name: lumaluna (luma or luna for short)
gender: biologically female, but some would say she acts more masculine.
story: lumaluna was sitting around in her burrow, not wanting to go outside into the cold. at least, it was cold and snowy last time she checked. and that was a few hours ago. but it suddenly seemed warmer in her burrow. she was about to get up off her purple lazy chair when something fell in front of her. it was a potted plant that had hung on her ceiling. it now lay with a shattered pot and burning leaves on the floor. wait, burning leaves? luma looked up at her ceiling to see it burning away from the center and bits of charred wood falling. panicking, luna ran out her burrow door and into the yellow grass outside. most of the snow was gone, and all the trees and some grass and bushes were on fire. the ferret reached back into her burrow and grabbed a brown leather satchel off a hat rack and slung it around her shoulder. she then fell onto all fours and quickly maneuvered her way through the flaming bushes and grass. she quickly stopped before a falling flaming tree could crush her. she jumped over and jumped into a river. the once clear water was now black from charcoal and other substances. but luma could remember her way around it and swiftly found an underwater cave. wasting no time, as she was getting low on breath, she swam through and surfaced under the roof of a cave. the earth shook as she crawled onto the stone shore of the cave. luma quickly scampered across the cave and looked out the mouth. the volcano that had been dormant before was blowing lava and stone everywhere.not knowing what else to do, luma lay down in a corner of the cave and shook violently. she pulled a large conch shell out of her brown satchel and put it to her ear. the sound of the ocean helped to calm her, and she fell asleep.
lumaluna woke next morning to complete darkness. she looked around in panic, then remembered where she was. then she saw the light outline of the cave mouth. the entrance was blocked by a large rock, probably from the volcano. luma pushed on the rock and found it wasn't that heavy. As it rolled into the light, she saw it was pummace or sandstone. the ferret wiggled her pink little nose and walked around the rock into the sunlight. everything in the valley she grew up in was turned to char and ash. tears pricked her brown eyes, but she wiped them away, refusing to cry. she ran down the slope and into the valley, looking around at the destruction. the tree her burrow had been under had burned and collapsed. the river she used to escape was black and full of fallen trees and stones. the grass was almost all gone and everything smelled burnt. but then she saw something. it was a large shell, one of luma's, sitting in a patch of burned flowers. she must have dropped it when she was running. she walked over and picked it up. a single purple flower unfurled from uner it. the shell must have protected it through the drama. luna looked around at the charred landscape once more and knew what she was going to be doing for the next decade or so. she was going to bring back the beauty of her valley.
