    kalons used: Aisake
    prompt #1: here
prompt #2: Draw or write about where a Kalon is going to be costuming. Is it a spooky place?

    --

Aisake was bored to tears. This was the day he died; on Halloween night, no less, sitting on a dirt-covered doorstep, waiting indefinitely for an event that would never come to pass-

"Stop fidgeting," Kotone growled next to him.

Aisake slowly turned to face her, eyes brimming with tears and nose quivering. "I'm dying."

Kotone, as usual, remained stoic and thoroughly unamused. "Stop whining. We've been waiting for three minutes. They'll be done soon."

Ah, Kotone. Ever so bright and joyful, encouraging to the end... one would think you had a stone for a heart. "You're a jerk," Aisake said.

Kotone ignored him in favor of staring off into the distance. Aisake sighed, leaned back, and started swinging his legs like an eight-year-old. Wolf and Acci were arguing, as per the norm, and being refereed by Jennis, also as per the norm. Nothing new there.

At last, a staggering two minutes later, Candy and Loki stumbled out the door. Aisake squinted at them. "What are you wearing?"

Candy seemed to be dolled up as a southern belle, probably the most frilly he'd ever seen her. Loki was a magician.. with both paws handcuffed behind his back. The latter grinned awkwardly. "I was just testing it out, but Candy hid the keys and won't tell me where they are. What are your wearing? I don't think I've ever seen that costume before."

"I made it," Aisake preened under the scrutiny. "I'm a galaxy!"

Candy frowned. "It's ugly. Too many sequins."

Kotone started snickering as Aisake gaped at them in disbelief. "I- you- I'm just going to ignore that comment. I can't believe you, you're all the worst friends." He gave a wounded huff and stomped over to the arguing siblings, rapping Acci sharply on the head with a plastic bucket as he went. "Knock it off, we're leaving," he muttered, paying no heed to Acci's mock-pained yelp.

Three minutes later, they'd set their game plan for the night and split up in a relatively organized fashion. Aisake went with Kotone and Wolf, while Candy took Acci. Jennis went with Loki. The general consensus agreed that Wolf and Acci should not go together (and that the consequences would be even worse if Acci and Loki were paired up). Despite the precautionary measures, Aisake still put twenty bucks down on them causing major property damage sometime tonight.

".. and if someone gives you weird-looking candy, don't eat it," Kotone finished lecturing the group.

Acci rolled his eyes. "Nah, I already got some of that over here," he grinned, jerking his thumb in Candy's direction. "Besides," he went on over Candy's glare, "I'm three years older than you. I already know this."

Kotone crossed her arms. "And yet you did it last year anyway."

Acci shrugged. "What can I say? It looked good, man."

"Alright!" Aisake clapped his paws gleefully, ignoring Kotone's frustrated moan. "Now that everyone's up to date and knows what to do, let's go!" Before any more arguing could start, he grabbed his bucket with one paw and Kotone's arm in the other, and took off down the road.

Prompt 2:
Draw or write about where a Kalon is going to be costuming. Is it a spooky place?
With Urbana + Dem

Urbana grinned. Every halloween so far had been spent in the comforts of her own neighborhood, but now, she'd finally break out of the safety of her own street and venture out towards the other houses ahead of her.
Of course, the normal trick or treating would occur at the regular houses, along with some hunting on what she called 'rich people avenue' for some full sized candy bars... but the main event of the night, the one that'd deliver the most spooks... the heckhouse. Of course, it had a more dangerous name, but Urbana wasn't allowed to curse. Anyways, the heckhouse... the house that had it's own website, infamous for it's many murders that occurred there! Naturally, no one dared to go near it- out of common sense, that is..
But Urbana wasn't just anyone. She was going to trick or treat at the heckhouse, the scariest house on the block, filled with murderers and ghosts and spiders and ghouls! Who knows... maybe she'll even come back with more candy then she started with...! That is, if she manages to come back alive...
She ran down the street, pumpkin bowl in hand. The sight of the heckhouse grew larger as she began to skip towards it in joy.
What could possibly await her inside the heckhouse? She wondered what type of spiders she'd see. She knew about all kinds of them- black widows, huntsman spiders, uh... wolf...back...spiders?
Suddenly she came to a stop. Ahead of her was the heckhouse, in all of its glory. She'd been so busy with the spiders she hadn't realized she'd made it to her destination.
Ahead lay a broken, worn down fence that Urbana jumped with ease. With a grunt, she landed heavily in the overgrown weeds and thorns that called the garden home, run rampant by the long vacancy of the heckhouse's owners. With a sigh, she pulled herself up, picking weeds out of her Wonder Woman costume. Putting on a smile and a brave face, she inched toward the house, her courage slowly receding with every step.
The door became clear, covered in grime and crud. When her hesitant knock earned no reply, she gathered herself to push the door open, leading to a dark hallway.
She stepped inside, instantly met with a very chilling breeze. The scent carried the odor of that of a dying animal, with an accented burnt rubber aroma to accompany it. It very much reminded Urbana of roadkill.
With a gulp, she fished the flashlight out of her bag, suddenly very reluctant to continue on.
Come on Urbana! You can do this. It's not hard, just go in.. avoid any ghosts... don't get bitten by any... poisonous... spiders...!
"No no no no no no no!" Urbana yelled, giving into her fear. She turned to sprint towards the door, to find in horror it'd already been shut...
"No!" She yelled, pulling on the knob, but it was bolted to a close. Behind her, she felt a hand heavily grip her shoulder, swinging her around forcibly as she let out a cry of horror.
She was met with a hideous face, one of true disgust!
"Oh.. it's just you, dad."
"Wha-? Didn't I scare you?" Her father replied.
"No," said Urbana boldly, still recovering from her scare.
"I totally did," said Dem, eyes gleaming in satisfaction.
"Yeah whatever. How did you even find me, anyways?" she questioned.
"Father's instinct."
"No. You found the blueprints stashed under my bed, didn't you?" Urbana said, slightly crestfallen.
"Maybe," said Dem with a hint of humor in his voice.
"Get...out..." Said a creepy, hushed, hidden voice from the shadows.
"Huh?" The two kalons asked in unison.
"I said, get... out!" It responded, louder this time.
"Nope!" yelled Dem, picking up Urbana and swinging the door open.
He continued to yell 'nope' all the way home.
And Urbana never went into the heckhouse again.

