Ask any of Nikko’s friends to describe him, and they’ll likely respond with a single word: determined. He rarely gives up on anything, sometimes to the point of absurd stubbornness, and nothing that anyone says will dissuade him. In fact, opposition only seems to make him more purposeful. As a hatchling, he was told he would never be athletic because he didn’t have a long tail to balance with, and this encouraged his parents to forbid him from climbing. Naturally, this made him want to climb anything and everything, and as an adolescent he snuck out to go hiking in the forested hills near his home. The first few times, he came back with cuts and bruises; it was true that his balance wasn’t as good as most Viscets, but this didn’t make him want to stop trying. He started going out there nearly every day, under the guise of working on school projects, and soon he developed muscles that more than made up for his short tail. He taught himself to climb the rocky cliffs with little more than a rope, and eventually even the tall pines became less of a challenge. Months passed, and still he continued to explore the hills. It was no longer to prove that he could, but instead he had learned to appreciate the simple beauty and peace of the forest. He typically led a very busy life full of projects and events, but there he could just...be. He began reading about the plants and animals that made up this second home of his, and how they were being encroached upon by farms and overhunting. Within days of starting his research, he had decided to become a park ranger, and today he leads the efforts to keep the hills pure and beautiful.
Tell me one thing they like:Nikko has a fascination with candelabra. His mother had a beautiful silver candelabrum with opal inlay when he was a hatchling, so when he was bored and wanted to start a collection, those are what he chose. It began innocently enough, but by this point has gotten rather out of control. He has one on nearly every table and countertop of his house, and has begun storing some in friends’ attics and basements. He greatly enjoys seeking them out in estate sales, thrift stores, and yard sales, and has become a bit of an expert in the different styles and eras of candelabrum-making. Of course, he tries to be careful with his finances, so he keeps a strict budget every month of how much he can spend on his hobby.
Beauty and the Wereviscet is his favorite movie.
