MY BOY!!! thank u so much waverly omg.....
name: laith
lore: aethermere had existed long before gilverûn was even a thought to be had. the body of water ran deep, stretching down into the earth as if it were reaching for its very core. from the center of the lake sprouted numerous canals, long and winding as they nourished the land for miles around. from the water that seeped into the surrounding land sprang a forest, thick and towering as it seemed to touch the clouds above. this forest, as its growth was fostered by the aetheremerian water, had similar properties to that of the water itself: a natural protection, twists and turns forming at any given moment to throw off those unfamiliar with a very specific part.
similarly to how fables inhabited aethermere, the same species began to call the forest, now called gilverûn, home. unlike aethermere, the fables of gilverûn soon split themselves into factions, and though they did not have a governing party, there was eventually the formation of politics (though gilverûnian fables would tell you otherwise!) this pseudo-government that was now forming on the land that surrounded aethermere began to become an area of concern: would they try to inhabit aethermere? colonize it and take it for themselves? there was only so much these earth-fables could do, seeing as they did have to capabilities to inhabit the water, but that hypothetically couldn't stop them from trying.
after many conversations with the fables that deemed themselves the council of gilverûn, both gilverûn and aethermere reached the agreement to be autonomous of one another. they were neighbors, and would be forced to interact with each other, but they both stood as their own entities. that being said, this established party that now called gilverûn home made it impossible for aethermere to remain entirely impassive.
this is when citizens of aethermere made the decision to elect their own "council", a safeguard to prepare for any future situations in which they may need representation. and with that, the oldest of the group was chosen: someone deemed the wisest and most intelligent about all matters happening, both in aethermere and in the surrounding areas.
this chain of events is what lead to laith currently being considered the council of aethermere. though, he didn't take this position entirely seriously. from the moment he was born, he knew the position would be thrust into his lap: for generations, his family had been the only council members for aethermere. due to the lackadaisical nature of aetheremerian, and their lack of any sort of superiority figure prior to the creation of gilverûn, they simply did not take the council position very seriously. it wasn't an honor to have, nor was it something people strived to achieve. and with that, the position was passed down from generation to generation, never leaving the very family that it originated in. laith was prepared for it, having been told the history of this position from his childhood in preparation for the day that it would become his. now, he had held it for years, decades. he was considered the face of aethermere, and to gilverûnian fables, his name became almost synonymous with the nation itself.