Prompt 2
❝Draw or write about where a kalon is going to be costuming. Is it a spooky place?❞

Not yet the witching hour
feat. Rum & Soju
+ mentions of their other family

"You don't have to worry Daddy I'll protect you!"
Rum sighed heavily, holding his daughters' smaller shoulders for stability.
    "Thanks kiddo."
Soju grinned brightly and puffed her chest out, her gladiator costume suddenly very fitting for the current situation. Since Adelaide and Epsilon had taken the rest of the kids home after the previous house, the majority of their brood too tired to continue trick or treating. That left him with Soju, his bundle of fearless energy and tireless curiosity. Sometimes Rum thought she was too brave, even for being his daughter.
A path greeted them ahead, sparce of people and barely lit aside a single flickering street light. At the end of the road sat a house, multi leveled and framed by leafless trees that were probably dead to begin with. A faint groan of wind tussled the trees and the two shivered - both for different reasons.
Soju charged ahead and Rum had no choice but to follow, his robinhood cloak doing little to guard him from his chill. Step by step he forced himself forward, quietly wondering to himself if Soju would even be satisfied after his house. He hoped so.
To Rums absoulute pleasure and Soju's dismay a silver bowl greeted them with a hastily written note of "five pieces of candy per person" taped to its' side. Unfortunately the bowl was empty. Oh no.
Rum watched her carefully. The look in her eyes suggested a plan of sorts and usually those never ended well.
Just as he was about to suggest they go home and reached to her toes and rung the home's doorbell.
"Soju!" Rum barked, grabbing for her arm. "There was proabaly a reason they set out the bowl, you aren't suppose to ring their doorbell!"
    "But-"
"When we get home you're in big trouble."
Soju groaned and began fussing but the two went silent when the deadbolt on the door clicked and the heavy oak door began to open. It stopped until a sliver was visible, darker than the color of the door.
"Who ring ring rings at my door...?"
"In so very sorry," Rum apologized "My daughter just-"
"Rum and Soju ring ring ring at your door!"
Rum swallowed thickly, close to terrified of the voice, as well as the ease his daughter gave away their names.
"And what do Rum and Soju see see seek...?"
"Candy please!!" Soju chirped, holding out her sack of treats with a bright smile.
"Very well, this is for you you you my dear..."
A scarred hand revealed itself from the shadows, and a handful of unidentifiable candy poured from their hand, continuing only until the bag could not hold a candy more. Rum's blood felt like ice in his veins.
"Thank thank thank you!!" Soju replied as the hand began its retreat into the home with a wheeze of laugher.
"And be wary wary wary of the shadows dear friends. For it is not kind like me me me..."
The door closed with a final click, and Soju turned to face her father with a look of external joy.
"See papa I told you I'd protect you!"
Shaken, Rum could only nod and pull Soju closer.
    "Yes, yes you did..."
Nearby, the street lamp flickered for one last time before plunging the street into darkness.

