion and checks to make sure everything is running smoothly at least twice a year, which is day lights saving. He's still trying to figure out a way for earth and it's sun to have a less-noticeable change in order to better hide his existence.

He has always been quite fond of watches ever since they were invented; Arthur liked to think that they were created in his honour, which they technically were, and is very fascinated at how they work and their overall complex design. This is why he always has them on him, though there is still a much bigger purpose for them being there. The ones on his left show the time zones that are taking part in the evening and night while the ones on his right show those in the morning and afternoon. Since it can be uncomfortable and quite noticeable wearing multiple watches, he usually takes to only having a couple at a time that switch to each time zone that he thinks about as he looks at the clock's face. He does have to keep them all in check, right?

No one knows where this Kalon came from- even he is much too old to remember. He is not one to dwell on things from the past, and is far too busy with his adventures through time to care about things like his own personality. Despite this, Arthur has admitted that if he knew where he was at a certain time earlier in his life, then he would very much like to pay himself a quick visit. This has never happened, however, because he jumps through time way too often and the universe is so big for one little Kalon to visit a place more than once (with the exception of Earth). He is very carefree and positive about almost anything and everything, and though he doesn't appear to be much different from other kalons physically, Arthur's wits are quick and there's far more to him than what meets the eye.
