fav thing about himself// of all the gifts life gave him, he cherishes his appearance the most; his quality of passionate persistence comes in at a close second.
he still remembers a chain of certain days when he was young, the first starting with a glimpse in the mirror. the patterns on his back peaked the curiosity of his little mind, and, for fun, he rolled into an awkward position to try and copy his markings from the mirror to an engraving in the dirt. needless to say, he wasn't very successful, but he was fascinated with the intricate art he bore on himself, and that brought greater interest with time.
on another day that he tried to claw his patterns into the ground, his uncle happened by and stopped to watch with a chuckle. seeing the sheer curiosity and determination the little one had for, he requested for guaz to stay still as he swiftly sketched the markings on a sheet of paper he had gone and got. guazama, in awe of the skills his uncle bore, asked him to teach him how to draw so quickly, and his request was accepted; many papers and pencil shavings fluttered in the winds that afternoon.
guazama kept practicing, trying to draw what he saw around him, most frequently copying his patterns and adding more elegant details to his drawings in dirt and charcoal. he had more little lessons with his uncle, learning techniques and the likes, even expanding his interests as he saw his relative fashion a crane out of a discarded sheet of paper. his uncle gave his signature chuckle and commented that guazama looked like he was walking on legs of folded paper; it took a couple months for the kjaku to make a little model of the entirety of himself in paper once he started steadily learning, and he loved those months.
eventually, his uncle moved on to whittling and woodwork, and those periods of time whizzed by; he learned to make sculptures, engravings, his claws becoming so sore from the work that he had to bandage them up and use tools instead. it was all worth it, though. he had found his passion and he stuck with it.
his uncle is feeble and old, but guazama still thanks him dearly for what he taught him. he also thanks himself for pursuing that little spark of interest and seeing the beauty of himself, as it all lead to him both calling those what he loves the most as well as finding the passion in life he loves the most.