Prompt #2

Susanna straightened her dress and smiled as she looked at herself through the mirror. Ha, she thought, tonight is going to be amazing! There was a group of kids her age that she knew always went to the local cemetery on every Halloween night. She hated how careless they were, sitting on gravestones, spitting into the dirt, stealing flowers for themselves that were meant for lost family members and friends. It happened every year, and this year Susanna didn't have anyone to tell her not to fight back. She'd been careful not to vocalize her discontent with the kids this year. She had convinced her friends that she was over it. They didn't want her to fight back because they were scared she would get hurt, but this year their protest would be no longer.
Susanna knew these kids from school, but they never knew her. Besides, today she would wear makeup, which would, hopefully, make her unrecognizable.
Heather Bellamy. That was the name of the grave. Susanna knew nothing of Heather, but she liked to think that she would've been a sweet woman. Her grave rested just beyond the central meeting place of the group of teens, so, Susanna hoped, her plan would work perfectly.
She'd stand there the entire time, staring at the kids, cocking her head every once and a while at the inflections in their voices. Her frown would be light, her eyebrows curled in concern; she'd look just like a lost soul. They wouldn't notice her at first because of her distance from them, but eventually they'd peer out into the darkness and notice her bright white dress.
From there, it would be improv. Susanna would "see where the night took her", so to speak. And it would be marvelous! Susanna had acted in a haunted house before, and got a good reaction from four out of every five participants. And now, even better, she would carry with her some knowledge of fear. She was a psychologist in training, after all, she ought to know what scares people the most
With a smile on her face and justice in her heart, Susanna set off into the night to scare some bullies.

Repel Parpin
Madge Parpin

Repel pulled out a small wand, waving it frantically, casting a light spell. "I told you this was a stupid idea." Repel mocked, fishing a small dagger out of his bag. "Yeah, well I took you 6 years ago here when you where a kid, and nothing bad happened." Madge snarled, popping his knuckles in satisfying cracks. It darkness was attacked by a soft glow of pink, but it revealed more and more monsters that lurked in it. The shadows seemed to dance as Madge began to whimper. "Papa, you don't need to hold onto my hand, I'm not a kid anymore." Repel stated. "I'm not holding your hand Repel." Madge said, not truly realizing what came out of his mouth, until Repel shrieked as he looked down to see a deformed and torn creature starring at him. He whipped his hand back towards him, throwing his dagger into the face of the attacker. The knife disappeared into the darkness and clattered onto the floor. "Okay, first this was fun, now they're trying to kill me." Repel grumbled, pulling his cloak sleeves up and grabbing Madge's, forearm. Repel tugged on it as his wand lit the way, fighting off the treacherous shadows that tugged at his cloak. Madge on the other hand was tip-toeing away, stomping on the hands of the darkness as they made their way to the exit. Repel attempted to kick the door down, but was thrown down by his own force. "Move it." Madge stated coldly. Not that he was annoyed with Repel for being weak, but he was annoyed with the shadows that constantly stroked his ankles. A swift launch at the door proved successful, with Madge on the ground and the door ripped off of it's hinges. Repel scrambled out the door, jumping over Madge's body, running off the front porch. Madge chased after him, whacking him in the back of the head as they settled down. "Ow, what was that for papa?" Repel whined, rubbing his head. "Leaving me idiot." Madge answered.

      prompt two
      feat pip (our mascot)

fog machines chugged, hidden behind shivering black curtains. cobwebs littered the decaying walls. decorations of orange, black and purple, of monsters and mummies and skeletons were scattered askew. it would've been scary, had funky halloween music not been blasting into the fierce night, with children dancing their hearts out to the beat.

pip smiled at the costumes they saw. there were the traditional, the spooky, the creative and the weird. they loved each one of them. quickly, they adjusted their cat hears and tail, and mingled with their fellow friends. this halloween party is going to be so much fun!

there were games in one room of their friend's house, where you could win candy. there was miniature, plastic bowling set. pip watched as one of the kits got a strike. "bingo!" they heard another kalon shout. there was the halloween bingo game, of course. and their favorite, the annual costume contest. i can't wait!

it didn't take long for pip to be engulfed by all of the fun activities. they strut their stuff on the dance floor, they tried their paw at the games, and they couldn't wait for the costume contest. this is the best halloween bash ever!

(ah, thanks for the prize!)

───────────────
prompt #2

nisha -- thallium -- kai
───────────────

Thallium was annoyed.

She’d braved talking robotic skeletons, been jump scared by Count Dracula, had a pile of dubious looking cobwebs fall on her head, almost been speared to death by possibly fake flying swords, and now the guy wasn’t even bothered to answer the door? What kind of world was she living in?

She wasn’t an impatient person, but really- if you’d just gone through hell in someone’s front yard, you’d expect some special treatment. And she wasn’t even asking for much. All he had to do was stand there, open the door, and dump a large amount of candy into her bucket.

