Marrow is hiding a secret. They're technically an Eldritch being, not a natural born kalon. Because of this, they do not grasp kalon emotions effortlessly. It takes a forced effort to even begin to understand emotions, but they are indeed capable of learning the true meaning of emotions. They have fallen in with neurodivergent kalons the most, as they seem to have in common the whole frustration with socializing and making mistakes.

Marrow puts on a smile the most, trying to make kalons laugh. It is the easiest form of connecting with kalons, and they do enjoy the sound of laughter. Every kalon is so different! Some sound like bells, others sound louder than others, and some even sound downright evil despite being a good-natured kalon. [126 Words]

“Who, me? Hiding something?” Trixie lets out a melodious laugh. It lingers in your head like the tinkling of tiny bells. “Why would I ever hide anything? I’m an open book!”

Behind her wide, friendly smile, cogs whir and churn in her head. Do they know about me? No, of course they don’t! That would be silly. I’ve done SUCH a marvellous job replicating Trixie Trueman! Every little piece of her, expertly crafted and fine-tuned to a point! My best work yet, I must say… even down to the sing-song voice! How could anyone possibly doubt my performance?

The skin hadn’t been difficult, aside from the face. She’d had trouble with that, at first. It was hard to get the features right under all that makeup. Matching the expressions was even more difficult. The hair was almost fun - weaving the colourful fibres into a delicate bouquet. It was the minute mannerisms that posed the most challenge. The slight tremble in Trixie’s tone when she vibrated with excitement… the subtle twirling of her fingers when she showed lost guests to the big top… the sparkle in her eyes when she laughed. Trixie still couldn’t quite get that laugh right. But it’s not enough for anyone to notice, is it? No… but maybe, just to be safe…

“Are you lost, little lamb?” Something in her expression doesn’t sit right with you. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you!” Oh deary me. No One will just have to make room for one more.

XCXCHis pen wrote across the pages, eyes dancing lazily over the paper as he absentmindedly noted down his studies. Strange. His gaze was suddenly caught by a small overlap of words. He was normally more... thorough than this so what-

XCXCThe table he sat at in the diner shuddered. Bishop sat up and looked around at the people around him and either no one seemed to notice or... he was the only one who could see it. RUMBLE!

XCXCHis hands flew from the journal to the table, holding it steady. The moment he felt safe enough he tucked his journal under his arm and threw some amount of change onto the table.

XCXC"Keep the change!" He hollered as he ran out, sliding his crystalized lenses onto his face. A whoop left him as he admired the creature in front of him.

XCXC"You are a magnificent creature!" The light shimmering off of the creature reflected back into his lenses allowing him to see the fae creature in front of him. The attention was caught of the rather... large and almost grotesque looking fae. It was... strange. Diseased almost. And he was the only one who knew anything about them.

XCXCThe journal was fished out again and he began to frantically draw it for what little time he had left. As quickly as it came it had left, leaving him awestruck where he stood. A shadow appeared over his shoulder and cast down onto his drawing. Bishop's hand snapped the book shut and returned the lenses on top of his head.

XCXC"What cooked up crap are you making now Bishop?"

XCXC"It's not cooked up. They're... real." It was hiding right in front of their very eyes and for some reason.. he was the only one who could see it.

bunting's a great girlfriend. no, really, man! i don't want t' hear it. it's just -- well -- every time we go out, she's hiding another gift. which is great (it's not like i'm a minimalist or anything), but it's like...

okay, but zeke, it's like -- it counts as keeping secrets. y'know? listen to this -- we went to the zoo and she pulled out an ORB full of sea monkeys. (yes, i know that's odd!) and it's always like this weird... like, she giggled through the whole movie on our last date and then gave me a VHS copy of the sequel.

i swear, if i didn't know any better, i'd think she was pawning off cursed objects on me or something.

Bernie stared at the computer screen, clicking her mouse from one spreadsheet to the next, trying to look busy. Behind her, her boss talked on and on. She peeked over her shoulder. Yup, he still stood there, looming over her, eyes fixed on the screen.
Worse, though, he kept talking. Bernie drowned it out, ignoring the rambling as she tapped her keyboard.
“-you got that?” he asked.
She just nodded. “Yup.”
“Good, good, just make sure you add her name to the ‘unauthorized’ list when you get a chance,” he walked off.
Bernie wanted to scream. Finally he left, after telling her to do something she had done ten minutes ago! How could someone be that incompetent at their job?
She sighed, then opened up her other browser -- her greatest secret, one that no one could find out about, one that she had to keep hidden from everyone in the office, unless she wanted something truly terrible to happen…
Was an unfinished game of Tetris.

“Come one! Come all!” shouts a kalon outside a carnival tent. “Have your misfortunes remedied by the Great Cleanser!” Their hair bells jingle as they dramatically gesture to the passing kalons.

They don’t seem to be aware of how many people jeer at them. Or, if they are, it doesn’t faze them. They gesture around like a dance, endlessly entertaining.

Until a kalon finally accepts their premise. “I’ve been having some trouble gardening,” says the kalon. “All of my plants wilt. No matter what I do!” It’s a young girl. The carnival kalon looks both like their equal and their superior in age. Unknowable. Maybe that’s why the young kalon decides to trust them.

“An easy fix. Follow me.” The two enter the tent, sitting on either side of the table. “All I need is for you to let me in to your chakras.” They hold out a paw. “Allow me.” The young kalon tentatively lays their paw over theirs. A sinister smirk curls.

The young kalon gasps, and goes stiff as a board. This misfortune siphons like strings from the kalon to the jester. They inhale sharply, exhaling like a relief. “Beautiful,” the jester says. In all of the carnival, there is exactly one magician who is real. The Great Cleanser. Eater of misfortune. Siphon of suffering.

The young kalon blinks, forehead wrinkled, unsure of where they are or what’s happened.