He had ONE job. Thali knew she was thinking like her mother as she pressed the doorbell for the umpteenth time. The thought made her glance down at her white angel outfit, which her mom had bought, and which still looked surprisingly clean. She loved the fact that it wasn’t actually a dress, loved the balance of sporty and pretty, but most of all she loved that it was a present from her mom. The happiness on Nisha’s face as she’d handed Thali the costume would have been enough to make her wear a full-out ball gown for the day, frills and all.

Looking up again, she saw that the door was still refusing to move and hand over its candy. She sighed. She really needed that candy. It was probably her only chance to win right now, given all the time she’d wasted on the yard.

The game had been her idea. Instead of going candy hunting together, why not make it a competition? She loved a good competition- and she was good at getting others to love it too. Maybe some would call it bossy, but she preferred persuasive. And she’d definitely persuaded her friends to do this with her- they’d split up almost as soon as they’d come together, vying for the prestigious title of Ultimate Candy Hunter.

She’d targeted this house because it was home to the richest man in town- and that hopefully meant he had a lot of candy to give. But at this rate, she’d be going back with the least amount of candy- and boy, did she hate to lose.

A sudden flash of light made Thali wince. As her vision cleared, she saw a young man standing in front of her, looking like he’d just run a marathon. “Sorry.” He gasped. “I couldn’t find the candy.”

Thali smiled as she glimpsed the ginormous bowl in his hands. Her grin turned mischievous as she met the man’s eyes. “Well, after all that-“ she gestured behind her, to the yard “-I think I should probably be asking: treat or bigger treat?”

She was happy when the man laughed, and even happier when he shoveled a very generous amount of teeth-rotting goodies into her bucket.

“What can I say?” His eyes twinkled. “I do love Halloween.”

With her goal achieved, Thali’s manners returned. “Thank you so much, sir!”

“Hey, it was my pleasure. Now go enjoy the night!”

Thali nodded, waved, and ran back down the path. She heard the door close behind her as she turned back onto the street, her now heavy bucket of candy in tow.

Oh, she was definitely going to win now.

Prompt #2

A shy Xyris clutched the handle of his candy bag, shuffling his tiny paws. Other kits were starting to line up behind him, waiting to get to the door.
Xyris raised his paw, fairly surprised when he saw it was shaking.
The other kalon kits started to get impatient. "Move!" One shouted. "Some of us don't have all night!"
Xyris stared up at the large, tall door that loomed above him. The house was decorated exquisitely, with realistic looking cobwebs and large, black, hairy spiders with glowing red eyes hung all about. Mechanical bats that looked like they were really flying, and glowing ghosts in the windows.
Suddenly, something touched his shoulder.
He couldn't help but jump, terrified, with a squeak. The peer pressure, and the stress of being out alone, and everything came crashing down with a start of fear, and he started to hyperventilate as he spun around as quick as he could, the large, feathery, black wings of his crow costume nearly hitting the grown kalon standing behind him.
"Woah, there, kid, are you okay?" The big kalon asked. "Where's your parent?"
Xyris opened his mouth, but a choked sound came out, and he put his paw to his mouth as a tear slipped from his eye and into his fur.
The big kalon patted Xyris on the back, but he turned away and sprinted as fast as he could off of the porch of the house without knocking anyone over. This was exactly why he didn't like Halloween.
He ran until he got to an area of the neighborhood that was dark and empty, with no streetlights. Xyris had always found the dark comforting, in a strange, cold sort of way. There was no other kalon a around, which comforted him. He liked how well- decorated the houses were, the lights, the tombstones set up in yards with fake skeleton hands sticking out of the ground. The silence was nice too. It soothed his ears.
Eventually, his run gently faded into a jog, which slowly stopped. He sat, quietly, on the curb of the street, sifting through the extremely slight amount of candy he'd managed to gather. He sighed, defeated. His social anxiety was screwing with him again. This was the fifth time tonight he'd froze up that night
He wasn't cut out for this. He could deal with it, but it wasn't ideal.
He looked around through the dark, quiet street. It was so peaceful. If this was Halloween, then it was good enough for him.

prompt :2
Chanel

Chanel walked through the dark night, in her little costume witch costume draped over her entire form and hat in place. The night seemed scary as she paced around the dark forestry area of her home, before spotting the dark house that she was going to be going into for her first event of Halloween night as a witch. The house looked old and dusty, decrepit and not at all in any shape to be used or inhabited. And yet, there were many kalons all already crowding around, looking excited and maybe even a little happy to go inside the scary looking building structure.

To be completely honest, the house was a haunted house all on its own. It was not set up by anyone, nor was it supposed to be a haunted house. Instead, it was a real haunted house, one with many rumors of kalon's disappearing in and never returning from. But with so many kalons together, they were sure to find the end of the mystery and thus, this was where little Chanel was going to costuming and having fun at. She would be lying if she said she werent scared. But ghosts aren't real and there were many people here to protect her and keep her safe... right?
